So only first round draft picks are worthwhile? Do 2nd round picks count? At what point do you just stop even trying to find a good player and say.. ahh what the hell pick that guy he has a cool name.

As good as Parish may be returning punts, how many Super Bowl teams dedicate a roster spot to a punt returner? Yes, he is exciting in the return game. But, wouldn't it be nice to have someone who can make the overall offense exciting? To think of it another way... how many times have we seen Parish rip off a 20-30 yard punt return and give the offense great! starting field position, only to have them try a field goal or punt from the 40? So, why not worry more about someone that can help move the offense and get the ball in the endzone. I'm not suggesting that Parish is no good, nor that we should trade him. I'm merely wondering at what point are we focusing on Special Teams to the detriment of the Offense.

Who Do You Think Are Some Of The Most Underrated Guitar Players.

.... first saw the dude in the late 90's. Kicks ass. -
I use HTML-Kit for all my playing around. It's freeware, which is good. It has lots of plugins and just about all the features you'd want. IMO, its not a great graphical editor like Frontpage, but I prefer to work with the code mostly and check the layout periodically rather than the other way around. Another suggestion... If you're going to work with server side scripts, php pages, sql, etc., a great application is WampServer. It allows you to emulate an Apache server on your computer without being online. It's great for trouble shooting scripts and such! It's also freeware and well deserving of a donation.

If I were the owner of an NFL team, I would insist that I be the one that writes the guy's name on that piece of paper and hands it to the lackey that takes it downstairs. That way I could feel like I was involved somehow.

A basic Bills problem - lack of an identity

A basic Bills problem - lack of an identity
Dan replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Much agree with much of this thread. The Bills have lacked any identity at all for quite some time. Furthermore, they've really seemed to lack a passion for the game the last couple of years. Add the 2 together and you have the pitiful mess that we watched week after week during the last half of the '08 season. What I don't understand is they currently have the tools and players to be a much better team. Sure, a few more pieces are needed, but I don't think we have nearly as many holes as so many think. But, we can be pretty good. Just look at the first 5 or 6 games of last season. Then look at the last 5 or 6 games. It almost looks like 2 different teams. I watched the Chargers/Bills replay this weekend and it was incredible. I couldn't help but think.. wow, what happened to that team? On Offense: they mixed the run and pass effectively; used play action regularly; found the tight end in the passing game; and moved the ball with a good tempo. On Defense: they blitzed when needed, disguised their coverage schemes well, and contained the running lanes effectively. In short.. they looked like a completely competent and well balanced team. But then they completely reverted back to the vanilla, predictable, let's try to outsmart people approach that we witnessed. So, I just don't get it. How can they look so competent in one game and then become so inept afterward? All I can figure is they have no identity and try to be all things all the time - sometimes they get it right, but most of the time they don't. -
Excellent idea!

By the time they see me, they're already dead.

They definitely look like a type of cloths moth. Maybe a webbing cloths moth, I think they're more uniform in color than the case-making cloths moth. Either way, very similar. My primary doubt is in your initial description. You said they're about an inch long. I'm fairly certain all the cloths moths are less than half an inch - closer to about 1/4 inch in length. Did you check your closets for signs of the larvae or webbing on the cloths? They also get into carpets and just about any kinds of fabrics. I've even heard of them getting into stuffed animals. If this is what they are, the adult moths aren't the worry, its the larvae. They're the stage that do all the eating and hence the damage. I'm afraid for any more accurate of an ID, you'll have to send me a few. (or a high res pic) No problem, if you want. Just let PM and I'll send you my address. I can definitely rule out cockroaches or termites, though. Body, head shape, wings, antennae are all wrong.

African Queen? Like I know movies....

Check your upstairs closets, if they are clothes moths and on the 2nd floor, I'm guessing you have bedrooms up there (or possible clothes stored an attic). The adult moths come out for mating and fly towards light sources, so if you leave a bathroom light on, you're likely to get more in there. Of course, I could have jumped to a completely wrong conclusion.... If the wings are more smooth, that is not covered in scales (you know how if you grab a butterfly and the stuff on the wings smear off on your hand a little), well if they're not like that, it could be something completely different more along the lines of a type of caddisfly. Which would mean its coming in from the outside and not a cause for worry at all other than being a nuisance.

Really hard to tell from that picture. Can you get me a better one? It looks a little like a type of moth. If so, it could be an Case-Making Clothes Moth. They generally feed on stored grains (cereals or flour usually in someone's house). Check your cupboards/pantry for any contaminated food. Many times you also see them in your closets, as the name suggests. Again, I'm not sure that's what it is. If you can get me a better pic, maybe I can confirm or find the real culprit.

A request: Please share your take on the Peters trade
Dan replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My comments are submitted. Although, I'm afraid they pretty well suck (sorry my brain is tired from working on computers all day). I probably should have just cut and pasted one of my comments from here over the last few days. I did hear the press conference in Philly. Dude definitely seems a little too nonchalant about giving up sacks. Oh well, it's the Eagle's concern now. Next.... -
Peters "Highlights" from last year
Dan replied to Steve In Atlanta 2008's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's alot of footage of pretty bad to average LT play. If Peters plays to that level next year, Brandon is a genius. Unbelievable. -
Impossible. When Hamdan steps on the field, defensive players look on in inspired awe. His feet are cushioned from the rose petals they delicately lay at his feet.
-
3 seasons 7 wins 9 losses 1 coach = diminishing returns It's easy when you break it down by the numbers.
-
Exactly. For me, the punt and kick returns are the most exciting part of the Bills game. And ya know.... I'm kinda ready for the WRs to be a little more exciting than the punt returns. So, yeah, Roscoe is a good player and I've enjoyed watching him as a Bill. However, if they can get good value for him and add another player that possibly makes our offense or defense more exciting; then I'm all for it.

How do YOU grade Buffalo's off-season, thus far?
Dan replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously? Hole created at TE? I think it's definitely time for us all to take a step back from the ledge. We could cut every TE currently on the roster and still not create any larger hole than what already exists. Quite honestly, I'd just prefer they did cut all our TE's and use the roster spot on some other position all together. We haven't had a TE worth a damn on this team in years, why even pretend anymore? -
Will you give Trent Edwards some space this year?
Dan replied to joe w bags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess it depends... is it the line's fault if Trent checks down on 3rd and 9 while TO is streaking down the sideline? If the LT is getting blown by all game long and Trent has no time to think, let alone read the defense; then yes I'll give him a pass. However, if the line plays as well (or bad) as it did last year and Trent still looks lost and confused... well. -
Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks
Dan replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course, I haven't talked to Peters. I did meditate several nights, but his aura was unreceptive. But seriously, anyone that holds out until the day before the first game has clearly said, with his actions, that he doesn't care about team success and by default that implies that he thinks he's more important than the team. Perhaps, I'm reading too much into his actions. I'd acknowledge that. Regardless, the lines were drawn. Peters, by his play, appeared to go through the motions this season. And as quickly as possible, he left again with no word other than pay me. Seriously, after seeing how quickly he, himself, went to Phili to talk about a deal is it such a stretch to think that maybe he just didn't want to be here. It doesn't necessarily make him a bad guy. It does, however, imply that perhaps Brandon had fewer options than we've been thinking, i.e. paying Peters probably wasn't an option. Regarding the communication. I wouldn't say there was zero communication. However, Brandon has repeatedly said there was no communication. Tim has even said that 30 or 40 voicemails were not returned. So that's 2 independent sources saying that neither Peters nor Parker were communicating. Until I see evidence that Parker was indeed trying to call the Bills' FO, I think it safe to conclude that they were the ones not communicating - perhaps because they were hoping to force a trade. If that is the case... then I'll change my assessment on Parker. He's a great agent, becacause he got his client exactly what he wanted - out of a multi-year contract and out of Buffalo. -
I'd just like to say that, Tim, you rock! It's truly a priviledge to get your input and "insider" info like this. Thanks for all! Ya know what's really odd... we all just believe what you say and I don't even know what kind of car you drive. That, in and of itself, says something. Not sure what, but something.

Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks
Dan replied to TimGraham's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would agree; however, we can not discount that sometimes people change. Perhaps something over the last couple of years - signing Dockery and Walker - left a sour taste in his mouth and he's slowly rotted on the line, so to speak. Eventually, it all escalated into last season's holdout. Precisely. Someone has to give a little. To bring in another real world scenario... I currently have an employee that is doing just that. He thinks he's grossly underpaid, I offered him more compensation based on what I think is fair, he doesn't like it, it's been a week and not a word from him on the offer. Result: Monday at 8am I begin interviewing replacements. True he let them know he was unhappy as my employee has. However, there's a line between saying, "I'm underpaid and want/deserve a raise" and saying. "-----" as you walk out the door. Bottom line is this, the lines were drawn in the sand last summer. Peters thinks he more important than the team and they can't win without him. The FO thinks they can find (or have) a suitable replacement and don't really need him. IMO, money had little to do with this. I suppose we'll see sometime later this fall who's right. -
You want 10. The team says 8.5. So, you hang up the phone, refuse to talk to anyone, and wait. Sounds fairly obvious to me that he wanted out. The only other option is the $25mill in guaranteed cash. Maybe the Bills wanted that to be in the $15ish range and that was what made them hang up the phone. Don't really know. But, on the surface, it just seems like it was over between the two.
