What are all those people doing milling around that big entrance to the stadium? Don't they go to watch the game?

Where are all the WGR-calling-Captain Checkdown whiners?
Dan replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I can even live with the INT. All QBs throw them. But you have to make the defense play the whole field. That's what the long ball does for you. -

With all due respect, prior to this game Trent did everything possible to earn that nickname. Fortunately, he and AVP made it an emphasis to throw the ball deep today and it clearly worked. Not only did it help us today, but it'll give teams a lot more to think about in the coming weeks. Just as all Defensive Coord.s have to think about screens to Jackson, now they have to consider long balls to TO and Evans. It was a great game plan. I especially liked the considerable use of 5 receivers/empty back field in the 4th. It worked quite well. -
Next weeks game should be interesting...

Screw sending Mitchell into coverage - just send him after the QB all game long. He put some serious heat on Leftwitch today! -
OFFICIAL GAME THREAD: BILLS v. BUCS 9/20/2009
Dan replied to The Senator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry, but that was all on Jackson. He's played a great half, but... It was a good call, Fred just gave it away - literally. -
I really wish the Bills ran Rex Ryans D..

I really hope Perry watches this game. The Jets are all over Brady and he looks extremely average. -
Whitlock believes Bills fans should BOO McKelvin
Dan replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, Leodis was the only guy on defense those last 2 series? He was beaten in coverage on both of those TDs? Isn't it the coaches job to remind players of the situation and tell them what to do? Not to mention, there's absolutely no certainty the Bills would have run the clock out. With 3 dive plays and 4 time outs, they could have easily punted with plenty of time for a last second score to the TE. -
Great! I'll be watching. Why not stop at a WalMart and get a power inverter so you can plug your laptop in??

And people wonder why there's such a national negative stigma associated with Buffalo. It's moments like this that I realize Bills fans really aren't any better than fans elsewhere; in fact, they could be worse. So what makes a crushing defeat on MNF worse? Well... this is a good start. Just sad.
-
Thank you. Not to mention, he was playing in his first ever NFL game AND against one of the better O-lines in the game. He's got a long way to go, certainly. But did anyone notice who was right there making sure Brady didn't roll out to his right when Schobel got his sack? Yep, Maybin. He's showing a knack for being around the QB, which is pretty good for now.

Exactly. This is just horribly bad taste. So much for supporting the team. They played their asses off last night and came up a point short against one of, if not the, best team in the league and that's the welcome home they get? Just sad.

When Fred Jackson scored on the screen.....
Dan replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was giddy. The Bills had finally done what I've been screaming for years for them to do. They took control of a game in the 4th quarter. But, even before the ensuing kickoff, I began praying. Because, as we all know, this is the Bills and I knew if anyone could blow an 11pt lead with 5 minutes left, it would be the them. -
Agreed. Bell looked rough at times and had a few bad penalties. But lets not forget, he also got the least amount of playing time during the TC and Preseason due to not being named the starter and having the back injury. He's been practicing with the starting line for what.. a week? So, you have to expect him to look pretty rough last night. It'll be really interesting to see how/if he progresses over the next couple of weeks.

If you are the FO / Coach how do you fill the gaps on defense?
Dan replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well there ya have it... we have to scrap this cover 2 crap. Sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do. -
1st quarter. Pats* 2nd drive was 13 plays, 6 mins, resulted in missed field goal. 2nd quarter. Pats* 4th drive was 14 plays, 7 mins, resulted in touchdown. Pats* 6th drive (5th one was Schobel's pick 6) was 10 plays, 3.5 mins, resulted in fieldgoal (and halftime). So, half of their 1st half drives were long. And their 1st and 3rd drive was stopped on 4th down. Pretty much bad 3rd down play. My point, being if they could have stopped 2 of those drives short, the TOP is vastly improved for Buffalo. They've got to improve their 3rd down defense. The defense can do a lot to help with their late game fatigue all on their own if they could just stop the other offense once in a while. It's just that simple.
-
If the defense could stop a 3rd down play, they'd be a lot less tired in the 4th quarter. How many long drives did the Pats* have, that the Bills' defense let them have because they can't breakup a 3rd down pass when everyone knows its a pass?

I'm not sure about you guys, but watching Fred Jackson last night
Dan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. We saw something last night that we haven't seen in quite some time. The Oline was moving our there laying licks on people. We also can't forget that we ran more screens and draw plays last night than we have in the last 3 or 4 seasons combined. AVP may end up being exactly what this offense needed. So, I'd suggest we have a little patience and bring this discussion up in about week 8 when we've had a good chance to see what Lynch and Jackson can do. We may all be pleasantly surprised. -
OK. Yes. Of we could get a trade like Dallas did for Walker, I'd do it. Heck, I'd trade any 2 of our players for that. But, let's be a little realistic. We're not going to get all that for Lynch. I'd have to see what's on the table, but I find it hard to believe we could get enough value (plus ou'd have to convince me we're not going to select another CB with the draft pick). Let's also bring ourselves back down to earth a bit. Yes, Jackson looked great last night. He was running those screens and I had visions of Thurmal out there. It truly was great running. But... he only had 15 carries for 57 yards. We need more running yardage than that. And that's what the 2 back combo of Lynch and Jackson gives us. We have 2 solid running backs, I really don't see any need to weaken that spot just so we can potentially improve somewhere else.

We lost this friggin goda$% game for 3 reasons.... 1. Too many dropped balls early. We could have extended several drives early on giving the defense valuable rest. But Evans, Jackson, TO and Nelson all had easy drops that hurt. 2. Too many bad penalties nullifying a good first down. It's hard enough to get a win, but they continually shot themselves in the foot with bad penalties at the worst of time. 3. The defense just can't get off the field on 3rd down. A big reason the time of possession was so skewed in favor of the $%@n pats* was the defense just couldn't stop them on 3rd down. With all these DBs, you'd think they could breakup a dam pass or two on 3rd down!

The moment A Super Bowl ends in Overtime
Dan replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is that too many people think that life is supposed to be fair and everyone is supposed to give you a chance. Well guess what... if you want the ball in overtime go out there and get it. Don't stand around whining that its not fair you want the ref to give you the ball too. The Titans had plenty of chances to get the ball and score. They didn't. Now you want to just give them the ball because they somehow deserve it? Why not change the playoffs and the Superbowl to a series? Ya know it's not really fair if some team just has a bad day. I'll tell ya why because football is do or die, not do or try again. -
Watching a little NFL Network and ESPN the last day or so... and Buffalo is getting absolutely no love. Rightfully so, IMO. ESPN did a breakdown of the AFC East - who to watch, breakout players, etc. Not even a clip of Buffalo getting beaten by someone. As a new viewer of football, you wouldn't have even known Buffalo was in the AFC East. It's one thing to get no love, but its something entirely different to be completely forgotten. It's shaping up to be a long season. Being a Bills' fan really isn't for the faint of heart.
