I wouldn't say he sucks. But, he does look slow this year. As I recall, during Preseason he said he gained weight this past off season to better help him take hits. ?? I wonder if he's still at the higher weight, because he just looks slow.

We definitely need a proven coach. However, this is not the week to be dumping on Perry, IMO. He had less than a week to wrap his head around being a HC and had to remotivate his team. I'd say he did that. Yes, he made several critical errors that probably cost us the game. But, in his first ever game as HC with just a few days; I'll cut him slack for a week. Wood's injury is just horrible. No other way around it. Here's to praying he can come back healthy next season. Agreed, Fitzy is not the guy. He's better than Trent; not sure how much of a compliment that is though. It wouldln't upset me at all to see Brohm next week or the week after. Why not, right? They got the guy; it had to be to see him play. I'm still puzzled by that move knowing you'll almost certainly have new HC next season. Is it just me... we lost and that always sucks; but, why do I feel so good. It's as though this huge weight has been lifted. Here's to better days ahead.

Moorman definitely bobbled the snap. No question.

Wilson to spend up to 10 million for coach
Dan replied to joshsin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, but wait till the Jets get in that neww stadium. They'll be unstoppable - easily Super Bowl favorites. How could they not be? They'll have a new billion dollar stadium. -
I think one of the differences, and of course this is pure speculation on my part, is that Ralph literally puts a gag order on staff at OBD. That's why we rarely even hear full contract terms. I get the feeling Ralph likes his privacy and demands it from his staff. Look at Fewell's answer regarding his conversation with Ralph; something along that lines of, "that's was something said between me and him". Period. No elaboration in any way whatsoever. Perhaps I'm wrong. But, if so, then it becomes extremely difficult for anyone to uncover the truth about the man behind the curtain.

COmpletely agree. I really hope it's a top notch candidate. We need that, if for nothing else, just to establish an air of credibility to the franchise again. However, if one is not hired, I don't think it necessarily means Ralph didn't try or want to. We'll just have to hope and see what happens.

The reports that make me happiest.

I disagree. Why is it that we don't know anything that's going on or we're being lied to, if someone other than Shannahan is hired? Just because a team source says they're interested in someone, that doesn't mean they have to or will hire that person. It simply means that... they're interested. So they'll research, review, and perhaps even talk to that individual. But, to continue with the Shanny example, suppose through that process it's revealed that Shanny wants to do something completely contrary to the ownership? Suppose, they make a huge offer to Shanny, but he turns them down - after his own careful consideration? Does that mean we were lied to? No, it means that for various reasons, that we may never know, Shanny didn't work out. So, why is ot a lie? It's not. The world is not black and white. Reporters write what they hear and research. But, that doesn't mean the story doesn't change a week later. And just because a story changes, that doesn't mean the initial story was wrong or a lie.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's strictly your defense of Trent, but rather how you're defending him, that is creating ire. For example, in this thread you've completely fabricated conjecture regarding TO as though he is the root of Trent's demize.

Are you implying that I have to actually read news artcles and consider the contet therein and, subsequently, draw conclusions from all those words? It'd be much easier if you just told me what to think in the headline. It would save us all a lot of time.

Tim, Something I would think might be an interesting indicator of things to come might be the practices. I'm a firm believer in the "practice the way you play" philosophy. Under Jauron this season (perhaps its been each season and I didn't pay attention until this year), it seems we haven't had a single week where all the starters practiced together for the entire week. That is to say, each of Chris Brown's practice updates lists players not participating in practice, and many times its seems Jauron was just giving the guys a day off because they weren't listed as injured. So, my thought is... this week and/or next week, does Fewell have everyone practicing? Do some of the players get a day off to stand around and "rest"? What's the demeanor at practice? Is it more "spirited" or does it seem "business as usual"? I'm sure everyone will be looking at the play on Sunday as some indication of how the team is responding to the HC change. But, it may be interesting to get some insight based on their practice habits. I'm not sure you're able to view the practices, but maybe you're in the know enough to get a handle on this. Perhaps I'm barking up a dead tree, as well. Either way, thought it was worth asking/posing. Dan

Anyone hear of any player reactions?
Dan replied to Kiwi Bills fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perry expects them to play like hell, as opposed to taking practices off, taking Sundays off, and not worrying about the score as long as they all tried real hard. I wouldn't expect the playes to like him at all. In fact, several of them are probably crying right now at the thought of actually having to practice this week. -
I'm sorry but if you watched that game and came away with "the Bills showed me something positive" then we must have watched completely different games. I saw a team that was underprepared and unmotivated. They made alot of mental mistakes, were consistently out of position, and in the end completely gave up; hence, the blow out score. In the past I could have argued that the players were at least playing hard for Jauron. But, after Sunday, it seemed blatantly obvious to me that he had completely lost the team.

Where were you and what was your reaction
Dan replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A friend, who's a Fin fan, texted me late afternoon. I did a quick check of TBD and saw an aritcle. Didn't have time to read it, just started calling my friend, then sisters to discuss the good news. I'm still somewhat in shock. It's hard to believe it actually happened. I hoped it would, I wanted it to, but no way did I think he'd be fired mid season. I'm staying away from the reports of looking for a new GM type stuff. Because, let's be realistic here, do we really want that? It'll certainly mean the impending end to mankind. So, I'm a little nervous that the end of days could be upon us. -

Guess which former NFL coach sold their house today?
Dan replied to bluenews's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, great players go a long way to making a great coach, but how many times did Shanahan's teams look unprepared? How many times did they lead the league in penalities? How many times were they in the playoffs? Shanahan is a great coach, period. If he were to end up in Buffalo, the the world would come to and end about 3 years sooner than expected. -
To be fair, could you possibly see anyone sitting through one of Jauron's pre game speeches and not fall asleep? It takes them a few series just to wake back up. Just about the time they get going, it's half time. And Jauron gives them a little nap time after milk and turkey sandwiches. By the time they all came out of their comas, they were home and tucked into bed.

It really doesn't get much better than: Q. What's your philosophy as head coach? A. Play like hell and win.

Why the fixation with hiring a big-name coach?
Dan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keep in mind.. this is the Bills. Whatever they do, it'll backfire on them. Seriously, though, very good point. IMO, the best thing a "name" coach would do is to help establish some credibility to the franchise. It would send a message that Ralph wants to win as opposed to just fill the spot. It may or may not translate into winning, but that's how I see it. -
Top 10 most badass animals native to the USA
Dan replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
True. Mosquitoes are just the vectors of disease-causing agents. But without the mosquito, those agents wouldn't be around. Yep. Plague, typhus, and a whole host of others things are pretty bad; but it's mosquitoes carrying diseases that kill more peoplle than any other. -
About time! Jauron's a goog guy and its always bad to have to fire someone, but this really did need to happen. Here's a thought about the timing: Given Bud Adams' display at the end of the Titans game, does anyone think that maybe 2 old school owners had something more riding on that game? And losing to Bud Adams was enough to finally push Ralph over the edge? Because, lets face it, as bad as they looked, it really wasn't any worsre than they've looked several times already this season?
-
Yeah.... Trent may be bad. But at least he keeps the ball between the sidelines. That was a bad way to end a bad game.
