  1. FWIW, when asked who should make it out of Brown, Carter, and Reed; Rod Woodson picked Reed. Also, said Tasker, although great, doesn't deserve to get in with so many other deserving, full time players still to get in.
  2. I see what you're saying. But, what if they found a proper price point for each channel. Let's just say at $3/channel. You'd have to select 20 channels to hit $60/month. I think that's a decent nationwide average (maybe not though). I'm guessing, here, but most people would probably select a feww less - maybe 15 channels. Given that scenario, you could charge $4/channel and the cable compnay still make the same. Of course some people would save money because they only want 5-10 channels. But, many would also want well more than 15 channels. So, they might even out. IMO, they'd probably make more money because people are dumb and they'd still want all the channels they've always gotten and watch only once a year. In the end though, I say screw it. If cable doesn't give you want you want, go satellite. I know not everyone can, but if that's the case... move. Yeah, but as a persosn without kids, I don't mind that so much because having smart kids makes the world a better place - theoretically. However, having people strung out on the couch does nothing to help society.
  3. Very much agree. For the first time in Buffalo, its not so much about trying to get the best wings. IMO, it's cool to get the Anchor Bar "experience" at least once. If you have the time, perhaps you can try a few other places. But, from someone that doesn't live in the area, it's cool to have been to the Anchor Bar so when people talk about Buffalo wings, you can say you've been to the place that started it all. And they're not bad at all. Far better than anything you'll get anywhere else in the country.
  4. That'll be Brady, thank you very much. Not saying he deserves it or not, just saying no way the league misses an opportunity to shower another award on the dude.
  5. I'll agree with all that. I had similar feelings after watching the game yesterday. My primary concern (if you could call it that), however, is for the overall "look" of the league. They look like amatuer hour out there in the those mickey mouse uniforms. Why can't they at least make them look like professionals? I did like the extra mics so you could hear the coach/QB discussions. And some of the other things like that. I wonder if they've tried to have players on their roster that some NFL team owns the rights to, similar to how they did with NFL Europa? It'd be kinda interesting to have a young player get some playing time in the UFL and then be able to be activated to an NFL roster right about now.
  6. I guess that's inflation. A few years ago, I was introduced to Two Buck Chuck at Trader Joe's. Pretty good wine. But $3!?! Is it 33% better now?
  7. I'm not old enough to recall the AFL's first season. But, I couldn't help but wonder as I watched that game (online) yesterday, were the early days of the AFL as amatuer hour as that? And I'm not talking about the play on the field. Although it was bad at times, it wasn't any worse than watching a Bills/Browns game. But, wow, that half time looked pathetic. The uniforms look like... yuck. The overall look and feel of the league looked like something a few kids in their garage dreamed up (no offense to kids in their garage). If the UFL wants to make it, they need to at least try and look like a professional league.
  8. While I completely agree with you, I'm not sure Ralph is trying the Snyder way - at least not yet. He's currently attempting to hire a highly credentialed and respected HC. A HC that would also serve as the GM. Hence, the concern that we need a GM first is negated if Shanahan is hired. If Shanahan turns down the offer, then I'll agree and completely fall into the "get a good GM first" camp. However, I see absolutely nothing wrong with going after Shanahan. For once, Ralph is going after one of the best names in the game. Yet, this is somehow bad? I asked the question earlier and, predictably, got no response. But, what would all the Ralph haters be posting today if he came right out and said Shanhan, Cowher, Gruden were not an option? What if he said he wanted to hire some relatively unknown, and completely unproven guy, to head up the FO and they were looking at any number of hot coordinator and college prospects to become HC? You and I both know what would be all over this board. So, if Shanny is hired, will it work? Will it get us to a Super Bowl? I don't know. But, it will almost certainly establish the Bills as a legitmate franchise. It will help to acquire FAs. It will go a long way to changing the losing atmosphere that currently surrounds the team. For now, I can live with that. In a few years, then we can talk about what it'll take to get to the Super Bowl. But, IMO, you have to learn to walk before you can run. And right now, the Bills are barely crawling. The point of my initial post, here, was proven by JohnC's repsonse. He doesn't care what Ralph does. He has little regard for the man and will, therefore, find fault in whatever moves are made. I suspected as much, but was hoping other posters might benefit from that insight. Consequently, they may take is comments regarding Ralph with a grain of salt.
  9. Tie game. 17-17. 2 mins left. Locos about to receive the ball.
  10. And it's an offensive explosion! 14-10. Florida
  11. Do they have zero budget or what? I mean seriously, couldn't they have gotten a highschool band and at least looked a little more professional?
  12. Nice link. Thanks.
  13. (above posts editedto save space) I agree with the above sentiments. However, I find it comical, to say the least, that many posters, 2 of which quoted above, have been posting for months, if not years, that Ralph is too cheap, Ralph only cares about making money, Ralph had no loyalty to Buffalo, Ralph will never do what it takes to win, etc. Then Ralph fires Jauron mid season, eating his remaining contract, publicly says he's willing to do whatever it takes to win, and clearly makes it known no one's job is safe. Almost immediately, posts surface that its all talk. Then Ralph/Brandon contact every big name coach on the list - reportedly with record money and control on the line. Now, we see posts that Ralph is desperate, chasing mirages. And now, he should go the cheap route and get an unproven GM and coach. It's a great world to live in where you can consistently change your target to suit your needs and forever prove that you're right and everyone else is wrong. There is no guarantee that anyone, Shanny or Chris Polian or whomever, will be successful here. I would certainly hope we could all agree with that. But, let me ask this... what would you be posting today if all the reports were that Ralph was not interested in Shanahan or Cowher and hadn't even contacted them? What if reports were that Ralph had his eye on some teams pro player scout as the new GM and some hot assistant as the HC? I think we all know. So, if Ralph contacts the top coaching prospects; he's desperate. If he hires a no name GM, he's cheap and never intended to build a winner. I just find it comical that no matter what Ralph or the Bills do, they're wrong. My point is simple. There is no sure, guaranteed way to build a winning franchise. Ralph said before the season began that this year was playoffs or bust. When it became overtly apparent that wasn't happening, he fired the HC and has now promised more changes. He's currently looking into the top name HC candidates and, reportedly, offering more than anyone ever thought possible. Yet, posters still act as though he's clueless and not doing what it takes to win. Can we just let the thing play out a little before we all continue to complain that Ralph is the worst owner ever in the history of owners? If you want to have even the appearance of objectivity, you should at least fain a little credit for what Ralph has done over the last couple of weeks. Then when you get back to your Bills' bashing, at least you can say you gave them the benefit of the doubt for a few days.
  14. You do realize that multiple teams have tried that approach for years and each of these teams has failed? Too bad we didn't bring in Haynesworth last year so we could be as good as the Redskins, huh?
  15. Isn't that what they tried in 2006? A first round QB with mobility and a strong arm that can throw in Buffalo. Free agent offensive linemen - G, RT, C. New OC from Rams.
  16. So you're not going to call Ralph cheap, and unwilling to do what it takes to win if he brings in an unheralded, unproven GM and first time HC to rebuild the team?
  17. There really doesn't need to be anything more said than this. Polian is in Indy. His son is staying in Indy. Hence, Polian will stay in Indy to continue working with his son. The Bills, as well as all other teams, have zero chance to hire either of them. Why don't we just sign Peyton Manning while we're at it? I mean it makes no sense to get a good GM without a good QB. Sure some might say I'm nuts saying we should sign Manning, but we have just as much likelihood of getting him here as we do Polian. I wonder if we could get Jeff Saturday, too?
  18. I've used the jack from my car.
  19. Perhaps the Bills have more leverage with Shanny and other potential HCs than some have suggested?
  20. Loved his answer in the press conference. Why did you practice outside today in the rain? "Never trust your local meteorologist." Good stuff. The guy is too straitght forward and honest in his answers to be a HC in the NFL.
  21. I was thinking he should have called a timeout just prior to the 2 minute warning. We would have used all our timeouts, but assuming the same number of plays for the Jags to score, we would have gotten the ball back with about 30-35 seconds more on the clock. So, what's better 1 minute and 1 timeout or 1:30 with no timeouts? 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the otherr with our offense quite honestly. Still, that's what I was thinking. The end of the 2nd quarter; however, was botched pretty bad IMO.
  22. Hamdan STILL Rocks!
  23. Without knowing any of the details of his contract (probably means you should stop reading and I should stop typing), but I think it's somewhat standard fair for the Broncos to have to honor the agreement, unless he gets another job. So, I would guess, if he signs with a new team the Broncos are off the hook.
  24. Much agreed. Another poster (couldn't find the post right now) said earlier that it'll be telling how many otherr interviews Shanny goes on over the next few months. Of course, he'll be somewhat limited to teams that fire their HC early, which may not be many. But, I do think it's a good point. It'll be interesting to see how many teams Shanny's name comes up with as HC jobs become discussed.
  25. I did too. And I still think we'll give the Fins a much more competitive game than we did the first time around as well. He certainly will have. And I think he knows that. The cards are definitely stacked against Fewell, let's face it. But, you have to think he, as much as each of the players, are interviewing for their jobs next season whether it be in Buffalo or somewhere else. I hope he does well and proves to us all that he does deserve the right to stay.
