  1. OK... let me see if I got this right. First, we're told the HC decision will be critical. So we wait... and get a completely mediocre, tired Gailey. No problem - as long as he hires good coordinators all will be good. So we wait... and get a Curtis Modkins as the first hire. A guy that is so unheard of that we don't even know enough about him to say anything bad, let alone make up something good. No problem. So now, it's the DC that's the really important hire. I guess the first two guys were really just decoration. So again, we wait. Let me ask though, when they fail in the DC hire, will the ST Coach then become the one that matters most? I'm sorry, but Nix or whomever is putting together one of the most uninspired coaching staffs I think I've ever heard of. Serious question - how many times has there been a highly effective HC that simultaneously had the responsibilities of the OC or DC?
  2. I thought Gailey developed a scheme best suited to his players. Why would they purge the roster to bring in players to run a specific type of offense or defense?
  3. I have a suggestion for Lori, please delete these idot's posts before Tim sees them. No offense to any one, but Tim's contributions to this board are great and greatly appreciated. The idiots have an entire board to spew in. Tim gets one thread. I appreciate it. I enjoy it. I don't think I speak for myself. It would be a shame to lose his insight and commentary.
  4. I'm blaming the messenger. Thanks for nothin, pal! seriously. thanks for the info now and before. whoever you are.... thurman.
  5. But we don't' really have the personnel for a 3-4 defense. So, if he's all about adapting a system to fit your players, how does that work? Or is that only on the offensive side of the ball? I don't know. No sure I really care, to be honest. nevermind.
  6. So that's our bar now? We want to get to 8-8? I'm sorry, no offense, but that would suck. You overhaul the coaching staff, bring in a new GM and shoot for 8-8 ; when we we're a year removed for 7-9 for 3 years.
  7. And they didn't become probowlers because they were drafted. It takes the right coach to make them probowlers.
  8. Well, for me, it's got more to do with hiring someone who has lots of upside, can infuse some energy into the players and fanbase, about trying to do something new. Gailey is the definition of retread, tired, tried and true mediocrity. His last HC job was 10 years ago. He's bounced around the league since then. So, yeah, he's got lots of experience. But, if he were the guy to turn a franchise around and energize a team, don't you think someone would have seen that by now? I'm sorry, but there's almost zero chance that this works out good. Sure, we may get lucky. But, wouldn't' it be nice to try and make a little luck by hire a true up and comer? So, now we have a retread HC, that's going to also be his own OC - how many times has that ever really worked out? He's talking about bringing in an unknown DC to teach the players. When did we become a college team, is my question? For some of us, it's not about hating any hire the Bills make. It's about have zero confidence in this hire suddenly figuring it out after all these years. Well... here's to luck, because we're gonna need it.
  9. Tim, you were at the PC. Couldn't you have done something to prevent this? It's like you just watched a train wreck and stood there holding the camera. Why didn't you jump in and help, somehow? Seriously, though, this sucks.
  10. Where was Thurman and Kelly today? Are they home, depressed and shocked like the rest of us?
  11. Imagine how terrible things would have been for Ice if they hired a competent coach. The Bills would improve, make the playoffs, become a respectable team. What could he about then? I'm guessing he's happy because he knows he gets 3 more years of telling us all how bad the team is, how cheap Ralph is; etc.
  12. I didn't read the linked article... but was number 1 retire? If not, I doubt anything after that really matters.
  13. A closeup up of a guy's face, painted in Bills colors, with a single tear streaming down. "Why?" on the bottom.
  14. thanks.
  15. Does it really matter?
  16. Same problem for me.
  17. OK. seriously. I've been busy all day. I haven't had time to watch the press conference and certainly not read every thread. I just skimmed the Official PC thread. Seriously, are they not bringing in a real OC? Seriously?! So we get one very underwhelming guy to be HC AND OC???? seriously.
  18. Yeah, but then we'll all start saying it's only preseason. They never show their hand in preseason; they want to keep it vanilla. Then September will start and we'll need alot more beers.
  19. With all seriousness, if he really is hired, he may have one of the toughest jobs in all of sports. Not only does he have to turn this franchise around, groom a franchise QB, get players to buy into him, but he's starting with probably 70% of the fanbase vehemently against him. In other words, he'll have almost no "honeymoon" period at all. So, his margin for error is going to be razor thin. I sure hope Nix and company know what they're doing because this has all the makings of a disaster.
  20. Watched him tonight. Apparently, he's posted a personal on Craigs list selling his services. linky do? Not sure how Craigs List works, but maybe we should all contat him on behalf of the Bills. He's also selling his Tonight Show set.
  21. Seems like the mods need to close these threads before they get out of hand.
  22. This thread is the one ray of levity I've had since this afternoon. Thank God for small favors. BTW, I nominate the post below for post of the year. It is hilarity incarnate.
  23. Trickle down? Or piss on our backs and tell us it's raining effect?
  24. Speaking of Schobel. I'm thinking his decision just got alot easier.
  25. If this Gailey news proves to be true, I'm going to be praying for a lockout.
