I would LOVE to switch everyone in my company to Macs. I use Macs for all my personal use (and some business) and love them. By far the most stylish, stable, and durable computers I've used. But, to switch 30+ computers to Mac would be a chore and cost of epic proportions. I've thought about doing 1 or 2 a year, but then you've got a mess of half with ones set of problems and half with the other. It's bad enough there's 3 or 4 versions of Windows out there (XP, Vista, 7, 64bit Vista/7). I'd really cause headaches adding Mac OS to the mix. Yeah, when I found that online coupon, it pretty well sealed the deal. I'm kinda anxious to see it. I've never played with a Lenovo, so we'l lsee how it goes. I can only guess the deal as good til 1/18 or while supplies lasted? Oh well.

I was going to suggest making a custom page yourself. It's been years since I did that, though. A friend told me about NetVibes a little while ago. I just did a very quick look at it and it seems to have all your requirements. Pageflakes.com is another one to look at that's just something different than the mainstream.

IMO, Billick would be the perfect hire. Now hear me out... see, right now the Nix is an idiot for not interviewing him. If he were to hire him, he could then be called an idiot because he hired a washed up retread that none of the other teams that needed a HC even interviewed. Because as we all know, no matter what the Bills do - it's the wrong move.

Technically speaking, I think they're giving up on the team because they interviewed a guy that may be coach. That's how bad it's gotten. We can tell just by who they're talking to in January that next Sept. we'll be the worse team in the league.

Agreed. All indications are that money is not an issue in this coaching search. My best guess as to why there's been no interest in Billick is that Nix (a) just doesn't like him or (b) wants to build the team differently from what Billick wants. If I remember correctly, Nix said something about wanting to work closely with the HC and have the same philosohy on the direction of the team. IMO, that's a great approach. To just dismiss Billick right off the bat, almost has to be something along that line.

Can we all just not react to the hype? So far only 1 assistant has definitively turned us down - BS. Rivera, In SD, has said not now. Perhaps that's a definitive "no", perhaps not. But, keep in mind, he's worked with Nix before. Maybe he knows that he and Nix don't see eye to eye on how to build a team. Not saying that's good or bad, just saying he may not want to work with Nix. And if so, that's fine. So, we have 1 Coordinator (possibly 2) that has turned us down. It's not quite the complete rejection of all things Buffalo that some posters would have you all believe. We have or will interview 4-5 guys (depends on whether you count Cowher or not) by the end of this week.

Yes and when the run game isn't working, that's when you need your QB to stretch the field. He never did that. Other than 1-2 throws per game. Defenses learned real quick how to stop Trent and he never figured out how to beat them. By early this yearm his confidence was sot and with it... his starters job. If sports writers in other towns are saying Trent is all that... my guess is they've never really seen him play and are completely unaware of the Bills team. What a shock.

I'm calling complet bull on this. The Bills FO and fans gave Trent every possible means to succeed. They annointed him the unquestioned starter. Then they cut the one guy "competing" with hi mto be starter (JP) and signed a good backup in Fitzpatrick. They got the biggest WR FA on the market in TO for him to throw to. All the while saying Trent is our guy and making him a team captain. It wasn't until he got injured and a bad QB like Fitzpatrick came in and suddenly the offense looked competent that his starter's position was questioned. The only thing the Trent suppoorter's have is the Oline. And, yes, the line was bad. But, Trent did absolutely nothing to help the line. His decision making was horrid, he held onto the ball, and generally looked shell shocked during games. Quite honestly, if someone is turning down the Bills' HC job because they realyl like Trent, well great. The last think I want is someone coming in thinking they can resurrect Trent's "career".

The primary diference between the Y series Lenovo that you spec'd out and that I spec'd out was a slighter faster processor (2.2 vs 2.1 Mhz); 4 vs 3 gigs of ram; and about 70gigs of hard drive. So is it worth $130 for that? I'm not sure what they reccommend for ram with Windows 7 (that's my concern)? The Vostro has similar specs to the Y series that I spec'd out, but it does have a 7200rpm drive. That's nice! And it has a 15" monitor - not sure he needs that. But, it's ugly. Not that looks are terribly important, but what is life without a little flare. But, it does seem like a good deal. A little more background: The guy's laptop went out about a week ago. I could probably fix it real cheap, but it's about 4 years old and he really could just use a new one. So, why not, right? So, I'd like to get it soon, but I can wait a day or 2. Well, I kinda like the 14" laptops, because he'll definitely travel with it. Not, that he needs something ultra portable (like those net books). Basically, I see the 14" as a compromise between portability and every day usablity. Although, I don't think the 15" monitors are that big. I think just about any processor speed and hard dirve is going to be fine. The bulk of all his work is Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet (email and web cruisin..... for porn). So, the graphic processing, gaming speeds, and all that are largely irrelevant. With that said, I'd kinda like to stick to the Core 2 Duo's as a minimum as well, just so it'll still be a decent machine 3-4 years from now. Thanks for everyone's input. ..... and lack of votes.

updated with this morning's Schotty news. So looks like we've asked to interview and been turned down by 4 guys. We've interviewed 4, with one more still to come (Grimm). And then the pickins get slim. Are we nearing the end of the search? If so, looks like Frazier or Grimm depending upon how he interviews.

I'm leaning Lenovo. I know Thinkpads are good computers and the ideapad is basically the same thing only not quite as well equipped. Dells seem to have become very average of late, but they're still pretty cheap.

I'm about to buy a new laptop for a coworker. I've kinda narrowed it down to these 2 options - they had similar features and the target price range. The Dell is $604. The Lenovo is $529. I know which way I'm leaning, but curious whay others think.

Looks to me like the Redskins and Shanny are such a joke that no one good wants to go there/
