Good question, too. I'd suspect there will be alot of running. Although it might make more sense to throw alot to get a good look at the QBs. So, who goes in second - Fitz or Brohm? I'd guess Fitz based on how they've been going in OTAs and Camp. Then they switch for game 2. It'll be interesting if Trent has a Carson Palmer type night.

Does Trent only play for 1 or 2 series in our first preseason game, like Romo and Palmer did? Or does he need to show more?

Here's my Training Camp Report from Saturday 8/7/10

Has Trent ever pump-faked? That's a serious question. I think there's possibly going to be quite a few opportunities fom pump-fakes, play action, outside single coverage, slot guys freed up by blitzing LBs; the mystery is... will Trent recognize and take advantage of any of that? A strong run game should open up plenty of passing opportunities. -

That's exactly what I expect opposing teams to do.. stack the line and force Trent to beat them. Which is why I really hope they have a lot of slants and quick passes in the offense. They're going to need it. -
I'm watching. Let the games begin!!

He does inspire ire for many a poster here. I, too, would prefer he just show everyone that he's a ball player. Unfortunately, I think he's too good of an interview (if you know what I mean) for the press to leave him alone at this point in his young career.

Trent's habit for staring down receivers
Dan replied to The_Philster's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
See, I've never seen that from Trent. To me, reading defenses means you make the right presnap read, and then get your pass out within 2-3 seconds. Trent's reading of defenses is all postsnap and it seems to take him 4-5 seconds to get a pass out. That's been his biggest problem - standing back there going through reads when he doesn't have that much time. Watch any decent QB, you'll see the majority of their passes - even the long throws - leave their hand within a second of dropping back. Watch Trent, he drops back and begins making reads. A couple of seconds later he makes a throw (usually to the dump off). Those few seconds are what separate the good QBs from the bad ones. What I've been watching for from my limited view of practice in the bb.com videos is, is Trent dropping back and throwing? Or is he dropping back, looking, then throwing? To me, he's still doing a lot more of the later. Also, if you watch, many of the nice throws have been after someone would have sacked or at least gotten a hand on him. Bottom line, it's still taking too long to get the pass out - as I see it. Maybe Mike or some of the other guys that have gone to camp can comment further. ?? That's why I've said in the past (and gotten ridiculed for it - perhaps rightly so) that they should simplify the offense and give Trent no more than 2 options on any pass play. It's like he's gotten it drilled into his head that he has to look at all 4 possible receiving target, first. Then go back to the best option. And, by then, our line has gotten him killed. -

Post of the day! Seriously, the best news I've heard about this team in a while. If Lynch starts running with authority, Jackson is his usual elusive self with the power to hammer people, and Spiller has the break away speed he's supposed to; we may not need a QB. -
Should we hope the bills lose games, like Jerry Sullivan said?
Dan replied to Hossage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Judging by Sullivan's articles and the arguments he makes, therin; I'd almost guarantee he's on this board. Maybe he's just an anonymous guest and doesn't post. But, all too often, I've read his articles and thought... wait did I click over to TSW by mistake. If had to warrant a guess... I'd say Sullivan is Hossage (is big green weenie is hogboy). And this is all some twisted game he's playing. He and JW had a few (sorry, JW, many) drinks and decided to toy with the mice. Oh, it's such a sick and twisted world in which they live. -

Excellent question. I await the answer as well. IMO, that has been Lynch's biggest drawback - he's been too indecisive/poor vision/whatever; he just doesn't hit the hole fast enough. Nice report again, Mike. Is it me? Or are we getting about twice the Training Camp action this year! All these 2-a-days; the full pads; the tackling/hitting. It seems they're getting a heck of a lot more practice in this year. Plus I really like the reports that the pace of the practice is quicker; plus it's longer. Impressive so far. I hope it translates to a tougher team and some wins. -
Agreed. Add to that; each of the DBs (and half the LBs) initial step at the snap was to run backwards. Our entire defense seemed to be predicated on backing up, to make sure the offense stays in front of you. We gave up few big plays; but let other teams matriculate down the field at will. By all accounts; that's exactly what he's done in camp - just gotten down to work. Should he walk away from reporters? Schobel did that; Lync does that; and what do people say about it? I think some people just dislike some players regardless of what they do or say.

Rice is truly a class act, through and through. Great speech (not so great delivery).

Speak for yourself. Not everyone is so hateful.

Not only do I remember, but my bookmark to D&C sports page is still called: "HyperBills home page". I think I still have the logo or graphic that was on there (grey box with bills logo), tucked away on my computer somewhere. just checked - it's in a friggin folder titled 1995 along with a few other old bills logos.

Yeah, I know. But, he can't say I didn't try. -

A little friendly advice... just let it go man. Seriously. -

well done, sir. -
Funny... I read your post and thought... man that's what I should said. That pretty much says it all. The world is not a fair and equal place. It's just not. Some people are just more important than others. And you've stated quite nicely, who leads this world.

Always nice when someone points out the flaws in their own arguments. Nicely done.

I'm not one of the old guard, nor the new guard. I'm just a guy that visits this site daily because I have no life and have for longer than I shall admit. I come here for the best Bills information and the comedy. Posters, suach as Lori and Tim and dozens others, provide the information and make this place better than any other. Posters, such as.. well the numbnuts know who they are, provide the comedy with their completely asinine posts. Granted, I have a twisted sense of humor. This place would be dry without the numbnuts; but would be pointless without the Lori's. With that said, I'd prefer the moderators ban more numbnuts if it helped retain more Lori's. If any of that made sense. Now, back yo your fun, old people. Thanks for allowing me to interrupt without your permission or consent.

I hope so. I guess, for me, Trent is just going to have to prove that he can be an adequate QB in this league. I keep waiting to see this good QB that so many people here talk about, but save a play or two each season, I just haven't seen anything to make me think he can lead a team. I hope he can because it would appear we're stuck with him.
-
The veterans they released a week before the seaon might have helped.
-
Then don't start him.
-
Good point. I would hope that Trent would first take care of his end of the bargain. That is he would throw the ball downfield rather than standing around looking indecisive. If he's doing that andd WR's aren't catching the ball or linemen are giving up on their blocks. Then I'd expect him to demand more. But, his biggest problem is he's trying to work on all this touchy feely crap when he just needs to work on throwing the ball faster to is WRs. Until then, I'll agree, he can't' demand anything.
-
Did you ever hear Kelly talking about trying to develop chemistry. No. He demanded it. The linemen and WR's did their job or he ripped teir heads off. That's when they developed a noce chemistry and all go along. He demanded it, he didn't' develop it. Brees is the unquestioned leader of that team. He doesn't talk about working on his relationship. He gets in the huddle, yells everyone into a frenzy, and then goes out and leads them to championships. I've never heard him talk about trying to develop some relationships. So, yes, they do it. But, they don't sit around and talk about it. They go out and do it. So, my stance is... Trent just friggin go out and lead the team and demand that they all get on the same page. Don't sit and talk about how you need to get better at it.
