Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz
Dan replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I, personally, gave Jauron a full 3 seasons before I officially gave up on him. Granted, I had my doubts prior to year 4, but held out hope he could turn it around. IMO, Jauron being a bad coached was measured by far more than just poor offensive production. As HC, he couldn't change the culture of losing on the team, he couldn't keep his players healthy, he couldn't make any in-game adjustments, he couldn't motivate or inspire anyone, he couldn't determine which players were starter and which weren't, he couldn't do many of the basic functions of a HC. Gailey, although I'm not in any way whatsoever so sold on, is doing a measurably better job in most all of those categories - already. If he sees his fault in hiring a piss-poor OC and DC, maybe he'll become a decent HC. The jury is very much still out. -
Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz
Dan replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Certainly a little of both. However, a much larger portion of the offensive ineptitude has to fall on Trent's shoulders based on the fact that Fitz has come in, twice now, to relieve Trent only to see the offensive production increase. I suppose you could prescribe to the theory that the coaches changed the offense game plan and preparation once Fitz started; but then still, wouldn't that indicate Trent is less than capable. -
Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz

Trent once said after a TC practice in 2009 (I believe), after looking pretty bad after a night practice; that he just had to get used to playing under all the bright lights with fans yelling. -
Sorry! I should have waited a little longer for you to bring 'em in... but I was bored.

There's far-leaning idiots on either side. Yes, some people think they're getting news from Stewart's show; despite the fact that its clearly not a news show and Stewart will and has repeatedly stated as such. But, for every person that gets their news from Stewart there's someone (actually I think ratings show it's quite a bit more that a 1:1 ratio) that gets their news from far right, entertainment programs. Case in point:

While I completely agree that Fitz has to prove over the course of the entire season that he's the starter for the future; let's also not discount past performances. For example, if he plays poorly against the Steelers, we shouldn't forget that he played exceptionally against the Ravens. Many of the comments this week remind me of JP's last season (please... I'm not turning this into a JP debate!). But, each week JP had to prove he was the starter. He played great against the Bengals. OK... but next week will be the real test. He played ok that week, but the Bills won. Yeah, yeah... next week will be the real test. That went on for about 3 or 4 weeks until he had a really bad game. And suddenly everyone had the cause to scream for his immediate benching. My point in bringing this up, again has nothing to do with JP, but has everything to do with people's over-inflated sense of what should be expected. In this league very few, if any, players (especially QBs) are great week in and week out. Most all QBs have good games and bad games. They all throw interceptions. So, we need to take all of Fitz's games into account and not try to ride him out of town the moment he has a bad game. So, yeah, he may be running for his life against the Steelers. But that doesn't mean he's only a backup no more than throwing 4 TDs against the Ravens means he's the future franchise Qb. That's all I'm trying to say.
-
Funny how just a week ago everyone was certain he'd be running for his life against the Ravens. Most didn't think he'd finish the game, let alone throw for 4 TDs. So, now he's got to prove it against the Steelers' D because the Ravens' D isn't tough enough? Every great QB in the league throws interceptions. Every great QB in the league has a bad game. Should the Saints draft a QB because Brees looked bad against Cleveland? You can't expect 350+ yards passing, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs every week. All you can expect from your QB is consistent, solid play that leads your offense and your team. FItz has given us that, so far. Is he the QB of the future? The next 10 games will go a long way to answering that question. But you can't expect perfection week in and week out. It's just not realistic.

The Fitzpatrick thread you knew was coming.
Dan replied to Van_phelaN1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Against the Jags: 20 of 30 for 220yds. 3 TDs/0INTs. 121.5 rating. (26 points scored) Is that not considered a good game? Man, for a franchise that's been as bad as we've been, people sure have high expectations. Or is it that Fitz has to over perform because... well he's Fitz and not a number 1 pick? -
But, don't forget, half the posters here are clueless. We essentially made no major moves this offseason. On defense we lost Schobel and then traded a few B-list players for a B-list players. On offense we lost TO and then traded a few B-list players for a B-list players. We did completely change the coaching staff. The defense has fallen off a cliff as far as production goes. The offense has risen dramatically. I think the evidence is clear - Edwards sucks balls as a DC and Gailey is light years ahead of AVP at running an offense.

Bigger impact - #1 pick or reversing the culture of losing

Agreed. /thread -
They are definitely looking bad. Bad, bad. It amazes me they get all the press and hype that they do when they're looking this bad for several weeks now.
-
But how much of that is... he can't get on the field. I mean the guys not even dressing now. How's he supposed to learn the system and get that feeling for the game if he's sitting on the bench. I'm sure there's more to it that just that. But, it's kinda like how Steve Johnson was a bad WR last year sitting on the bench and now after 6 games, he's looking better and better. Sometimes, players take longer to get that feel for the game.

The great fast food burger experiment has started!
Dan replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I know mold grows better at warmer temperatures and higher humidity (duh). Now, what's the critical temperature and relative humidity? I don't really know. But, if it's about 70 and fairly well ventilated, that could explain the lack of mold. A well-ventilated area will keep the humidity down; that's why bread in the plastic bag will get moldy well before bread just sitting out on a counter top. It'll be interesting to see how the shakes turn out. I'd expect them to get pretty moldly/bad relatively quickly in comparison to the burgers. So, in the end, maybe taking a relatively dry food and just setting it out doesn't really tell us anything about how long it takes the food to degrade. Maybe that's what you'll end up demonstrating above anything else; essentially, the McDonald's lady was just off-base in her conclusion that there's anything especially bad about a McD's burger. -

Any idea what the temperature and/or humidity is in your house? -
It's almost the best part of a completely blown call like that... watching all the talking heads go to all sorts of great lengths to defend what was so blatantly wrong. Just once, I'd like to hear someone come out and say... the Refs got it wrong and should be disciplined.

Prediction: Fitzpatrick Looks Bad Against Baltimore
Dan replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I may be so bold as to presume what other posters are thinking... but it wasn't so much the initial prediction, but more so his comments after the game yesterday that's quite off base. Yes, make a prediction. But then when Fitz has a career game - the best by a Bills QB in 4 years or so; while putting more offensive yards on the Ravens defense than any opponent in 10 years - don't come back with a condescending, "I think we can all agree it's pretty evident at this point that [Fitz] is mediocre at best...". Had he come back and posted a simple... I was wong. I'm sure this thread would have died. -
My guess.. they'd give him forward progress and mark it where he caught the ball. Unless, of course, his name is Nelson and the Bills are supposed to lose... then all bets are off.
-
Take a few tylenol and get some rest. It helps. FWIW... Bill says the the difference at RT was huge. I don't need to rewatch anything; Bill would tell us if Howard sucked balls. (Plus I watched the game too, and I wasn't drinking heavily.)
-
Thank you. That was essentially the point of my post - you just said it more succinctly. Either the officials are becoming exponentially more incompetent or games are fixed. I'm not even sure how the side judge ruled TD, initially. It was fairly obvious that the ball was coming out. Then to say you're not sure who had the ball, when the Dolphin player clearly gets up with the ball. In the Bills game they don't call a whistle on the Nelson play and allow a defenseless player to be held up, off the ground, until he's stripped. in the Fin game, they end the play in the middle of a fumble. So which is it... play until you hear a whistle or not? The inconsistencies and subjective nature of so many of today's penalties should alarm any fan of the game.

GDT: Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City (1PM ET)

Premature postulation. -
Thank you. I was hesitant to read this thread; but eventually had to confirm my initial assumption that even in the midst of a great offensive performance, there's still people that will find something to complain about. I guess we should take comfort in knowing that some things will never change. No matter what happens on Sunday, there will be someone at TSW on Monday complaining. In part, I think this team has sucked for so long that people no longer even know how to watch the game. The season isn't so much about watching football as it is calling out players and predicting drafts. Someone actually suggested yesterday... "if Fitz finishes as the #2 rated passer this season, we should trade him and draft a new QB". Clearly that individual has lost all ability to grasp the nuances of reality. The need for instant gratification has become rampant and veils entirely too many senseless comments and decisions.

? for you computer gee- ah experts.

Gotta be tied to the IP address. I travel quite a bit and notice the ads and crap change their location based on which town I'm in. So, cookies alone aren't going to do it. I've just assumed they're tracking the IP back to location. I've tried dumping all cookies, history, offline content, etc.; but they still track to location. And I agree, kinda creepy. -
Agreed. And I, like the Ravens HC, the announcers, and probably just about everyone else in the stadium and at home, took a gasp and said aloud; "You gotta be kiddin' me! Where did that come from." Absolutely great play by Fitz and Evans. If they can start doing that with any level of consistency (hitting post routes down the 20-30 yds down the middle); the days of 8-9 in the box are done.

Rough night, huh? Hangovers can be a b:censored:h. Don't worry, it gets better.
