GDT: Ghost Hunters - Live @ the Central Terminal
Dan replied to The Rising's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can't figure out why on these shows they have to walk around in the pitch dark. Do ghosts only come out when the lights go out? -
Why call 3 pass plays with 1:30 left in OT?
Dan replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. And it seemed like he was hell bent on proving Haley wrong the way he stayed with the spread offense that wasn't working all that well. -

Watching as well. Probably won't watch it all though. -
How many runs for negative yards did Jackson have?

How is the Trick or Treating in your area?
Dan replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No kids ever come by our house. Ever. I get all the candy. -
OK.. so you take a shot. But why not then try to settle down and get something positive after that? Nope, they stayed with the pass and look where it got them. Basic Football 101, when in the last minute of a tie game or OT and you're on the edge of FG territory, you keep it on the ground and get the tough yards to make that FG attempt just a little easier. All passes is likely to get you zero yards or a sack/INT - which is exactly what happened. OR at the very least line up to run and throw off that formation.
-
Well you're getting your wish. For the last 2 weeks we've gone to overtime and in both games, Gailey has chosen to let Fitz lose it by going empty back field and not even trying to appear to run the ball.
-
Yeah... all those bad matchups really paid off for us, huh? Problem with Gailey is he keeps trying to get cute when he needs to just line up and play the damn game sometimes.
-
What makes you say that? He touched the ball about 5 or 6 times in the first half. How can he even get into a rhythm or or anything?

Dan replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly... and that just compounded the problem. I could maybe see passing if they lined up in a run formation and threw off a play action. At least try to fool the defense. But lining up with no RB, you're just tipping your hand and making it too easy for a defense that was playing well and too hard for an offense that was struggling. It's just stupid. Also, can we get rid of the WR screen that has zero people out there to block for the WR catching the ball? -
Incorrect. Last week you talked like a drunken frat boy saying Howard was flat on his face half the day... which was wrong. This week, Howard was abused routinely. Hence, criticism is justified and warranted.

20 carries for 64 yards is 3.2 yards per carry, not 2.7. Two runs at the end of regulation makes a 53 yard FG closer to a 49-48 try. Much, much different.
-
I would agree, Spiller should be getting more touches as well. But, Jackson the #1 back got 20 carries in a 5 quarter game. So they averaged about 5 carries a quarter between the 2??? If we would have ran the ball more... I say we win the game.
-
I'm not sure which. How else do you explain the paltry number of carries Jackson gets when it's so blatantly obvious the line and Fitz are struggling? How else do you explain being on the very edge of FG range three times with a 1st and 10, and all 3 times going spread offense with no threat of running the ball? So, I ask... does Chan hate Fred Jackson? Or is he just :censored:ing stupid? The game was there for the taking 3 times, if they just give the ball to Fred a couple of times. Instead... they blow it. And blow it again and again and ....

why take 10 seconds off???

Going to the Rally to Restore Fear/Sanity
Dan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Just watched it on TV. It was pretty much what I expected... a satirical take on the news media and how they generate more division and fear than anything else, sprinkled with some music and humor. Of course most people... especially the news channels... won't get it. -
40 receptions for 564 yards (4th most in the league) for a 14.1 average. monster

Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz
Dan replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I, personally, gave Jauron a full 3 seasons before I officially gave up on him. Granted, I had my doubts prior to year 4, but held out hope he could turn it around. IMO, Jauron being a bad coached was measured by far more than just poor offensive production. As HC, he couldn't change the culture of losing on the team, he couldn't keep his players healthy, he couldn't make any in-game adjustments, he couldn't motivate or inspire anyone, he couldn't determine which players were starter and which weren't, he couldn't do many of the basic functions of a HC. Gailey, although I'm not in any way whatsoever so sold on, is doing a measurably better job in most all of those categories - already. If he sees his fault in hiring a piss-poor OC and DC, maybe he'll become a decent HC. The jury is very much still out. -
Linemen protect well, but they tip cap to Fitz
Dan replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Certainly a little of both. However, a much larger portion of the offensive ineptitude has to fall on Trent's shoulders based on the fact that Fitz has come in, twice now, to relieve Trent only to see the offensive production increase. I suppose you could prescribe to the theory that the coaches changed the offense game plan and preparation once Fitz started; but then still, wouldn't that indicate Trent is less than capable. -

Trent once said after a TC practice in 2009 (I believe), after looking pretty bad after a night practice; that he just had to get used to playing under all the bright lights with fans yelling. -
Sorry! I should have waited a little longer for you to bring 'em in... but I was bored.

There's far-leaning idiots on either side. Yes, some people think they're getting news from Stewart's show; despite the fact that its clearly not a news show and Stewart will and has repeatedly stated as such. But, for every person that gets their news from Stewart there's someone (actually I think ratings show it's quite a bit more that a 1:1 ratio) that gets their news from far right, entertainment programs. Case in point:

While I completely agree that Fitz has to prove over the course of the entire season that he's the starter for the future; let's also not discount past performances. For example, if he plays poorly against the Steelers, we shouldn't forget that he played exceptionally against the Ravens. Many of the comments this week remind me of JP's last season (please... I'm not turning this into a JP debate!). But, each week JP had to prove he was the starter. He played great against the Bengals. OK... but next week will be the real test. He played ok that week, but the Bills won. Yeah, yeah... next week will be the real test. That went on for about 3 or 4 weeks until he had a really bad game. And suddenly everyone had the cause to scream for his immediate benching. My point in bringing this up, again has nothing to do with JP, but has everything to do with people's over-inflated sense of what should be expected. In this league very few, if any, players (especially QBs) are great week in and week out. Most all QBs have good games and bad games. They all throw interceptions. So, we need to take all of Fitz's games into account and not try to ride him out of town the moment he has a bad game. So, yeah, he may be running for his life against the Steelers. But that doesn't mean he's only a backup no more than throwing 4 TDs against the Ravens means he's the future franchise Qb. That's all I'm trying to say.
-
Funny how just a week ago everyone was certain he'd be running for his life against the Ravens. Most didn't think he'd finish the game, let alone throw for 4 TDs. So, now he's got to prove it against the Steelers' D because the Ravens' D isn't tough enough? Every great QB in the league throws interceptions. Every great QB in the league has a bad game. Should the Saints draft a QB because Brees looked bad against Cleveland? You can't expect 350+ yards passing, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs every week. All you can expect from your QB is consistent, solid play that leads your offense and your team. FItz has given us that, so far. Is he the QB of the future? The next 10 games will go a long way to answering that question. But you can't expect perfection week in and week out. It's just not realistic.

The Fitzpatrick thread you knew was coming.
Dan replied to Van_phelaN1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Against the Jags: 20 of 30 for 220yds. 3 TDs/0INTs. 121.5 rating. (26 points scored) Is that not considered a good game? Man, for a franchise that's been as bad as we've been, people sure have high expectations. Or is it that Fitz has to over perform because... well he's Fitz and not a number 1 pick?
