  1. They've been trying to do something about that for quite some time. There's been multiple lawsuits filed over the years claiming all pesticides and fertilizers are pollutants. The end result is we now will have to file NPDES Permits to apply pesticides that may enter a "water of the US" which is being redefined from the original CWA definition to include pretty much any water any where. Long story short.... farmers have an extremely large and powerful lobbying group; hence, their applications are all exempt. Imagine that.. the largest applicators are exempt. So, although I completely agree that they'll try and force these regulations on farmers, I'll be surprised if they are ever successful. However, if I were you I'd definitely stay aware and make sure larger farms are aware.. to get all the lobbying power behind you.
  2. Gotcha. I'd bet far more than a million. Carpenter ant colonies can be extremely large.
  3. I guess I'll defer judgment until I see them play Sunday, but I can't help but wonder... is this coaching staff just with us? Can they really think that's the best lineup and use of players? I'm betting they all wear shoes with velcro straps.
  4. A trick someone showed me about fruit flies. Take a little Apple Cider Vinegar, put it in a cup, put plastic wrap over the top (with rubber band), poke a few small holes in it, let it sit. The flies will be attracted to the vinegar, fly in, but not be able to get out. Might be worth a shot... cheap and easy at least. Mosquitoes are good for population control. They kill a few hundred million people a year. Imagine how many more idiots we'd have on the plane without them. Plus they put food on my table. Most are resistant to DDT, so that probably wouldn't work. Interesting tidbit: mosquitoes do play a role as pollinators as the adults will rest in flowers and highly vegetated ares during the day. Bed bugs were, at one point, nearly non-existent in the US. They've rebounded (obviously) largely due to increased ease in international travel and the banning of the pesticides that were used to control them. Today, with the products available, it's extremely difficult to completely wipe out an infestation. Hence, the current problem. Heat is probably the best way to do it now a days. Don't know of anything that eats them. Best way to get rid of carpenter ants (or any ants) is with baits. There's quite a few commercially available that work much easier than chopping down the tree. But, I guess you wouldn't get the firewood by just killing the ants. Not sure which insect I'd like to see eliminated. I'd probably go with all Jet fans before I would an insect species. Talk about being useless and obnoxious....
  5. At this point... I think I'd settle for just watching the Bills play a football game. It feels like it's been about 6 or 7 years since I've actually seen the Bills play football. I watch people with the Bills logo on their helmet each week stumble around the field. But, it seems like forever since I've seen them play and look like a competent football team. ... ok... that's all too much perhaps. I'll change my request to being able to carry The Senator's bags on his next "vacation".
  6. learn the new rule changes, watch tape from the previous season to learn from their mistakes, work out so they're in shape to run around the field, practice in-game situations, rest, ya know generally focus on doing their job better so we don't have one or two questionable calls per game per week.
  7. Yes. I've even been offered loaner shoes before.
  8. Isn't that kinda what they did by cutting Trent and Mitchell, and then trading Lynch? IMO, benching Evans would be akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.
  9. Get rid of the stupid "excessive" celebration penalty after a TD. Players celebrate more after a sack than they do a TD. It's just dumb and doesn't slow the game down at all. Get rid of the challenge flag, review thing all together. Put another ref in the booth that can look at the replays and call the proper decision down to field. Why do they need to stop the game and make the guy walk to the sideline and waste all that time? Why give the HC the responsibility of "policing" the refs and penalize him if he's wrong? While they're at it... make the refs full time employees of the NFL. Why are they part timers anyway? Makes no sense. Stop treating the QBs like they're wearing a skirt. If a QB a QB takes off running, he's fair game just like a RB -no slide crap. If the league wants to protect their QBs, tell them to stay in the pocket. I know there's furor over the bad hits and all lately. But, they have to find some way to distinguish between a deliberate blow to the head and an inadvertent hand touching the QBs head, or the safety hitting the WR legally, but in the process of the tackle someone's head drops and they make contact. Take the stupid tuck rule off the books, completely.
  10. ...reason number 1 why fantasy football is ruining the game for people that actually like to watch the game. All we get are stats, stats, and more stats - and no understanding of the game. Knee jerk moves? You do realize that you're talking about the same FO that looked at 3 years of film on Trent, had him #1 through OTAs, TC, Preseason, and it still took regular 2 season games to convince them that the guy was not a starter. The same FO that could have traded Lynch prior to the 2010 draft; but decided to wait until the regular season started to make essentially the same trade - effectively setting back any "progress" from that trade a full year. The same FO that didn't make a final decision on Schobel until well into the preseason - effectively making it impossible to bring a viable replacement pass rusher in 2010. I think knee jerk moves should be the last of your worries. This FO seems to be moving at a snail's pace when it comes to evaluating players and making moves to improve the roster. If anything, I'd be worried that they don't fall asleep and miss day 1 of the draft next year.
  11. The Jags look horrible. How did we lose to this team... at home no less? Shameful.
  12. So Chan calls Fred's number what... 4 times in the second half of our last game. I'm sorry but there's plenty of reason to 2nd guess Chan's coaching after the first 5 games. I'm not saying fire him; I'm just saying his game preparation and in-game play calling has left a lot to be desired.
  13. Outside of Kelsay, Green, Ellison, and perhaps Billy Buffalo is there anyone that really wants to be here?
  14. Crap, I guess if you read the directions, you see that? Oh well...
  15. I completely agree. And, that, is my point. Numerous posters here have said that Merriman is washed up and always injured. That's exactly what I, and many others, thought about LT when the Jets signed him. Well, how smart do the Jets look now for picking up the often injured, washed up LT? I'm not saying Merriman would experience a similar resurgence here. I'm merely suggesting that given the state of out LBs; it's a no brainer decision to bring him in and see.
  16. In part... yes. I watched most of that game and Seattle won because they played with an offensive philosophy of pounding the ball early with Lynch, switching to Forsett when the defense was getting beat down. And, of course, mixing in plenty of passes to keep the defense honest and off balance. No offense, but you sound like all these FF guys that look at an individual stat line and think that sums up the value of a player or team. The Seattle offense looked very complete yesterday and Lynch was an integral part of that.
  17. Perhaps he's just a washed up as LT was before he signed with the Jets? Injuries and a bad situation and can go a long way to making someone a has been Bottom line: He'd be the best LB on this team the day they signed him. As was mentioned, "It would be nice to see Nix and Co. actually make a move that might add a little to the team..." Would he return to form and be a great player? Who knows. But, there's little doubt he could out preform the likes of Kelsay and Ellison and Moats and whoever else we have running around back there pretending to be busy while the RB runs past them.
  18. No doubt... something about that "...cisco" that just makes my dyslexia kick into hyperdrive.
  19. got all 32 with 1:10 left. If I could spell san francisco (and typed faster), i could have finished a bit quicker.
  20. Exactly. What I don't get is that for all the talk that it'll take 3 years to rebuild and they have to evaluate talent and they're building through the draft; people forget that this IS year 1 of the Nix Gailey regime. Nix was here all last season. So why is he allowing players to start this year that he should know needs to be cut? Nix actually had his first draft already. By all accounts, it was an average one at best. We got a RB - perhaps the strongest position on the team at the time - and a bunch of question marks that can't even get on the field. They failed miserably to address the Oline or the LBs in the last year. And they made token "improvements" in the Dline. So mid first year (roughly), I'd say this new regime is off to a very shaky start. I just don't get all the optimism that Nix has a plan and he'll execute it. He's been with this team long enough to see some sort of a plan starting to take shape. Yet here we are at the bye week with the team getting off to the worst start in 25 years, with the defense looking as bad as they ever have in franchise history, and the offense completely lacking any identity or cohesion. Of Nix's primary hires; Gailey is looking very much over matched and the OC and DC are looking completely clueless. Yes, it's too early to completely judge Nix/Gailey. But, at some point they're responsible for the mess of this team. And certainly a portion of the current mess is very much on their shoulders. There was absolutely no reason to start this season with essentially the same Oline, QB rotation as last year; and to switch to a 3-4 defense without adding any real help to the LBs. But, that's what they did.
  21. I've been denied entrance into quite a few bars/restaurants because of a business casual dress code. Hell, it happened just last week. What's the big deal? Establishments set dress code standards to try and attract a certain clientele. These guys should do like I do... either take the loaner tie/shirt or take your money elsewhere. The fact that they're WWII vets has little to do with it. I guess that's not PC though.
  22. All true and good points. But, I would suggest that it's always good to never let yourself get too high or too low. You always have to keep a sense of humor about yourself and your situation. I don't see the posters here (myself included) necessarily criticizing, but rather trying to help the OP have a sense of humor about his situation.
  23. Why is it every time I flip on the Pats* game there's a challenge review? It seems their games always have the most questionable officiating of the day.
  24. Agreed. Seattle got what is likely to become a multiple year 1,000 yard back. We got what we'll be lucky to have become a situational backup.
  25. NFL Sunday ticket. Lynch 3 rushes - 21 yards.
