Kiper gives Bills low marks in draft
DOGNESS replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kiper sucks. If he was so brilliant some NFL team would pay him 5 million a season to run their draft. Hell begrudgingly bump the grade up to a B when he does his regrading. If this was New England's draft he'd be going on and on about what a genius the hoody is. -
WR Stevie Johnson traded to San Francisco 49ers

Its not my money so who cares? -
Agreed. Deep draft. Got our tackle. This offense should be solid. Time to run over some people then go over the top when they put eight in the box.

Did the Bills pay too much to move up for Watkins?

FIRE WHALEY NOW. This trade is an outrage. A combination of both!!!! -

Yep. Lets ignore all the good moves and focus on the ones we dont like. Whaley is terrible. Fire him now. -

No loss. Nothing but losing while he was a Bill. -

Got the best receiver in the draft and a dynamic playmaker that defensive coordinators will have to gameplan for. Great move. Absolutely worth the risk. Plus the fact we kept our second rounder this year in a deep draft is a bonus. Picking tenth every year has gotten us nowhere. -
RD1, Pick #4: WR Sammy Watkins - Clemson

Russel Wilson. Third round. Colin Kaepernick. Second round. Nick Foles. Third round. Ill take my chances on a qb after the first round if EJ doesnt pan out. Weve got so much to lose having missed the playoffs the last fourteen years dont we? -

Could not love this move more. This guy will be a superstar. Next years pick will be in the twenties so who cares. You rarely get a chance to pick a guy like this. Everyone hating on this move is clueless. -
It will be Zack Martin then a RB in round 2

There has been way to much press about the Bills taking a tackle. To the point that Im starting to think its very unlikely they will take a tackle at nine. I expect them to trade back. Maybe with Dallas for their first and second. If no QB's are taken by nine the value of that picks goes up. Some team will want to trade up to nine get the QB they want. Their first and second would represent fair value. -
Bills actively trying to TRADE UP.

To much is what it would cost -
He wont be there at 26. Pettine is going to have plenty of input on that pick.

Hey Rookie (2013) with EJ is on now
DOGNESS replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a huge year for EJ. Many in the media are saying Buffalo has playoff caliber talent. EJ is the big question mark. Have my fingers crossed that he can be the difference this year. -
My bad. You guys are right. How dare I question anything the Bills do. I mean lets look at the big picture. Superbowls Champs 2000-2008. Then again 2010 -2013. I mean really. With 13 Vince Lombardi trophies over the past 14 seasons why in the world would anyone question what this team does? What was I thinking? Its obvious Schwartz will set records in every single defensive category this year. Records that will never, ever be broken. Im expecting 300 sacks. 200 ints. 250 Fumble recoveries. 350 defensive points(in the first half of the season alone). Negative rushing and passing yards for the entire year. I should just revoke my right to be a Bills fan. Ill try to do better. Where can I buy my pom poms BTW. Any advice would be appreciated.
-
Yea. That makes me feel a bit better. There is definitely room for more improvement and Schwartz did have a top twenty D in Detroit the past few years. I think Im a little snake bit by the disaster that was Wannstadt so anytime I hear another coach talk about 4 man rushes and one on one battles I tend to get a little stressed.

Moving the draft to May was a really bad call.
-
Yea. I really dont get the angry reaction Im getting from some of you. I try to look at things objectively. Obejctively includes criticism and concern sometimes. Ive been following this team since I sat on my fathers lap in 1973 watching the juice cut up something(opposing defenses) other than his ex wife. My loyalty and love for this team is inarguable. I also am not one of these fans who complains about everything they do(see my comments on EJ for that one). Having concerns or criticising your team(when reasonable) is nothing to apologize for. I simply dont want to see this defense turn passive when it looked like they were taking major steps forward last year under pettine. Was last years D' perfect? No. But it was a heck of alot better than what weven been subjected to the past decade or so. Just not real thrilled about some of the things Ive heard. The proof will be in the pudding, one way or another, come September.
-
Not at all. Just voicing concerns. Schwartz's defense might be better if it can stop the run. I havent once said this defense is 'destined' to fail. Im just raising some questions. Our defense was on the verge of being dominant towards the end of last year. The Dolphins game comes to mind as one of the more outstanding defensive performances over the last ten years. The personnel we have is geared towards a very aggressive scheme. Schwartz does not have a resputation for being overtly aggressive. Well see what happens.
-
2012 would be two years ago. 2013 was last year. So Im just as confused as you. I just hope the addition of Schwartz doesnt mean the end of Nickell Roby blitizing on third and long. Yea thats a real oversimplification but it captures the essense of what im talking about. Or them blitzing two DB's high so the QB steps up into Mario(something they did quite a bit last year).
-
On another note are we expected to be cheerleaders here? This team hasnt made the playoffs in thirteen years(or is it fourteen). I LOVE(YES LOVE) alot of what theyve done. I think Whaley has done a tremendous job with the acquisition of talent in the short time hes been GM. He reminds me alot of Polian when Polian was the new Bills GM. Very good drafter. Even better at getting cast offs from other teams to come in here and contribute(Mike Williams was a steal for a 6th rounder). But we are talking about the same head coach who refuses to fire his best friend(crossman) despite lousy special teams play(something that completely undermines Marrones credibility IMO). So I thinks its valid to be a bit concerned over the guy he chose to replace Pettine.(Personally I would have looked at an assistant from another team whose philosophy is similar to Pettines. Somebody off Pittsburghs staff perhaps)

Did you watch the defense in 2012? 22nd in the league. If anything your validating my concerns.
