  1. He has been awful. Truth be told, his best option may be to add a little weight and play inside on passing downs.
  2. The DT position is thin but at the same time I think that they can be okay if healthy. Shaq May kick inside on passing downs. The pass rush was brutal last year with those guys (minus Murphy). Hughes and Lorax are potentially in their last year(s) with the Bills as it is. Neither is in great shape imo but I think pass rush is more important. I wouldn’t be mad about improving either though.
  3. I agree, I’m concerned with their ability to get to the passer. The secondary is good to great but could be even better with pressure.
  4. Maybe so, but clearly the pay cut didn’t work. Now you are at odds with a volatile personality over money that wasn’t needed. It certainly wasn’t worth it.
  5. And we wonder where Bills fans get these ridiculous ideas....
  6. Bowman and Delvin Breaux would be immediate upgrades. Adding those 2 allows more flexibility in a trade up. There are others that fit that description as well but that would be how I went. Howard would have been a much better idea than Newhouse.
  7. I think that’s fair. To me, Jackson is all or nothing. He’s either going to be good or bad. That’s kind of how I feel about Allen too. The rest of the picks will plug some holes and if Jackson is “boom” it’s one of our best drafts ever. If he busts out you have a good collection of talent and swing again next year or in 2020.
  8. He might be but I could see him being a climber. He was dominant at the Sr. Bowl and isn’t unknown in the scouting circles. The media hasn’t spent a lot of time on him because he’s a small school, day 2 prospect. I would be more than pleased if the actual draft played out like this mock has so far. At 96 get another OL or pass catcher.
  9. They called it a restructure but it was actually a pay cut. I think it amounted to like $1.75M or something. I totally agree with you on the first part.
  10. So it was about the pay cut? Shocking I don’t see this getting prettier. Richie is furious over the pay cut and Beane will play hardball as he did with Boldin. Be ready for shots in the media.
  11. I don’t think that’s the case. I think Jackson/Rudolph are potential options. I don’t think that it’s some conspiracy theory; they just happen to be the top guys available by the time that the Bills pick. Incognito retiring created one more hole on an already bad roster. I don’t think that it changes their plans but it may slightly alter the price that they are willing to pay. If that’s the case the odds of Jackson/Rudolph probably increases some.
  12. True on paper but if the Bills offered a 2019 1st they would JUMP at that opportunity.
  13. I said to get the QB now. The 2019 pick though is the last thing that should be added. That’s the best asset. Start with 12, 22, 53 and 65. That’s a big offer. Add assets from there (96, 56, next year’s 3rd, etc...).
  14. I didn’t want to give it up before and am less inclined now. This team doesn’t have a lot of talent and will almost certainly be picking in the top 10. Keep adding assets this year to get your QB and if you stink, you stink.
  15. That’s the risk that you run though. No one is “happy” about a pay cut though. “Reluctantly accepted” is what happened. The Bills (and every team) realize that whenever a guy is asked to take a pay cut he isn’t going to be happy. You know that going in and you have to be able okay with whatever comes of it. The Bills clearly didn’t want Incognito to retire.
  16. They basically wanted him to take a pay cut and play. The end results were: - he declines pay cut and they keep him - he declines pay cut and they cut him - he accepts pay cut and plays - he accepts pay cut and then retires unexpectedly Richie walking away at this point isn’t the ideal situation for the front office. At least it is before the draft but now he is altering their plans. They lost control in the situation. This isn’t the outcome that they hoped for.
  17. I don’t disagree but they lost the game of chicken.
  18. Again, the problem is that on the outside we decide what is enough. In your opinion he should be happy with $4M. That isn’t what Pro Bow guards get paid. The market is all that matters. He feels slighted (and should). At the same time the Bills did what they thought was best for them. They played Russian Roulette though and lost. Their Pro Bowl OG retired 2 weeks before the draft. They missed a chance to address it in FA. I’d bet in hindsight they wouldn’t have gone with the pay cut.
  19. There certainly is a sliding scale. At the same time look at the contracts of the Pro Bowl guards (he’s been to like 3 in a row) and see how many of them are in line with his (especially true after Martin signs his massive extension).
  20. I don’t disagree but there are a lot of other factors. He’s in his mid-30’s and maybe isn’t ready to start over? It was worth grinding it out at $7M but not $4M? That’s perfectly reasonable (and the likely scenario seeing as he fired his agent). It sounds like he reluctantly agreed and after further consideration it wasn’t worth it. Certainly, but I don’t know a person that is okay with that. Generally people want, and expect, to be paid market value. He is not currently getting market value.
