Bills #96 Pick Poll TSW Mock Draft
Kirby Jackson replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted Dashawn Hand based on the talent and versatility. It wasn’t that long ago that he was the top recruit in the country. I held of on CB because I think Avonte Maddox from Pitt is their target in the 4th or 5th. They’ve really shown an interest in him. Kerryon doesn’t do much for me. I know he was dinged up vs. Alabama but he looked a step slow. I’m not a big fan of upright runners either. There are other backs that I prefer. -

I referenced it in another thread but a Bills - Browns trade makes more sense. The Bills give up 12, 22 and 56 (as an example) for pick 4. The Browns turn around and trade 12 and 35 for 6 or 7 (and still get their elite guy). The Browns will start the draft with something like Allen, Barkley, and then have 22, 33, 56, 64. -

There has been a lot of turnover this offseason and thought that this would be a fun (potentially depressing) topic. 1. Shady 2. Hyde 3. White 4. Poyer 5. Hauschka 6. Vontae Davis 7. Hughes 8. Clay 9. Benjamin 10. Kyle What does your list look like?

It is amazing that people have confidence in guys like that.

It makes sense.... I’m not saying that he is right or wrong but at least it’s logical. Everyone gets the guy that they want in this case and the Giants and Browns get other assets as well. -
He would be a great fit with his lack of separation.

This is the answer

I think that the answer is Allen or Jackson. I voted Allen because Jackson will always be an elite athlete. If he is awful as a QB he could still be a dangerous receiver/returner. He is elite with the ball in his hands. Allen is a good athlete as well but I doubt he gets a chance elsewhere (like TE). Both have high ceilings and low floors as QBs.

Hanging on to 2019 1st round pick

The Browns are a sneaky good option. The Browns want to get their QB at 1 and an elite player at 4. What if the Bills offered 12, 22 and 56 for 4? The Browns would have 1, 12, 22, 33, 35, 56, 64, 114, 150, 175 and 188. The Bucs or Colts could easily slide down. Say the Browns gave the Bills 4 for 12, 22 and 56 and then turned around and traded 12 and 35 for 6 or 7? They could maybe get the EXACT same player as they would have at 4 and will have turned the 35th pick into the 22nd and 56th. That’s a great move by them. Again, this assumes (which we don’t know) that the Bills have the QBs graded closely. The Bills are thrilled because they get their QB, preserve their 2019 capital and picks 53, 65 and 96. Win - Win imo -
Those are awful!! Looks like something my dad would wear. Big swing and a miss from New Era.

Hanging on to 2019 1st round pick
Kirby Jackson replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That’s where we differ. I’d rather have a top 10 pick in 2019 than preserving, 53, 65, 96 and next year’s 2nd (or whatever it will be). I would rather 1 star than those 4 picks. The ammo isn’t the issue for the Bills, it’s the trade partner. Depending on how the Bills have the QBs ranked the Browns at 4 could be the play. 12, 22 and 56 or something like that? This morning on Good Morning Football they were mocking the Browns 4th pick and the Patriots offered 23, 31 and 43 plus Malcolm Mitchell. I think that 12, 23 and 56 blows that out of the water. Again, this would assume that the Bills have all of he QBs ranked pretty closely. -

That would be an insane price but I’m cool with it. You’d get your QB and can still add a couple of pieces this year. Next year will be primarily through FA but you can still get a star DL. That’s the quickest way to be good IMO. Get your QB and build an elite defense. The secondary is close, if you add something like Darnold/Rosen, Ragnow, Leonard, Pettis and Nick Bosa over the next 2 drafts I’m feeling pretty good. My my point being, I’ll trade 4 quarters (2nds and 3rds) for a dollar all day. It when I start trading a dollar and quarters for a dollar that I get concerned. IMO Darnold/Rosen & Bosa are both dollars and at the toughest, and 2nd toughest, positions to fill. Get your QB now but the 2019 pick is the absolute last asset that you include. -

I’d rather use 5 of the top 96 picks or even next year’s 2nd (which should be in the 30’s). You can put together a monster package that no one can touch and still preserve that 2019 1st. 12, 22, 53, 65, 2019 2nd and 4th. That’s an example of a monster ransom. It would be one of the biggest prices ever paid (if not THE biggest). -
Hanging on to 2019 1st round pick

The Bills can get the QB this year without including next years 1st. They have the assets to do it. No one can put together a package that can beat 12, 22, 53, 65, etc... You have plenty of ammo to go up. The value charts say as much. Every team will ask for your 2019 1st because it’s your best asset and everyone knows it. Don’t get worked over. Just keep adding picks this year, but don’t act desperate. -

The last mock I looked at had 12 DL in the first round next year and something like 7 in the top 10. It could be historically good. -

Next years class is loaded (just not at QB). Use the picks this year to get your QB. Preserve your picks next year to get an elite defensive line prospect. -
Probably so, because we saw him be special. I’m not sure that he ends up as the best of these 2 drafts or not. What he showed though is enough to know that he can be successful. He basically removes the risk at this point which is why I would.

Never got into a fight over the Bills but I did get stabbed in a fight in college. I had to identify the dude in a police lineup and testify in front of a grand jury. The guy is actually serving like 25 years or something. This would have been in 2003 so I don’t know if he is out yet. He had a pending hate crime against him at the time. He was also the prime suspect in a murder investigation where the guy was killed with a hatchet (don’t know how that turned out). Nothing to do with the Bills but it’s a good story nonetheless...

That’s a good answer

I’m not sure that an argument can even be made that White wasn’t a top 5 rookie. Lattimore, Kamara, White, Watson and ????
-
Yeah, I’m not sure that Watson doesn’t end the best of them. I liked Watson but loved Rosen and Darnold at the time. I thought that this was a great class and a 2nd 1st would get a top guy. I don’t at all regret it. The Bills approached that draft EXACTLY as I hoped they would. I’m not going to be a hypocrite now. The reality is that the Bills just have to be right. They are going to get a guy and some of them, not all of them, are going to be good. The Bills just need to be right.
-
I loved the trade at the time and am not changing my mind. The 2018 QB class was the one that I liked. The Bills are going to end up with a QB that I wanted and a Pro Bowl corner. They did fine.

What was risky about Watson?

Check out Devin White, the LB from LSU. He’s a year or so away but he’a McDermott’s wet dream. He’s 6’1”, 255 lbs and is sub-4.5. He’s going to be an absolute star. Put him on your radar. https://youtu.be/Q0keWriEjo8
