  1. FWIW, I’ve heard similar. It’s not a good situation.
  2. Allen should give us reason for optimism and for pause. He’s the most physically gifted QB to ever put on a Bills uniform. He has a ways to go but we should all be excited about “what could be.” If he turns into “the guy” this team may be competing for Super Bowls. I don’t think that it’s time to fit him for a gold jacket but there nothing wrong with being excited that he’s here.
  3. That’s where I am at (although I think the defense might be really good). We are going to have a hard time scoring. If Allen looks the part it could be a game or so better. I’m okay with this year regardless of the record because I think that they are set up long-term. The goal is to win championships not wild cards. If it is a step back to get there, so be it.
  4. I think that the Bills pick pretty early. I’d bet a DL will be at the top of that list. I think that Kyle and Hughes are gone after this year. If Phillips can play or Shaq comes on that could change. I also think that AJ Brown and the kid from UB have potential to be targets in the 1st. The WR position is in desperate need of talent and they may view those guys as #1 WRs. LB is a need and White, Edmunds and Milano would be the fastest LB group ever. There is no doubt in my mind on that. White is faster than Edmunds!! He may run a sub-4.5. I am a huge fan of Devin White and wouldn’t object at all to him being the guy. I just happen to believe that the Bills will have to address a couple areas where they are bad 1st. Beane tried to trade up for Christian Kirk. That tells me that he knows he needs a receiver near the top of the depth chart. They will be adding one next year either early or in FA.
  5. He said in the post that “the Pats get the tiebreaker.”
  6. Only way to make it work is to sign them to multi-year deals with a big portion in the signing bonus. That will be amortized so they can keep the year one cap hits down.
  7. You can’t host a wild card game. There is no such thing. The division winners host playoff games. The only game that you can host as a wild card is if the 5th and 6th place teams play in the AFC Championship.
  8. I’m so confused by everything you say. The Bills decided to pay their placeholder $3M + a 3rd round pick instead of $16M. You understand that right? It was a good decision. No one is arguing that. You need to see the whole picture though not what fits your narrative.
  9. I certainly agree with that!! My thinking is that at this point Bowman doesn’t want more than a year. I could be wrong. Decker I had at 2 to punt the money to next year.
  10. Good topic!! Navarro Bowman - fills out the LB group and allows Edmunds to play the strong side. 1 year - $4M Luke Joeckel - upgrades the OL depth and was once highly regarded. He is a decent reclamation project that can play all over. 2 years - $4M Eric Decker - A fairly productive career and can still contribute on this team. 2 years - $5M There is my 3 based on guys out there now. Obviously it can change if others hit the market. The first move that I’d make though is to trade Shaq Lawson for Corey Coleman. Swap former 1st rounders that are no longer great fits but can help the other team.
  11. I’d imagine it would be like the Broncos after Paxton Lynch. I hope that we never get to that point but he certainly doesn’t come without risk.
  12. White will be special. I was at the Auburn game and he was the best player on the field by miles. He looked like an All-Pro playing against Buff State. He will test off the charts and have a ton of production. With our other needs I’d be surprised if the Bills were a possibility but he will be great.
  13. That we don’t know. He has a high ceiling and a low floor. We all better hope he’s good or we will be looking again in 2020.
  14. Why do you keep bringing up entire seasons?!? Why don’t you just isolate a few specific games/moments that prove your point and ignore the other 98%? Don’t you know how to support your argument?!?
  15. Does anyone really want anyone but Allen to be the guy? If so, @DC Tom has something to say. This isn’t a “let the best man win” scenario. It is a “we can play McCarron until Allen is ready” scenario. There is no other potential outcome. It may be week 1 of 2018, week 1 of 2019 or any time in between. The Bills didn’t trade into the top 7 for a “guy to battle McCarron.” They traded up to hand the guy the keys, we all need to hope he can drive.
  16. That’s fine in theory but not practical. As a hypothetical, what if Allen shows up out of shape, doesn’t work hard and has a bad attitude. Should they never play him? Johnny Manziel was on drugs and they ran him out here. An NFL team has to get their 1st round pick on the field or they go on the hot seat. You can buy a year with a rookie QB but no one else. If the picks don’t work out you go on the hot seat. That’s just the reality. There are 3 potential results: they don’t play (hot seat), they aren’t good (hot seat), or they play well (job security). That’s the nature of the business. These guys are tasked with identifying guys, investing heavily and being right. The whole “earn it” thing makes people feel well but it isn’t realistic.
  17. At the same time do you think that there is a single guy in the locker room that doesn’t know Allen will be out there as soon as he is ready (or maybe before)? The writing is on the wall.
  18. I think that this is correct and sort of a Bills tradition. The rookies aren’t allowed to change in the locker room in the facility until they make the roster. They have to use the locker room in the stadium. I don’t know if that has changed but it was the case anyways. The Bills try to make guys “earn” it regardless of how obvious it is. Anyone can pretend that Allen is 3rd or Edmunds needs to earn it. The reality is that when the lights go on that won’t be the case. FWIW, I actually think that it’s kind of stupid. You don’t need to treat your prized rookie QB like every other guy that hasn’t earned it. Nobody is fooled by it. It would be a much better idea to put him between Kyle and McCarron now. They should have Edmunds next to Zo. These guys will learn a lot more about being pros that way. It isn’t a huge deal but it’s pretty stupid.
  19. I don’t know. They used to do it in the stadium but that was between training camp and the season.
  20. They did one of them as a club seat event last year. My dad watched from the fieldhouse and thought that it was awesome. He keeps asking if they are doing it again but I haven’t seen anything come through.
  21. It’s a fine line too because a year ago at this time people may have said that the Texans was the worst QB situation in the league. Now, they have a potential star playing on a rookie deal. That is a dream situation.
