  1. What a waste of a conditional 7th!! The Jets ripped them off.
  2. This feels like an easy decision for the Bills. They have to make a play for him. If they get it don’t their LBs will be FAST.
  3. Maybe so, at that point though he may be Chase Daniel. He thought that he’d get a chance a few times and never did. He cleaned up financially though. He bounced around signing deal after deal. He has started 2 games in his career and made $25M.
  4. That depends were you a “c” student or an “a” student coming into high school? When “c” students don’t do well it is less surprising than when “a” students don’t do well. The “a” student is more likely to improve the next time out than the “c” student. So while I agree that there is no reason to give up on the guy today I don’t see any reason to believe that he will become something that he has never been. It’s Ockham’s Razor in a lot of ways. We can make a zillion assumptions as to why it went wrong or why it will change. The much more likely answer is, it won’t. His strengths will be his strengths and his weaknesses will be his weaknesses.
  5. That’s what people thought was his strength coming out. It wasn’t the case. @GunnerBill talked extensively about it in his scouting report. Peterman’s accuracy was WAY overstated. He has never been an accurate thrower. His main strengths were his ability to throw in rhythm and his “pro readiness.” Peterman was thought of as a guy that would need less time to adapt. He was advanced mentally. There is a lot of irony to that being his “strength.”
  6. I absolutely wouldn’t disagree because they have a year to stand on. By the same token, I’d give Peterman a much shorter leash than I did a year ago. He was a lock to make the team in 2017. He is fighting for a roster spot in 2018. If he played well in 2017 he’d be a lock in 2018. Peterman’s flaws are beyond that. He isn’t particularly accurate. He is awful under pressure (that’s why they called him “Nervous Nate” in college) and makes poor decisions. You couple poor decisions with a lack of arm strength and you get turnovers.
  7. I have no idea. I’m really surprised that we hadn’t heard this before (at least I hadn’t). In a lot of ways I wish that I hadn’t heard it.
  8. Maybe so but I think that the point is that he was a “good” player in a bad situation. Those guys can fall through the cracks. 1st ballot HOFers are still “good” players at least in a bad situation.
  9. Agree with this, McCarron seems to be a good addition. He’s a smart guy and a capable backup. He has a chance to be the long-term number 2 here.
  10. It depends on how you define potential. I saw a guy completely overwhemed that didn’t look like he belonged. I’m looking at a guy that is a clear number 3 option that will never be more than a number 2 option here. How hard is he to replace? I’d be surprised if he didn’t make it through to the PS. The Jets have held Hackenberg because he was a 2nd round pick. They won’t even dress him. At what point to you say, “the guy isn’t good?” Did the Bills give up on Levi Brown too soon? He was a similar prospect to NP. People have this fear that if they release Peterman he will go somewhere and become a good starter and they’ll regret it. That’s a terrible way to operate. If the guy stinks, he stinks. You don’t need to operate out of fear. If he is better than McCarron (which I highly doubt) then cut McCarron. If McCarron is better, cut Peterman. I don’t see any reason to carry a 3rd QB that will never be more than a backup.
  11. Do you think that the Bills should have given Nic Harris as many chances to succeed as Aaron Maybin? The answer is of course not. The 1st round pick is always going to be given WAY more rope than your 2nd 5th round pick. The Saints cut Garrett Grayson a year after making him a 3rd round pick. The Jets are clinging to Sackenberg even though they won’t even dress him. If a guy can’t play he can’t play. It’s much easier to cut a 5th rounder than it is a 1st. No one called Nic Harris a “bust.” You can’t have 190 guys picked before you and be a “bust.” You have to have expectations to be a “bust.” Peterman isn’t a bust. He’s just bad at football. If Allen fails he’s a bust. There is a giant, giant difference in the expectations.
  12. I guess that the point that I was making was sooner than I thought. It just seems like the Bills want him out there now. Cleveland this year, and KC last year were pretty forthcoming about their plans to give the QB time. The Bills have elected a different route. Either of them can work but it’s different than what I anticipated with Allen.
  13. I’ve been of the belief that Allen needs time. The sense I get however is that the Bills are hoping that he’s ready early. He will be given every opportunity to play from the jump. I voted Allen because that’s what I think will happen. If he isn’t ready as early as they want McCarron will play until he is.
  14. Also, McCarron is more proven. He has had more NFL success.
  15. I’m just not of the belief that NP is a part of the decision. Allen is playing as soon as the Bills think he’s ready. That’s the worst kept secret. McCarron is here to be the placeholder and a backup. He can handle that role.
  16. Let me ask it a different way. Do you honestly believe that Antonio Brown would have been out of the league if the Bills drafted him? If you really believe that I believe that you are delusional. Again, I’m not saying that he would have become the best player in the league. He may have been merely a “good receiver.” He might have had Emmanuel Sanders’ career. There is no chance that a guy with that ability was going to fail.
  17. I definitely trust Daboll more than Dennison. At the same time the guy that threw 5 INts in a half deserves his share of the blame for those 5 INTs. I agree that he shouldn’t have been out there but he is accountable for his performance when he is. And it was an epic failure!! Replacing a decent game manager with a 5th round scrub is a massive mistake. Every objective football guy saw this prior to starting him. Bills fans were the only ones dumb enough to not see it. It was a massive mistake.
  18. He would be the 1st guy to throw 5 INT in his first half of football to go on to have a good career. Come to think of it, he would be the 1st guy to throw 5 INT in his first half of football to go on to have a bad career too.
  19. The best player in the league doesn’t fall out of the league. He may have just been a good receiver but there’s ZERO chance that talent failed. The cream rises.... 1. Guys that play well 2. QBs pass to the best receivers on every single team.
  20. I just don’t get it. How could a reasonable person look at Nate Peterman and think, “this guy has got it?” The rest of the country laughed at us when we started him. It was worse than they expected. Everyone with a brain knew it would fail but Bills fans thought it was a good idea and everyone else was dumb. 99 times out of 100 the objective outsiders are right and the emotionally charged super fans aren’t. Peterman should be fighting for a roster spot not a starting job.
  21. Why do people believe in Peterman? It’s an honest question? He was historically bad and was a 5th round pick for a reason. People hated Fitz, Orton, and Tyrod who were all decent and swear by Peterman. It is so strange. We are the only fan base in the world that prefers scrubs to decent. That is unique to Bills fans.
  22. I don’t know that he would have become the best player in the league but he certainly wouldn’t have been out of the league either.
  23. Didn’t see this posted anywhere: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/05/antonio_brown_revisits_taking_draft_day_call_from_steelers_instead_of_buffalo_bi.html FWIW, I think that he’s the best player in football. He’s better than Danny Batten.
