The strangest thing about this is that people honestly believe that it wasn’t effective or he should have picked a different stage. Kaep used the time when the most eyeballs were on him to bring attention to his cause. Whether you like it or not, it had a massive impact. He has gotten a ton of publicity for his cause and raised a lot of money. He put his cause before his own personal gain. Again, like it or not, Kaep’s protest has had a massive impact.

Wait, you got married?!? How’d I miss that??? It feels like only yesterday you were seeking dating advice here. There’s hope for @John from Riverside after all.

Ranking Drought GMs
Kirby Jackson replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
FWIW, I think that the GMs were better than the coaches. The teams had more talent than their records. -
It will certainly shine a spotlight on the situation. It will be a MASSIVE deal for a little while. Like anything though, it will blow over. People aren’t going to leave forever because teams stopped playing the anthem. They may say that they will but they won’t. There’s a guy in this thread talking about how he boycotted but here he is posting in a football forum. He clearly didn’t walk away like he said he did. The NFL would take their lumps and the move on. It’s ripping the band-aid off. If they do something like honor heroes in place of the anthem it holds especially true IMO. Anyone that walks away because they replaced the anthem with a story about a guy that rescued a pregnant mother from a burning car is an a-hole.

Moving on was the right decision for both sides. Tyrod handled himself with class as always. The Bills handled it the right way by keeping him in the loop.

Yep, we literally just take someone else’s thing and copy it. There was even a time we were sued and couldn’t use Shout. The fact that they are trying to trademark the whole “process” thing is ridiculous. Everyone knows that’s the 76ers thing. For crying out loud Embiid is nicknamed “The Process.” If Allen is good are we just going to call him the same thing? It’s lazy, kind of annoying and not that inspiring. It feels so forced. Real traditions are grown organically. We have mastered that as a fan base. From the tailigating to the “Billsmafia” hashtag we are unique. Other fans are jealous of us because of the way that we go all out for our team. The organization’s creativity and effort hasn’t matched ours. It’s disappointing. I’m not saying that we need the Golden Knights pre-game ceremony but can’t we come up with some traditions that belong to us?? It’s not asking that much. Let’s come up with our own tag lines, traditions and songs (although Shout stays too).

Why don’t they just do away with the National Anthem in sports? We used to do an invocation before the Hornets games (think OKC still does). It was kind of weird too. There was some concern that if we did away with it the religious people would be mad. I think that we took one phone call after that was upset about it. I’d imagine that if teams and leagues did away with the anthem it would have the same impact. Additionally, I have a suggestion to replace it. The Celtics used to do this thing that they called “a hero among us.” They would recognize a member of the community that was doing something extraordinary. There was a small video package and then they’d welcome that person. They’d always get a standing O. It may be someone that dedicated their life to working with special needs kids or someone that ran 500 miles to raise money for ALS or a solidier that saved 11 guys in battle or whatever. The point being what’s the purpose of playing the anthem? Tradition? At least with my suggestion you’d be able to recognize people doing great things and hopefully inspire others to act in a similar manner. There are people on both sides of the anthem issue. If you pull the anthem out you don’t alienate a segment of the fan base.

That’s on the Oasis or the Allure I think. I saw that show on the Allure and it was good. Watching them training during the day (which that looks like) was even cooler.

Canisius in college baseball postseason tournament?
Kirby Jackson replied to BobbyC81's topic in Off the Wall Archives
They did beat NC State this year who was ranked at the time. Canisius has had a pretty good program (lots of Canadians). John Axford pitched there. -
How many did it in their first half ever? Brett Favre started 298 games. It’s reasonable to throw 5 INTs in a game over almost 19 seasons. It’s really not the same as your first 14 pass attempts. Favre attempted 10,169 passes. Those things aren’t really comparable. I’d like to see the stats of guys picked 191 or later that threw 5 INTs in their first 14 attempts that went on to have great careers? That would be an interesting list.

Ha ha, I went to college with Rob Hennigan. I was really cheering for him. It didn’t work. -

So he doesn’t get any credit for being the GM at the time and the one that assembled the draft board?!? Really?!? Who do you think put the scouting reports together? Ultimately McDermott may have decided on the positions but the board was set by the staff. The 40th best player on your roster isn’t starting. 80% of his guys were starting. What @Gugny said above is really interesting. It feels like you are really grasping at straws here. He had the most draft picks starting. If that is poor how would you grade every single other guy that had less people than that? -

If we call 2013 his first draft and 2017 his last (he at least played a major role in those) he selected 15 players in the 1st 3 rounds. 11 or 12 of those guys (depending on Shaq) will be starting in the NFL this year. Starters: Woods, Kiko, Goodwin, Sammy, Preston Brown, Darby, John Miller, Shaq, Ragland, Tre White, Zay Jones and Dion Dawkins. Non-Starters: EJ, Kouandjio, Adolphus Washington I wouldn’t call that poor (at all). In fact, I’d bet that very few teams have 80% of their picks, in rounds 1-3, between 2013-2017, starting in 2018. -

I know that to be the case in terms of collaboration. I’ve heard that from various people that were in football ops at that time. There really isn’t anything (good or bad) that belongs to Nix and not Whaley (if their times overlapped completely). I don’t remember if they did or not. There werent many/any situations where Nix and Whaley didn’t come to a consensus. -

That’s because a lot of the “core” was there. It’s easier to be a GM on a bad team. There is a lot of work to be done. It is much harder to fill in the spots because there is less margin for error. It’s much easier to be the GM of the Phoenix Suns than the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are seeking specific pieces to put them over the top. The Suns are seeking any kind of talent. Also, don’t underestimate Whaley’s involvement in those drafts (both good and bad). Nix and Whaley were very, very, very collaborative. They worked very closely on all of that. -

He inherited a relatively talented roster and turned it into a very talented roster + Rex. He added Shady, Zach Brown, Gillislee, Lorax, Incognito, etc... The Bills hit home runs in the bargain bin in free agency. That first Rex team was one of the most talented rosters of the drought era. -

I don’t feel comfortable doing this because 2 of those guys weren’t doing GM duties. The real list is: Donahoe Modrak Guy Nix Whaley I’d go: Whaley Nix Donahoe Modrak Guy -
I won’t. I’m on record as saying that guys with more talent get more chances. There’s a reason that Jeff Tuel started 1 game and JP Losman started 33. Neither was very good but you are going to give a longer leash to a guy with ability. Someone referenced Troy Aikman above. He was the 1st overall pick!! Josh Allen will be given a lot more chances than Nathan Peterman will be. That’s the difference between the 7th pick and the 191st pick.

That is just her assumption. She doesn’t know that’s where that recipe she loves came from. -

Lindsey never believed that you guys existed until she met y’all. She was like “don’t you think it’s weird that you always talk about the Bills with a bunch of strangers on the Internet?” If you put it like that I guess it kind of is.
