  1. That’s what it sounds like (and Edwards is my least favorite Bill ever). With that being said McCarron has been a winner throughout his life. I’d like to think that he has a tough competitive spirit. I’m not sure that he’s too physically gifted but he will make good decisions. He did, and still does, feel like a good backup to me. He’s the kind of guy that can play for a few weeks and not hurt you. He isn’t going to elevate anyone though. The Joe B post earlier said that Allen has been the best of the 3 so far. It’s up in the thread earlier.
  2. So, you don’t think that the players should make half of the money generated by the league? They aren’t just employees; they are the assets. If you were to compare them to your job the players are closer to the cars than they are the employees. They ARE what people pay for. The league generates billions of dollars selling the talents of the players. It’s the same reason that the movie industry hires A list actors. Better talent drives better revenues and they are paid commensurate with that. There IS no cash for the owners without the players. If you replaced the top talent in the world with replacement players you’d have the XFL. If you think that the owners would make 1/2 as much money with that kind of talent then it would be a could deal for them. Of course that notion is absurd. The revenue comes from the players. The whole idea that they are “overpaid” is asinine. The league generated $8B in TV revenue last year!! That’s $255M per team JUST from the TV deal!! If you think that the $177M salary cap is too much we disagree. There are a ton of other revenue streams as well. The players salaries are not out of line at all.
  3. No problem, it was a terrible fit. Everyone could see that immediately. It’s a coaches job to put players in position to do what they best not to make players run their scheme. That’s the same problem that Rex had. Fortunately, Daboll and McDermott are confident enough to base their system on their talent.
  4. Joe B on the QBs so far: https://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-observations-from-2018-buffalo-bills-training-camp-day-3
  5. We weren’t talking straight WC. We were talking RPOs, moving pockets, wheel routes, etc... Tyrod is way better fit in Daboll’s offense than Dennison’s.
  6. One last question, if you were to fast forward 5 years and I was to tell you that one of these 3 guys became a “franchise QB” how would you rank them?
  7. All of the transactions sort of run together ?
  8. So basically do what the Bills did with the first two years of Tyrod?
  9. It appears that she works at Soho. From what I remember those girls were hooks on the side...
  10. So if the mid top 10 pick is a complete and utter failure I suppose it is possible. With that being said, Allen will be given the chance to fail and if he does they will swing again (as Denver did with Keenum).
  11. Yeah and RG played for a few years before Cousins took over. They weren’t throwing t-shirts into the crowd today with “Peterman 2” on the back. If you think that this is a “competition” I have some volcano insurance you might be interested in. The second that the Bills think Allen is ready, he plays. It may not be for a little while but they didn’t trade up to 7 to find Nate Peterman’s backup.
  12. The irony is this is the EXACT type of offense that they should have been running for the last 3 years. They had the personnel to do it. I’m glad to see it.
  13. Is the average career at your job more than 3.3 years? If it isnt, you are comparing apples and oranges. I’m going to try not to go on a rant here but every time this topic comes up I get frustrated. These guys generate billions and billions of dollars. In every industry the revenue generators make money. I’m in commercial insurance and get paid more than my support staff. That’s the way that the real world works. The average NFL career is 3.3 years and they have minimal guarantees. If you get hurt and are a fringe guy you aren’t going to be in the league. This whole notion of “they don’t deserve it because they are millionaires” is nonsense. If your company generated billions of dollars a year the top people would be paid accordingly.
  14. I actually think that Kerley is more likely to make it than Zay at this point. I think that they both make it but if I were to rank the likliehood to make the team it would look something like this: Benajmin - 98% chance (freak injury or off the field incident it the only way he doesn’t). Kerley - 90% Zay - 80% Holmes - 65% Dupre - 65% Reilly - 60% Streater - 60% McCloud - 60% Foster - 50% Proehl - 30% (likely PS) Clay - 30% (needs to win return duties) Anyone else - 10%
  15. He’s run with the 1’s since he has gotten to Buffalo and supposedly played well to this point.
  16. I guess that my entire point with Allen is that what the other guy’s do is irrelevant. If Allen is way better than them throughout camp but still doesn’t look ready, sit him. If he is the worst of the 3 but looks ready, play him. When he is ready, he plays. It may not be this year. That’s fine. It may be week 1, that’s fine too. There is no set plan that you have to follow. It is whatever works best for a team and player.
  17. Ha ha, you are good. We have a full army of people with nothing better to do than keep up with the back and forth. We will keep you in the loop.
  18. That’s the part that you need to be careful about. If everyone comes with some sort of minimum though I don’t think it pushes the “John Hughes’ of the world” out of the league. He may come with a little higher guarantee than a rookie but both may have the same cap hit if creative enough.
  19. She called him out for it. She revealed the girl. He apologized. I’ve been following on social media and it isn’t some mystery. Neither of them is hiding or denying it. Now if your point is, “we don’t know the whole story” I would agree. If your point is “do we know if he cheated?” You are just burying your head in the sand because you don’t want the truth to be true.
  20. There is going to be some balance moving forward. A minimum portion of all contracts will be guaranteed. I don’t think that the NFL will ever get close to other sports but it will change. Maybe something like the minimum contract for a player of a certain tenure is guaranteed? The guys that get more wont have to worry but it is almost like a minimum wage effect. If you sign a guy to a 1 year vet minimum, he gets that regardless of whether or not you keep him. It’s for guys like Keenan Robinson and John Hughes. Just a thought... That’s a fair solution as well.
  21. Trust the process It doesn’t take much reading between the lines to know that he cheated. He’s tried to apologize but so far it isn’t happening.
  22. Prediction for first fight? I’ll go Wyatt Teller & Rickey Hatley. That didn’t take long.
  23. In general, I agree with your thoughts. This certainly isn’t the ideal situation for a young QB. They all develop at a different rate. I was under the impression that Allen would need a redshirt year. I’m not sure that my opinion has changed but I get the sense that the Bills feel differently. They have their plan and as soon as he is ready (whenever it is), he plays. With that being said, I don’t think that there is some magic formula to when a QB should play. We’ve seen young QBs that started from the beginning flourish and we’ve seen guys that sat have success. It is 100% dependent on the player and situation.
  24. I said it earlier in the thread but this “QB competition” is totally irrelevant. IF anyone but Allen starts at the beginning of the year they are a mere placeholder. It may week 1, it may be a month, it may be more but this isn’t a “competition.” It is a matter of “when is Allen ready to play?” This isn’t a battle to determine the QB of the future; that has already been decided.
