Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman

Love this!! He’s been on our radar forever. He’s speed and talent just not a ton of production yet. On this team he’s an upgrade -
COMEBACKSZN Manziel is back!

I love JFF. Last night was tough. He looked like a rich man’s Peterman. There were mistakes everywhere. It was sad. -
Oh great, just what we need another undersized corner. I can’t see this kid playing ahead of Taron Johnson or even Phillip Gaines.

Can we afford to carry 3 active QB’s all season?

That is just active roster. He is Ps eligible too. -

Let me ask it another way. Is it more likely that Peterman is cut or starting? -
We more or less agree with one difference. I believe as soon as they think Allen is ready he will play. It isn’t about showcasing him as much as his development. The KC situation is just an example of how teams handle top 10 picks. KC was ready to move on from a guy playing really good football in hopes of getting great play. That’s the same thing that the Bills are trying to do with Allen. The difference is that McCarron/Peterman will NEVER play at the level Alex Smith was. If they were ready to move on I can’t imagine that the Bills would hesitate to move on from worse QB play.

I think that’s fair. I think that the Bills likely keep 3 this year. Some will depend on the separation at places like WR though. Say Phillips and Foster are battling for the last spot do they offer more value than Nate? That’s the kind of decision that they will have to make. -

Less than half of the NFL teams carried more than 2 QBs last year. -
This is the kind of thing that separates good ownership from bad. The Pegulas did something similar with the Sabres locker room a few years back. The Bills facility has always been near the top of the league. These upgrades are another example of the Pegulas legitimately caring about their players. This $18M upgrade isn’t a revenue generator for them. It is a recruiting tool and an effort to keep players safer. This is just the kind of thing that good people do. Kudos to Kim and Terry for this!!

I’ll point to KC last year. Alex Smith was a legit MVP candidate. He is not there. Neither Peterman nor McCarron is in that league. Teams are looking for their guy to play. The Bills aren’t evaluating 3 guys. They are preparing Allen. This is way different than the last time 3 QBs we’re battling for the Bills job. They have already decided on the guy. Allen’s timeline isn’t impacted by the placeholders in front of him. He is the guy as soon as he is ready. The Bills intentionally left the path clear. They didn’t get a temporary guy until everyone else did. They don’t want any sort of controversy. They wanted to bring him along without roadblocks.

I’ve been saying that they may only keep 2 QBs for 6 months. It doesn’t look so crazy now. McCarron & Allen with Peterman on the practice squad. I’d only keep 2 but I suspect that they will keep 3. -
You don’t think that the Bills want Allen to get more reps vs. better competition? At some point soon they are going to slide him up the depth chart. Maybe it won’t be after preseason game 1 (I suppose it could be game 2) but it won’t be more than that. The Bills want him out there for the experience.

I get some of it and it’s tough. I take Zoloft daily, Pamalor at night and Klonopin as necessary. It seems to work. I too recommend a dog. My dog is my best friend.

I’m a fan of the Daboll hire because I think he will work to his talent. My concern is that the OL and pass catchers aren’t talented. They handed him spam and asked him to win a James Beard award. If the Bills are patient with him he is going to be an asset (until he gets a HC job). I think that Frazier is a really good coach as well. It looked like he had a shot at that Colts job. If the defense has another good year he may be interviewing again next year. I’d love to keep that group (with some position coach upgrades) in tact.

You only post about Tyrod anyways. It’s really kind of weird. You got called out for it 3 or 4 times this week!! This thread was on the design of Daboll’s offense and you started talking about what a relief it was that Nate was a passing QB. Not sure what that has to do with the design of the offense? Also not sure that a guy that was 24 of 49 for 252, 2 TDs and 5 INTs qualifies as a “passing QB.”

I’ve never seen anyone use that argument here. Maybe I’m not paying attention? The league spoke pretty loudly on their opinion of McCarron this offseason. He got half of what guys like Bridgewater and McCown did. He can be a decent placeholder. I don’t believe that Peterman can. He isn’t an NFL QB. He has horrendous pocket presence and terrible decision making. When pressure comes he is at his worst. That’s why he always does well on shorts and a t shirt but not when the bullets fly. It has been that way since his time at Pitt. They called him “Nervous Nate.” Allen needs to be viewed independently of the other 2. He’s on his own schedule. When he starts is dependent on Allen, not the other 2. He’s going to get the job at some point. We just need to hope that when he does he is the guy that we all hope he is. If not, we will be looking again in 2020.

Thinking a guy is bad and hating him are different. I think Peterman is a bad QB. AJ couldn’t beat out Dalton. The offense actually declined quite a bit when AJ took over for Dalton. AJ is a decent game manager that isn’t going to make a lot of mistakes or plays. He’s like having Brian Hoyer or someone of that quality. If they have to play for a month they won’t kill you.
