Raiders are open to trading Davante Adams
Kirby Jackson replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn’t give up the 1st but would give up 1 of the 2’s. If Metcalf were available I’d give a 1 because of the age. -

He may cause problems. That’s absolutely true. He may come to Buffalo and be a dominant, all-pro. That’s also true. Is the juice worth the squeeze? For me, it’s a no brainer. The Bills WRs are bad and Adams has been one of the best WRs in football for a decade. He’s not perfect (attitude concerns, contract concerns, age concerns). At the same time, he gets off the plane and is the Bills biggest threat in the passing game by 5000 miles. I prefer other options, but the fear of him being difficult is a minor concern, not a major one. The Bills are bad at that position and he has been elite at that position. -

I think that holds true to a degree. When your QB is your best player and biggest star, you can check that ego. Brady and Moss, electric. Allen and Diggs, great. Mahomes and Tyreek, fantastic. Rodgers and Adams, amazing. The Bills are one of the few teams that can check that ego. If he goes to Pittsburgh, for example, it could be ugly (although Tomlin masterfully navigated that lunatic Antonio Brown). -

That doesn’t answer the question. If they could make the money work, would you rather they employ Mack Hollins or Davante Adams? Door number 3 wasn’t a part of the question. Fair enough and we slightly disagree as to whether or not they are contenders. Before the year, I thought somewhere between 9-7 and 12-5 and a likely division title. I lean towards the higher end now. What I didn’t expect to happen was for so many “good teams” to be as flawed as they are. The top teams in 2024, at this point, are not at the level of the top teams of the last bunch of years. I think that the Bills have an opportunity because no one is dominant. -

I don’t think that this is the move for them either. I am challenging the notion that they’d be better off without him because of his personality. That’s nonsense. They absolutely need an injection of talent and he’s elite talent. They should be on the phone seeing what this, or other moves, might look like. Despite what we were led to believe on this message board, they did not “quietly get better.” -

For this question, let’s assume that they can work the money out. If the Raiders eat salary it’s doable. I just don’t want the excuse to be “we can’t afford him.” Let’s assume that they can make it work. Would you rather have Adams or Hollins on this team? -

He asked for a trade. There are certainly other teams in play. Don’t get hung up on the “asking price” though. He may go for less than that. I think they get a 2nd to eat salary and a 3rd if not. They might require a 1st from KC. Washington makes sense. The Jets make sense. The Chiefs make sense. The Ravens make sense. The Bills make sense. There are others too but I don’t think any of them make a ton of sense. -

You can ask for whatever you want but that doesn’t mean they’ll get it. That feels like the price. -

Field Yates tweeted that the Raiders can eat a portion of the salary like the Leonard Williams deal. If that’s the case, the Bills obviously pay a premium. A 2nd probably gets it done. -
Fair on safety. I actually agree but it is less impactful so I’m a little dismissive of that. I’d like to see Bishop and Edwards before needing change. For me, Johnson basically would replace the Hollins snaps. He’s a guy that can get open and handle some volume. He can run the route tree. His hands are questionable but he’s an upgrade and will be cheap to acquire.

The answer is (shockingly) WR. That’s the weakest position group on the team and there are viable options, potentially, on the market. They still need a boundary WR that wins consistently at the top of their depth chart. They can plug that hole, even if temporarily, with Adams or Cooper. If they just add a guy, like Dionte Johnson for example, it still vastly improves the WR room. I think Kicker is the position that “scares me” the most. I’ve been a supporter of Bass from day 1. He’s just lost his confidence or something. It just seems too difficult to upgrade kicker in season. Who gets rid of good kickers? They can maybe try to get McManus but otherwise that’s a position to target in the draft.

I think that the present is fine for the Bills. They’re flawed (no wrs, bad kicking game, key injuries, coaching lapses) but everyone is flawed. As long as they have 17, they can win as soon as this year. In terms of the future, one of the most underrated positives, is that the division is about to fall off a cliff. The Jets are all in on a 1 or 2 year timeline. They don’t look good enough now. Miami is all in as well and it hasn’t worked. They paid $55M a year to an average QB. New England is miles away but did take Maye early. If Maye is the guy, they’re probably the competition for the 2nd half of this decade. If he can’t play, they stink forever.

I'd love for us to trade for Amari Cooper
Kirby Jackson replied to Trust The Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that Cooper can be had for maybe like a 4th or 5th. The price may drop closer to the deadline. I see no reason to not pull the trigger now. He would get off the plane as the best player at their weakest position. Cooper would instantly upgrade this offense. If it’s too expensive to bring him back, let him walk and draft a WR in the 1st. Between Cooper and Adams, I expect at least one of them to end up on KC. They need a top receiver with Rice and Hollywood out. -

So you think that they just need a guy to get down the field? Basically a replacement for MVS? From what I’ve seen he’s been open down the field. -

Are you suggesting that the Jets would trade, a productive, 24 year-old, top 10 pick? Are they doing this to appease their 40 something QB? Of course not -

He’s coming off of a 1,250 yard season. He’s had 1,100+ yards in 4 of the last 5 seasons. What are you talking about, “work it takes to be good?” -
So far WR group looks like a dumpster fire
Kirby Jackson replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is where it has to go. Teams are going to take from the Ravens. They are going to send guys and challenge the Bills WRs to win. They aren’t going to sit in two-high and allow time for someone to shake free. They are going to come after the Bills and bet that their coverage can hold up long enough without having extra bodies deployed to help. Those bodies will be near the LOS and blitzing. The Bills will have to adapt and evolve. Right now, I don’t believe that the talent is there for the Bills to make that work. Hopefully there are some scheme adjustments (like @Simon’s suggestion) that neutralize this. -

The tricky part is that he has ALWAYS been more of a “gadget guy” than a boundary receiver. He was a RB at Ohio State. He is like Deebo. The Bills have no idea how to use him. He should be used in a variety of ways. He should get 3 or 4 carries a game. He should catch 1 or 2 screens and 1 or 2 slants. Get the ball in his hands 8 times a game. -

It’s been here for months. The other one is like 200 pages. It’s less about “these guys suck” and more about “are these guys good enough?” Those of us that have been skeptical, aren’t riding the roller coaster each week. We we are looking at the body of work. Shakir is Beasley that can run after the catch. Coleman has good body control and is covered like a blanket every play. They have no idea what to do with Samuel. MVS and Hollins are scrubs. -
9/29/2024 Bills at Ravens 2nd half game thread
Kirby Jackson replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
A humbling night all around. The coaching staff has been awesome. They were atrocious tonight. The OL had a rough night. The pass catchers are bad. They’re going to have to make a move. Bass probably needs to be replaced. The LBs had a bad night. Even still, if you told me that the Bills would be 3-1 through 4 games, I would have signed up for that. Need to win 1 of the next 2. -

That's on Brady. You had the momentum and a team that has let teams back into games. Instead, you ended that and the game. If the Bills just played offense we would be looking at a 1 possession game. -
