Alabama would beat the Buffalo Bills, 'analysts' say
Kirby Jackson replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Miami team in my example had 39 players drafted and about a dozen of them were high end players (at least for a period). Andre Johnson, Clinton Portis, Ed Reed, Vince Wilfork, Willis McGahee, Bryant McKinnie, etc... This Bills team wouldn’t have beaten them 90-3 in their respective primes. Specific to this Alabama team they will certainly have 2 (Williams, Pierschbacher), maybe 3 (Cotton) OL starting next year in the NFL. How many guys on this Bills OL will be starting in the NFL next year? 1? Maybe 2? No one thinks that Alabama has a chance but at the same age I think that they would. They have the QB, the running game, the OL and the playmakers on both sides of the ball. They can’t compete with an NFL team at this stage but their talent is ridiculous. -

He was a backup there too. He wasn’t a high end player. He was a redshirt senior that caught 14 balls last year. He will catch more than that this year on the Bills. IMO, he’s not a good example to support that point. -
Would you draft Oliver or Bosa?

He’s pretty obnoxious about it. He’s a MAGA guy. -

I know and 30 is conservative. 39 guys were drafted from the 2001 Miami team. That might be more drafted players than the Bills have. The last 20 or so guys are interchangeable. Is Robert Foster more of an NFL player than Jeremy Kerley? Peterman than Matt Moore? Andre Holmes than Brandon Reilly? You get the point. The line of “NFL player” vs. “non-NFL player” is often dependent on contract or preference. The bottom of the roster isn’t necessarily better or more deserving than some guys not on a roster. -

We aren’t talking each year. I am saying 30 guys on Alabama’s roster will be on an NFL roster. Some guys (like Tua) can’t even enter the draft. I’d add Clinton-Dix and Ingram to the list. Ruben Foster too if he can stay out of trouble. -

He loves Trump so half of the board will love him and half hate him. -

You find ANY place where I say that guys at 19 are the same as 25. I’ve REPEATEDLY said that a college team couldn’t beat an NFL team. It would be 2 scores or more. You clearly haven’t been paying attention. The point was that when this Alabama roster gets to 25 (like that 2001 Miami team) there will be stars. That 2001 Miami team couldn’t have beaten an NFL team. If you took every guy on that roster though, in their prime, it could have been a really good team (even with Dorsey). No one is talking about 19 and 20 year olds beating men. -

That’s my general philosophy. LT is the only exception to the rule and I think we already have one of those. I’d never use a top 10 pick on a different OL than LT and even then I’d hesitate. I want guys that can impact the game on their own. Pass rushers, QBs, CB and pass catchers. Those guys can either score or negate the passing game. Everyone else is along for the ride. We do need 3 or 4 new starting OL but you don’t need to take those guys at 1. I’d take 3 of them between rounds 2-5 and you’d probably have 3 starters. -
Dolphins sign Nick O’Leary to practice squad

That has to be depressing to have an NFL resume and then go to a practice squad. -

People think that less than a dozen guys at Alabama will be in the NFL. I’d bet every dime that I own on the over. The Bills win EASILY though. The high end talent though (long-term) is better at ‘Bama. That’s kind of the point. There are future stars there. We may have a few in Allen, Edmunds and certainly White. The point that I think Gunner and I are trying to make is that there are 30+ guys on that roster that will be in the NFL. There is probably not many more guys on this current Bills roster that belong in the NFL. Is Connor McDermott an NFL talent? Ike Boettger? Deon Lacey? Ryan Lewis? The last 20 or so guys on the Bills roster are not necessarily better than 20 guys just out of the league. They just happen to have a relationship, a good attitude or something along those lines. -

I’m 99% sure that people think there are like 12 guys enrolled at Alabama that will be on NFL roster. -

Can I book this bet for you? You take 12 guys on Alabama’s roster to be in the NFL and I’ll take the over. You name the stakes. I’ll even give you 2:1 That’s why I used the 2001 Miami team as the example. They are historically great but this ‘Bama team may be too. They had 39 guys drafted!! They probably had a dozen or so in the Pro Bowl and a few in the HOF. That’s way ahead of where our roster is. -

They had 12 drafted last year and another 6 (like Foster as UDFA). I think that people are underestimating how many pros come from the truly great college programs. I pulled up the 2001 Hurricanes (who I think is a top 3 all-time team). I think that this Alabama team could be in that conversation. That 2001 Miami team had 39 guys DRAFTED and something like a dozen that played in at least one Pro Bowl. 2001 Miami My point is and has been that any NFL team will beat a great college team because the players are more developed. That does not mean that the NFL team has more talented players. -

That’s why I have the Bills beating them. If you could have every guy on both rosters at age 25 it may be different. That was what I was getting at. The Bills guys and any NFL guys are further along physically than 95% of college players. There are rare exceptions (like Leonard Fournette was). -
Will the UB Bulls have a better record than the Bills?
Kirby Jackson replied to damj's topic in College Football
This won’t even be close. The bet of the year was UB over 6 wins. The second bet of the year was Bills under 6.5 wins. There is little to no chance that the Bills get to 6. -

One of those undrafted players was a backup WR at Alabama that is currently playing here. The younger players are just that, younger. If you want to look to NFL correlation you need to follow high school rankings not snap counts. You have 5 star freshman at these schools that don’t play a lot (often to protect eligibility). You may have a 3 star senior ahead of him on the depth chart. The 5 star freshman is much more likely to be the NFL player. If there were 12 DRAFTED last year there is no doubt in my mind that there will be 30 NFL players on the current ‘Bama roster. Additionally, they have WAY more future pro bowlers than the Bills as of today. -

That’s the reason that I have the Bills by 2 scores. They aren’t necessarily more talented but are certainly more developed. -

That’s 18 in 1 year!! You need to be 3 years removed from HS to be draft eligible. As an example their QB will be a 1st round pick. He can’t come out until after next year. This ‘Bama team has more talent than any in recent memory too. 30 may be low. -

FWIW, if you told me 5 years from today you could have every player currently on the Bills or every player currently on Alabama, I am taking ‘Bama. -

This is the part we disagree with. Pretty much all Alabama players are this. That’s why they are there. The roster is littered with 4 and 5 star players. Only the best players in the country go there. They don’t have to go through a draft. They pick the best guys and then chase them. Many of them are young so that’s the big difference. There are 30 plus guys on Alabama that belong in the NFL. That MAY be more than the Bills roster. There are certainly more future pro-bowlers on Alabama than the Bills and they have the edge at QB (although both may be good pros). With that being said the Bills still won by 2 scores.
