It’s crazy but I think that it’s likely he misses on all 3. Maybe he can get Boogie, Kemba or Klay? It is either that or he is going to force the Lakers to start trading these young guys in a desperation move. Maybe Lonzo, Ingram and a 1st for Lillard? Maybe they try for Beal or (gasp) Wall?

Agreed, I think that will be their plan. They need to wait until Kyrie’s contract comes up though which is why it won’t be until the summer.

Just out of curiosity which NCAA games did you see? I think that we are all in agreement on 99% of the teams. The conversation isn’t about “a college team” (and never was). It was about Alabama and a 28.5 spread (not straight up). Clemson has to be a part of that conversation as well. If you are talking about solid programs like Louisville or Wake Forest (perenial Bowl teams) Clemson beat them by 60 and 61. If we are talking about an undefeated ND Clemson beat them by 4 scores. We need to stop inserting “could generic college team beat and NFL team” and focus on what the question was (and is) “could Clemson or Alabama cover 28.5 points vs. a bad NFL team?” It’s a totally different question. We can’t use college teams interchangeably. There is a MASSIVE gap between solid programs and Clemson and ‘Bama. Those teams are ONLY recruiting future NFL players. It’s like that run Kentucky had 7 or 8 years ago. They were bringing in 5 of the top 7 players in the country. Without bothering to do the research I would bet that there are more 1st round picks playing at Alabama and Clemson than any NFL team has. Again, there is a giant mental gap but not a talent gap.

This is pretty much where I am. As someone that pays close attention to recruiting we often miss the boat. As an example the backup LT at Clemson was the number 2 OT recruited last year and a top 20 overall player. He may not be playing yet but he’s 8,000,999 times better than the guy starting at a good program like a Northwestern. The talent isn’t spread out anymore. There are a few national recruiting bases that are ONLY bringing in NFL players. I believed that an elite college team could cover 28.5 against a bad NFL team. I find it ironic that the Bills improved dramatically when they inserted two, undrafted rookies into their starting lineup. Those guys were JAGs at Alabama. I don’t know why people can’t see that they are largely the same guys that they were a year ago. This massive talent gap that people believe exists doesn’t. Before someone talks about the lines, Alabama’s OL is actually bigger than the Bills. The biggest advantage is the mental side. The NFL teams could confuse and disguise against the young QBs. It’s not the weird physical mismatch that some imagine. Look no further than Wallace and Foster. Clemson is in a similar place and was a DOMINANT team once they handed Lawrence the keys. This is where the discrepancy is. There are roughly 50 guys from those rosters last week that will be in the NFL and 10+ that will be first round picks. This isn’t a handful situation. This was Northwestern and Pitt.

Also, anyone that doesn’t order spicy at Popeyes is a terrorist.

I tried to use the most realistic option and set it to difficult. It isn’t perfect but probably as good as you’ll get.

Agreed, I think he’s going to be a star in the NFL

Agreed, but it’s not like it didn’t work out for the Bills either. Some trades can be mutually beneficial. I am of the opinion that Allen is going to be special. He may not be Mahomes special, but will be a top 10 QB. If you add that to a couple of pro bowl caliber defenders (White already is and Edmunds will be) you did well.

That’s a good hire for Miami. I was hoping for worse. -
Ideally it’s both. If you have to pick it’s speed. Look how different the offense was when they inserted speed. Allen is going to have to throw the ball down the field to open everything else up. Once they started doing that they were inifinitely more productive. He’s never going to be a 70% completion guy and that’s fine. Make big plays and keep the field spread.
-
This is HUGE. I had a feeling he would come back. If the young OL develops the offense could be elite again. The defense should absolutely take steps forward. Washington is a big get for the Bucks. If he can develop Gant and Mitchell they will be improved there. I’m pumped for Harrison too (Zach that is). I honestly believe this team has a chance to play for the title next year and it makes me happy. If so, you’ve got a place to stay (you too @Willyville Guy).

That doesn’t even account for the redshirts or young guys playing behind someone like Mitch Hyatt. That’s the perfect example. Jackson Carmen is a freshman backup LT. He is 6’6” 350 lbs. He was a 5 star, the #1 or #2 OT coming out last year and the number 17 ranked player nationally. He will be a star and get drafted early. He wasn’t on the field yesterday. That’s just a microcosm for what’s happening now. These teams have SO many NFL players. It isn’t evenly distributed like it was 5-10 years ago. That was one of the worst calls ever!! Chuck Pagano was smiling somewhere. The holder took off with the kicker as the lead blocker!!

I just think that people that don’t watch a lot of college football don’t realize how good the top few teams are now. They are closer to pro teams than at any time in history. The coaching is elite. They get the top players from all over the country (which wasn’t the case 5 or 10 years ago). Recruiting was regional with a couple of exceptions. Alabama would have never had a QB from Hawaii, a LT and RB from California, etc... Recruiting has changed. The top teams no longer have 4 or 5 pros as people like to argue. They have 10+ guys that will be first rounders and 30 pros. So while you can say, “an NFL team has 53” they certainly don’t have the top end talent. That gets redistributed at the next level. That doesn’t happen in college it gets hoarded. Robert Foster would have been the 4th or 5th passing option at Alabama if he had another year. 8 months later he was our first option. If anything, the lesson should be to focus your attention on big time recruits. Much like the way that technology and information have lowered the percentage of draft busts, the same has happened in recruiting. These recruiting services are much closer to right than ever. The top guys go to the top schools. Their production may be spread out because of all of the other top guys there. To stick with the Foster example, he was a 5 star recruit but a backup at Bama. He wasn’t a backup because he was bad, there was just other elite talent. You may find more productive guys that played at Arizona but that’s a function of opportunity and not talent. If you follow recruiting you’ll see the massive gap between the top programs and everyone else. Yeah, I pounded Georgia. I had them -13, -12, -6 and -6.5. I had them straight, in parlays and teasers. I had like 6 different open bets all tied to UGA (which is really dumb by the way) and lost them all. I should have hedges with a UT ML bet.

Alright everyone, I’m going to bed. Can’t wait for Trevor Lawrence vs. Justin Fields for the National Championship In New Orleans next year!!
