  1. I’m not saying “don’t” have it. I am saying that the best part of Allen’s game is his big play ability. We should do everything possible to surround him with people to help in that. That, to me, is OL help and speed. Play to your strengths and be elite at something not okay at a bunch of things. Also, to me it is more about the player. James is a guy imo. We need people like that but he’s not moving the needle. That makes me totally indifferent on him. If the price is right, sure. If not, find someone else.
  2. I don’t see how (or why) they’d move to a more ball controlled offense? That’s not who Allen is. That’s Alex Smith. Allen is a guy that makes big plays and throws with a lot of air yards. I don’t see the Bills throwing a lot of curls. They try to pick up chunks at a time. I haven’t read anywhere that they plan to change that and would be surprised to see if I did.
  3. I guess that we will agree to disagree. I know Clay wasn’t very good last year but his production fell off a cliff. I don’t think a TE is that important with Allen. I’d still like one but would rather spend the same money on John Brown if you had to pick one or the other.
  4. I didn’t realize that. That changes everything. He’s a top 5 guy now (just behind Lee Smith).
  5. I think that his production is kind of who he is. He’s a guy that can catch 40 or so balls for 500 yards and 4 TDs. He saw more targets before McDonald got there but largely had similar production. If anything he may be improving and it helps him to have someone else. James is a solid TE and would instantly be the best on the Bills roster. That’s more a function of the Bills roster though than of James. FWIW, I’m not sure that a TE is ever going to be a huge weapon for Josh Allen. TEs, imo, are most effective in ball control offenses. The Bills offense isn’t that. It’s a big play offense. Allen is never going to be a 70% completion guy. He has too many air yards for that. I would much, much, much, much, much rather add speed receivers than a large TE. Ideally, though you can add both.
  6. That’s fair but James has started 36 games (7 last year) and the production isn’t much different. If anything it helps him having McDonald. It cuts back his targets some but also gives him an easier matchup. It comes out in the wash. He was the same player when he started 27 of 32 games the previous 2 years. Again, I’m all for adding the guy. He makes the position group better than it is now. He does not however make it a “good” group or solve the problem. They need to get a number 1 TE to do that. I’d rather take a shot on Cook who has put up good seasons before. He’s older but is a better player.
  7. He’s 36th in receptions per game and 26th in yards per game amongst TEs. This is in a pass happy offense with a HOF QB. He’s tied with 13 other TEs for 31st in TDs (2). That’s not a decent starter IMO. With that being said, he’d be a good add on a team that needs guys at the position. He is an upgrade over Croom or O’Leary or Thomas or Khari Lee. That’s where he slots in though. He isn’t a good starter. He’s a good 2nd option.
  8. I didn’t call him a poor man’s Chandler. I said that he’s the same player (ie a decent #2TE).
  9. He would be a solid addition. He just isn’t “solving the problem” at the position. He’s a good number 2 TE. That’s what he was there. That is currently an open slot on the Bills roster (as is TE1). He IS what Scott Chandler was in Buffalo. Those are realistic expectations. We just need to temper our expectations that he’s going to sign and be Travis Kelce.
  10. I agree here too. He was special in college.
  11. There is no disagreement. We are saying the same thing. The point was, “if you are expecting this guy to sign with the Bills and explode prepare to be disappointed. He is Scott Chandler in his prime. A solid TE and the ideal 2nd guy there.”
  12. 100% agree...he is closer to “body” than “talent” is my point. James would be a fine TE 2.
  13. James is fine but he’s just a guy. Anyone that thinks this will be different from the other “guys” that we have had filling the position is mistaken. It’s a decent addition because we need 2 TEs. Adding James makes the Bills a little less desperate but TE is still a need.
  14. Depends on how things are going between he and Kelly Pegula.
  15. I agree on Ferguson. I think that it’s possible that the off the field incident pushes him down. I don’t think that the 2nd is crazy though. He’s going to be a great pro IMO. I pounded the table for Darius Leonard last year as the small school guy that would make an impact. I feel similarly about Ferguson. Dillard is a tough one for me. It’s tough to evaluate guys in that system imo. He is a good pass blocker and MAY be the best LT in this class for that reason. I think that there are some better OL though. If Dillard is added I would kick Dawkins inside to guard (where I think he could be really good). I don’t think that mid-2nd is far off from where he goes. I think it’s somewhere between about 20-55. Also, agree on Dawkins and Milano. Milano was FANTASTIC last year. He has a nose for the football.
  16. I don’t see the Bills using that many picks. If they trade back, I’d expect trade ups later. I used the draft value chart to keep it realistic and Easterling’s mock to get guys that he has available at those spots. Here are a couple of modifications that I’d like: 14 - D.K. Metcalf 40 - Garrett Bradbury 45 - Andre Dillard 59 (trade 74, 105, 167) - Jaylon Ferguson 96 (trade 110, 124) - Elijah Holyfield IMO, this would be a ridiculous draft.
  17. That equation didn’t but Minnesota had PSL’s on a portion of the stadium that were as low as $500. Most stadiums don’t have PSLs everywhere (Vikings is 75% of the stadium). They are in the most desirable areas normally. I would think that the Bills’ PSL’s will look like the Vikings ($500 to $9500) per seat with a goal of $100M.
  18. It’s a pretty simple math equation. From what I found the average ticket price at New Era Field is $69.53 (2nd lowest in the league). The capacity is 71,608. That equates to $4,978,904.24 a game and $49,789,042.40 per year. If you dropped the capacity to 66,000 and had the average at $100 (a tick below league average) you are looking at $6,600,000 per game and $66,000,000 per year. If you kept the capacity the exact same you are looking at $71,608,000 per year. You are creating an extra $20M a year ($2m a game) by just bringing the stadium to the league average. That is an average price of $1,000 per season ticket ($83.33 per month). If that is going to really hurt someone they probably shouldn’t be spending their money on season tickets to begin with.
  19. Yeah, they took players that weren’t good enough from those schools. Someone suggested that they may recruit the top guys like Don Yee’s league is trying to. It just isn’t going to happen. This league is another low end attempt to tap into football’s popularity. They try it every few years and it fails always. They are looking for a cash call a week in. Why should we believe that this league will be any different?
  20. I don’t remember if GB played elsewhere. The Vikings moved to the University of Minnesota while their stadium was being built. It is idealistic to believe that the stadium can be completely redone in 8 months with 3 of those months being January, February and March. The Bills aren’t looking for cosmetic upgrades. They need to redivide the entire stadium to match up the best locations with ammentiites. A “new” version of the stadium will look nothing like what we are accustomed to. I am not sure that can be done in the short term and there isn’t a facility to house them. I suppose they could play in Toronto but we all know how well that will go over.
  21. Where do they play for the 2 years that it will take?
  22. So 7% of the US can drive a stick but 83.52% of TBD claims to be able to? I’m not surprised.
  23. Not that this has anything to do with anything but I have a buddy that went to play youth football in Oklahoma when he was 7. They couldn’t fit a helmet over his fat head so the kids were all making fun of him. He quit immediately.
  24. Yeah, I forgot about his bounce back years with the Jets. He had a good year and a ridiculous year in a Bills uniform.
