Jody Demling has hit 9 of the last 10 Oaks-Derby doubles and he is betting War of Will. War of Will won the Risen Star and was the favorite in the Louisiana Derby. He ran a terrible race but supposedly has trained really well. I didn’t use him much but just ran out and bet another $20 to win on him because of Demling. The game has changed IMO. The days of the big physical receivers are over. The rules have taken away the physicality of the DBs. The name of the game now is separation and speed. Antonio Brown and OBJ are the new prototypes.

I challenge anyone to put on the Week 17 game, with that offensive talent, and not be OVERLY optimistic. It’s funny because the people that have seen him the most are the highest on him. Allen wasn’t my guy. He had a low floor and a high ceiling and didn’t want the risk. A year later he’s way further along than I expected and a much better athlete. He has a chance to be a star.

That was discussed pages ago. I think that it’s important that you read it because you share the same risk. Long story, short, if someone were to be injured in this situation they would 100% be liable. They’d be sued and try to settle.

Oliver was playing out of position, on an average team, and not for the coach that recruited him. He would have been out a year earlier if he allowed to be. He was being wasted and had nothing to do but go back. I NEVER think that protecting your draft status is a bad thing. Bosa did it too and he was on a competitive team. If you have a Jaylon Smith type of injury you earning potential plummets. Smith was a consensus top 3 pick and has made $6.5M total including this year. Joey Bosa went 3rd in that draft and has made $25.9M total including this year. NOT protecting his draft status has already cost Jaylon Smith between $19m-$20m. I’m sorry but I don’t see that as a red flag at all. To me, it’s like Final Jeopardy. If you already have a runaway victory there’s no reason to bet an amount to where you could possibly lose!! You’ve already clinched.

Go back and watch Oliver from freshman and sophomore year and you’ll be in love. Last year he played zero and tried to protect his draft status. A year ago, he and Bosa were the consensus top 2 picks. He’s going to be SPECIAL.

I’m going to bet the over this year. I think that the Bills are about 8-8 this year with potential to be a few better or a few worse. 6.5 is already giving you a 1 game cushion on the negative side. I don’t think that the Bills will be worse than 6-10 if Allen stays healthy. To me, it feels like about 70% that they’ll be over 6.5. Additionally, I made a couple of small futures bets earlier this offseason on the Bills winning the AFC & the Super Bowl. If Allen makes the big year 2 leap (which he’s capable of) the Bills could be the surprise team of the NFL. Use By My Standards to hit the board, supposedly he’s been training like a monster according to the TVG people.

I think that’s the point. This isn’t taking that away from anyone. There are other lots that allow it, just not bus and limo. This is targeted at a specific group where the vast majority of these injuries have taken place. They aren’t doing this to take away from the people that have a few beers. This is designed to stop the lunacy that has occurred in that lot. Yes, it isn’t the majority of the people but it is enough that it warranted change. The Bills have a LOT of exposure and deep pockets. They would rather take some control than end up writing checks to drunk idiots. This is for the safety of those than have proven to not be able to keep themselves safe.

Signs are like waivers. They help in that they show people knew what they were getting into but they do not release liability. If you have a wet floor sign down and someone slips and falls they can (and will still file a claim). Things like friction co-efficient, cleaning solution application, following manufacturer’s suggested use, will all be brought into play and the carrier will pay. One of my client’s has the janitorial contract at the airport and we see it all of the time. Fortunately for them, they have a strong sub agreement in place (which WILL supersede an insurance policy). These claims all get passed down to the sub.

This isn’t even debatable. The team would 100% be held accountable in this situation, as would the county, police, parking administrators, etc... If someone jumped off a bus and ended up paralyzed they all would be pulled into the suit. Their insurance covers the defense as well. They would almost certainly settle for a big amount while racking up legal bills. I would venture to say that a paralyzation from this would make it to the Bills umbrella carrier. That is another GIANT concern of NFL teams. Currently, there is really only one umbrella carrier that covers for traumatic brain injury (CTE). Pretty much every team has their first $20m-$25M umbrella placed with that carrier. The other $50M (which is what most carry $75m total) is placed elsewhere. If that primary umbrella carrier ever dropped the Bills they would be on the hook for all traumatic brain injury beyond $1M. This is a NIGHTMARE scenario for them.
