  1. Someone please explain to me the advantage of playing a “blocking TE” that absolutely is no threat in the passing game as opposed to an extra OL?
  2. I do think that there are places he fits better like NE, KC, Rams, Saints, Browns and maybe even someone like the Texans. Watson is still productive (although not as productive as 5 years ago). He is a “can’t miss” vet presence that any team could use. From his standpoint though, I’m not sure he should go to ANY team that isn’t a Super Bowl contender at age 38 or 39 or whatever he is.
  3. Ben Watson is, arguably, the best locker room presence in the NFL. He has been a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year twice (3 guys are finalists each year in the entire league). He has one of the highest wonderlic scores a player has ever had at 48 (tied with Ryan Fitzpatrick). He’s caught 96 balls for 922 yards and 6 TDs over the last 2 years. How could anyone object to this guy coming into the locker room for a year or 2?
  4. FWIW, I’ve heard that they aren’t nearly as on the same page as we believe (which is probably a credit to them). They aren’t at odds with each other but they aren’t inseparable either as I understand it. They have their fair share of disagreements which ultimately results in “who’s role is this?” There is no debate on that end of it. They both probably wanted Oliver as that was an easy decision.
  5. I guess that it is If I knew how to block someone I’d make you my first. ?
  6. “Grammar Police” has commonly been used around here to refer to those taking issue with something other than the topic. You took issue with “cliche” applying to McBeane. One of the definitions of “cliche” is “something that has become overly familiar or commonplace.” I would say that McBeane, especially in these parts, would meet that definition.
  7. This is where we are in 100% disagreement. The scouting staff prepares the reports. The personnel department analyzes the players and the GM picks the guy that they want. The Bills are certainly collaborative but personnel decisions are made by Beane’s team. Joe Schoen and Dan Morgan ABSOLUTELY have a bigger say in that room than McDermott. That’s always the case. They aren’t interchangeable despite their collaboration.
  8. Or just change the title to, “which of these is worse?” That will hopefully appease the grammar police.
  9. That’s what I hate about it. They have different jobs!! We don’t refer to Josh Allen and Jerry Hughes as “Hallen.”
  10. We have a couple of evenly matched candidates that no one wants to win. It’s the 2016 election all over...
  11. Also, I’m removing “McClappy” from the poll. It isn’t used anywhere near as often as the other 2 and is kind of an “easy out” because it’s meant to be insulting. Which saying that people use (that sucks) needs to go? It is Process vs. McBeane
  12. The flip side to that is that the college coaching job is a combination of coaching and GM. The overall “program” isn’t much different from the NFL. The NFL has taken a big page from college recently in terms of “recruiting (hence the new facility). You need to create an environment that maximizes the player’s value and satisfaction. The Bills signed the most FA (I think) and NO ONE would argue that it’s a prime FA destination. It’s the infrastructure in place that allows them to attract guys that the Bengals can’t. Alabama couldn’t recruit with David Shula, Notre Dame with Bob Davies, the Bills with Modrak/Guy, UM with Brady Hoke, and now you are seeing it at USC. It isn’t that different.
  13. If he’s a 70’s throwback I’m surprised Jon Gruden didn’t burn one of those 1sts on him.
  14. Ansah ALWAYS has to be a “guy at the right price.” He’s also a weird fit here because he really SHOULD be on a 1 year “prove-it” deal. The Bills are fine at DE this year (obviously he’d make them better). It’s 2020 where they potentially have a big hole.
  15. I wasn’t going to add it because it is used about 5% as often as the other 2. They are all terrible and lazy though.
  16. It’s obnoxious. They are two separate people with 2 separate roles. If you like the personnel that’s Beane. If you like the coaching and preparedness that’s McDermott. It’s year 3 and we need to look at them as different people. FWIW, I think that they both do a good job.
  17. Now that we have reached peak offseason it feels like a good time for some spring cleaning. Which of these 2 gets voted off the island first? While they both need to go, let’s see which one TBD finds more annoying.
  18. I’d bump Houston, Jacksonville, and Cleveland 1 tier. I’d probably drop the the Steelers a tier.
  19. Their client base is pretty impressive IMO. I just clicked the link and they deal with some big time football programs in college and the NFL.
  20. All of this sounds like a justification for why they need to be taller. Separation matters
  21. I don’t know that’s a low percentage play. If you look at the TD totals last year Antonio Brown, Davante Adams and Tyreke Hill were the top 3 WRs. All of them are separation guys.
