Ej has every right to compete too. You and I have a right to compete too. Someone has to give us an opportunity though. If he makes the team, great, I’m glad that he will be in the AFC. I just don’t want to hear “poor Nate” when he inevitably fails. I hope to one day work in a place where I can get paid $500K a year to be worse at my job than anyone that has ever done it.

Gruden will be wrong and that’s fine. We have nothing to lose when the guy fails. When McDermott thought playing him was a good idea, I had an issue. It turns out, despite his qualifications, many of us were right and he was wrong. Maybe “Billsy” isn’t the perfect term for what I was getting at but we all know that insecure Buffalo mentality. We don’t see it quite as much since the Pegula’s took over but we still see it. This underlying fear that “we aren’t good enough to have what everyone else has so we cling to the next tier to justify our place.” We love a guy like Fred Jackson (and he’s one of my favorites) but let’s not kid ourselves, he’s not Zeke. We love the hard-working overachievers. We put Phil Hansen on the Wall of Fame but not Cornelius Bennett. That’s just craziness to me. The ONLY thing that I care about is “who helps the Bills the most?” It doesn’t bother me. It bothers me that people keep a soft spot for him. He’s collecting an NFL paycheck while doing the job worse than anyone ever. If he keeps getting paid good for him. It makes no difference to me. It’s the pity that he gets that rubs me the wrong way. He has made $1,046,169 to play like he has. He will make another $645,000 if he makes the team this year. There is no reason to feel sorry for him. If I could make $500,000 a year, to be worse at my job than any else ever, sign me up.

I don’t care if he’s on someone else’s roster. I just know that he stinks and damaged my favorite team. Fortunately, they walked away (well after they should have). I don’t care what happens to him but I do think that it’s BS that he keeps getting chances that more deserving players don’t. It bothers me that people still defend him. I don’t remember anyone that wanted Brohm, Hamdan, Brown or every other scrub QB to get another chance so badly. It’s such a “Billsy” mentality in a lot of ways. We always love the lovable underdog and resent the blue chippers. It is the oddest insecurity complex and Peterman, in many ways, was the poster boy for it. There were people that LEGITIMATELY wanted that guy to start. Give me stars and wins. It doesn’t matter if a guy was an undrafted FA out of NW Central Idaho State that bagged groceries or if he was the top recruit in the country that started at Alabama. I don’t gravitate towards one vs. the other because one feels more “Buffalo.” Maybe it is just me but the whole “lunch pail” mentality doesn’t matter. The ONLY thing that matters to me in player evaluation is “does this guy improve the Bills chances of winning?” In the case of Nathan Peterman, that answer was unequivocally no.

They disagreed with my judgement. However, the facts support me and not them. 198 NFL people picked someone other than Tom Brady in 2000. Just because they work in the NFL doesn’t make them right. Every time Peterman has stepped out on the field my stance (and that of many others here) has been proven more true than before. I thought starting him the 1st time was a huge mistake. McDermott didn’t think that. I was right. He was wrong. I don't care what coaches think the guy can play. He can’t. His play has proven that.

If you look earlier in the thread I provided multiple stats that have him worse than any QB in the last 40 years. Not near the bottom, but dead last. The point that I was making is that if EVERYONE else has performed better (and the stats support it) EVERY player would be more likely to carve out a useful role than him. Based on the stats, Deshone Kizer is twice as likely to carve out a useful role as Peterman. Deshone Kizer has the 2nd worst passer rating since NP entered the league. Why waste a spot on a guy that is 1/2 as effective as Deshone Kizer? You can throw a rock and find a guy that can give you what NP does. It’s the definition of insanity at this point. Run NP out there and get the same performance but expect something different.
-
They certainly aren’t keeping him around for his production. He has been TWICE as bad as the next worst QB since entering the league. He’s a nice guy, that tries hard so he gets a chance. He has been historically bad, not a guy with some struggles. I understand why Losman & EJ got chances again. They had some tools and flashed some. Ultimately they weren’t very good but there was SOMETHING that the next team could point to. Nate doesn’t have the physical tools, makes awful decisions and has the worst tape of any player to play the position. Him being a nice guy and a good teammate is the only logical reason that I can come up with.
-
Here are some facts then: - 356 QBs have thrown at least 130 passes over the last 40 NFL seasons. Nate Peterman ranks DEAD LAST with a passer rating of 32.5. Only one other player (Spergyon Wynn at 39.5) is below a rating of 42. - Nate Peterman’s 9.2 INT % ranks DEAD LAST and only one other guy is above a 7 (Peter Tom Willis at 8.2). Peterman is doing this in an era where guys are lighting it up in the passing game. To further the example, since he entered the league his passer rating is 32.5. The next lowest of ANY QB in that window with at least 130 pass attempts is 60. The next worst QB in the league has been TWICE as good as Nate.
-
Tyrod has a winning record as a starter and didn’t make mistakes. You only have your resume to stand on. Nate’s resume is WAY worse than a lot of guys that were given less chances. Were you appalled that Levi Brown didn’t get more chances? Was he treated unfairly? He certainly never collapsed like Peterman. Why does Nate deserve a chance? He has failed at his. I feel much worse for guys like Brown or Hamdan or the thousands of other guys that didn’t get the chance that Nate did (and keeps getting). It is a production business and he has not EARNED a spot on a NFL roster. He has been GIVEN it because he’s a nice guy. If I were EJ or whomever, I’d be furious. This guy that hasn’t never done anything is taking a check that I am more deserving of. How would you feel if that was your job? What if you were in a sales role and everyone liked you. You were BY FAR the worst salesman in the organization but they fired someone else because you were a nice guy. That other guy has a family. That other guy has proven to be better at the role than you. Why should he not have the chance but a proven failure should? That’s close, I think Grossman had a game that was equally terrible. They also had moments of success. Nate only failed.
-
He’s historically the worst ever. By definition, it would literally be LESS SURPRISING if any other QB in history had success as a backup over him. It would be beyond shocking.
-
This x 1,000. Nate has stolen enough money from NFL teams that other people were more deserving of. I wish him the best in life but he does not deserve an NFL paycheck.

You honestly can’t make this stuff up!! Ha ha ha, good luck with that Jon

How frequently do you go to beaches?
Kirby Jackson replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I probably go about 5-6 times a year. My family is in South Florida at Easter and we take another trip to the Caribbean in Feb/March. I live about 3 hours from Gulf Shores and 4 hours from Destin. We normally take a guy’s trip to Mullet Toss and then I try to go for 3 -4 weekends during the summer. It seems to be Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. That is a bit of a perfect year but that is what I shoot for. -
NFL Network Top 100 Players - total snub?
Kirby Jackson replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that the Bills have guys that could be in there. It’s only something like 10% of the league that votes though so it isn’t indicative of everyone. As an example if 22% of the AFC West votes and 6% of the AFC East the guys out West are more likely to be selected because the players are more familiar with them. EDIT: 1,098 players submitted ballots this year. That’s way higher than in previous years (65% of the league). -
NFL Network Top 100 Players - total snub?

Players vote for all-star games too. It’s the same type of popularity contest. They vote for their friends and on reputation. Also, a very, very small percentage of players actually vote. -

Is this where I say Baltimore is a “rodent and rat infested mess?” Asking for a friend.... -
NFL Network Top 100 Players - total snub?
Kirby Jackson replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh, I’m not too worried about that nonsense. It’s a popularity contest. The Bills have a few guys that are in the “real” top 100 players. They don’t have a bunch of guys in the top 30 but their talent is ascending. -
Arizona releases Robert Nkemdiche
Kirby Jackson replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ed Oliver got double and triple teamed the second he stepped foot on the Houston campus. That wasn’t new with the position switch. They had him at the zero (which is out of position). The second that he got a little dinged though, he shut it down (which anyone with a brain should do). He declared before last season even started. Oliver was a lock because his tape was that good. That’s the difference between he and Nkemdiche. Both of them entered college with a lot of hype. One of them consistently dominated and one of them flashed at times. That’s why they were different prospects entering the NFL. -
Arizona releases Robert Nkemdiche
Kirby Jackson replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The biggest difference between Nkemdiche & Oliver is the production. Each were ELITE recruits but Oliver may be the best freshman to ever play college football. His sophomore year was also dominant. His last year was about protecting his draft status as he had already cemented himself as a LOCK to go in the top 10. Nkemdiche was a part of (arguably) the shadiest recruiting class ever. He was a great recruit but there was some shady business going on. If memory serves me correctly he came in with Treadwell & Tunsil. That Ole Miss program was not one built on character. -
Let’s not kid ourselves. He’s going on the visit because he knows it will end with a good meal.

I didn’t think that this thread was about an NFL team considering Benjamin. I thought that the news was that KB worked out.

Predict the 4 teams in the playoff for college 2019-2020

No, they should be loaded. Alabama has given them such a hard time of late though. It’s tough to project LSU finishing ahead of ‘Bama. -
