  1. If they choose books they may come out of school making $60k or $70k on a good day. If they get to the league the minimum is $480k. It’s not a tough decision for someone that’s at that level. It’s just a hard fall. If I were in that situation I would do the EXACT same thing and think 98% of people would do the same.
  2. Not saying it’s a problem, we just miss the human element. We celebrate certain guys getting cut or making the team. We are all guilty of it. The reality is, for guys like Abraham Wallace, it sucks. This was his chance to provide for his family. He’s going to be starting over.
  3. You missed the point. When someone says, “they make more in the months that they are there than I do in a year.” That’s when you talk about career length.
  4. Oh they can, and I work with one now. They don’t all have MBAs though. 78% of all NFL players are either broke or in financial distress within 2 years of their careers ending. They are all starting over and they aren’t all starting over at the top.
  5. ...and you will work for 50 years. They may work for 3
  6. Roughly 25% on practice squads, 900 or so will be without jobs. Yes, it is part of the job and everyone knows that going in. That doesn’t AT ALL change the fact that 900 men and their families will be starting over. That isn’t something to celebrate. This is a chance for them to earn a lot of money in a short period of time. It isn’t a life changing amount for the back of the roster guys but it’s a start. I have 2 good friends that were fringe guys. One guy was on 7 rosters in 6 years (mostly as a PS guy) and the other guy had a 7 year career as a special teamer/backup LB. When they got dinged they couldn’t say a word for fear of losing their livelihood. The guy that was the LB said that he had at least 11 concussions and never said a word. This isn’t a guy with no other options either. He has an MBA and great people skills. That’s just the reality of the life that those guy’s live.
  7. This is a tough few days for about 1,200 men and their families. Far too often we lose sight of that. These guys have sacrificed for their whole lives to get to this point. Thought it was important to keep that in perspective as we celebrate/complain about guys that we wanted to keep/lose their jobs. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27483799/what-really-cut-nfl
  8. I really think that the Bills keep 7 WRs with Duke also making it. Jaquan Johnson makes it for me as well. I think only 2 of Boettger/Long/Bates make the team. I will go with Long & Bates. There’s no way that I would keep 4 TEs plus a FB but suspect that the Bills will. There’s where I’d find the other roster spot but my guess is that it is one of Pitts/Neal/Marlowe that has Johnson’s spot. So I guess from your list: out: Boettger out: Marlowe (last cut) in: Williams in: Johnson If Kroft isn’t ready I think Marlowe makes it and Smith is released when Kroft comes back.
  9. This is a great move as far as I’m concerned. They can take one of those picks and try to find a punter perhaps? Teller was OL 8 or 9 on this team. They turned him into something useful.
  10. Anyone here ever get Botox? Maybe it’s my midlife crisis kicking in but it has crossed my mind recently. My ex used to go so I’ve paid for Botox but never had it.
  11. It’s like everything on here. If it’s something that you WANT to happen you’ll believe any and everything. If it’s something that you DON’T WANT he could be at the introductory press conference and you won’t think it’s real.
  12. He just needs someone to give him a chance...
  13. Death, Taxes and Swag in trouble
  14. I have anxiety pretty much all day everyday. At one time or another was pretty much prescribed everything. What I’ve found is a vape pen before bed kills the anxiety through the night. Can’t mess with it during the day because of work but give it a try!! You won’t worry about week 1 at all.
  15. Here’s a great Israeli Couscous recipe from Chef Alon Shaya. His restaurant here won the James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in America a couple of years ago. It is primarily Mediterranean foods with a bit of a New Orleans influence (at least at times). At any rate, this is pretty easy and makes a versatile side when attending parties or hosting. https://www.today.com/recipes/israeli-couscous-summer-vegetables-recipe-t153858
  16. He won’t get signed if that’s the case. Guys get workouts every day that we don’t even necessarily hear about. I’d think that teams would see where he is physically and mentally. He’s only 31. If you needed a returner at this point of the offseason why wouldn’t you put him through a workout? It would be negligent not to.
  17. Can’t say that I saw this coming but whatever. He will get some workouts but don’t know that he ends up on a roster.
  18. Yeah, I remember when he was being recruited these videos were floating out there and just absurd. He looks like Andy Reid at the punt, pass and kick competition
  19. Been a while since these have been on here:
  20. Not for nothing, because a 3rd round comp pick will come the following year I believe. That’s why they won’t take a trash offer.
  21. I have no idea why they’d trade Tunsil. Those rumors have been pretty widely reported though. It may be overblown but usually when there’s smoke there’s fire. That doesn’t mean that he will he moves but his name has surfaced. Maybe I’m wrong, but feel like the offer will be a lot more than what people here are speculating. If not, he probably signs the tender and plays out the season in Houston as a Super Bowl contender. They let him walk in the offseason and get that 3rd round comp pick. They aren’t just going to give him away.
  22. That’s what it sounds like to me. I don’t know much about the player but those hybrid/tweeners have fit well in McDermott’s system.
  23. It’s certainly risky. You’d have to be confident in the player and the person. If he walks you’d get a comp pick the following year I think. If there are multiple teams involved you’ll have to pay the price. I honestly think there are going to be better options than what we are bringing to the table (ie Tunsil). With that being said, supposedly, Gaine wanted an extension and O’Brien didn’t. I’d think that the Bills would have a lot of trust from Clowney and his people.
