  1. Yeah, it was a gamble which is why they gave themselves this out. They should take it. Murphy just isn’t good. He doesn’t rush the passer and he’s a total liability vs. the run. I’m disappointed in him. When they got him I expected like an 8 sack guy that was solid all-around. Ironically, that’s kind of the player that Shaq actually is. Re-signing him raises the floor for the Bills. The worst case scenario would be Hughes/Shaq/Johnson/Yarborough (or whatever). That’s no worse than what we have right now. I think that they are going to chase a pass rusher though. Ideally they’d love Clowney but realistically think it’s a tier down or Yeter Gross-Mattos in the draft.
  2. I had him at $8M. I can’t see him signing for less than Murphy did 2 years ago. Cut Murphy and save $7.2M in cap space and hand it to Shaq. It feels like a pretty easy solution. Sign or draft a big time pass rusher too. That gives you FA/Hughes/Shaq/Darryl Johnson (or whomever). That’s an upgrade to where we are today.
  3. I think it looks a lot like the contract Murphy signed last year. He got 3 years and $22.5M with $10.375M guaranteed. Shaq may get a little more than that with the cap always rising. I’m thinking like 3 years, $24M, $12M guaranteed.
  4. I’m not sure. Usually it’s pretty organized but it may get thrown off with the holiday. Feel free to pm me though and we can catch up.
  5. I scrolled back a few pages and didn’t see this (although I thought there was a thread). If so, mods feel free to merge. Who will be attending tomorrow? If so, are there plans before? We have a group of like 10ish but only about half are actual Bills fans. The others will be pretty indifferent. I was just trying to see if there is some sort of pre-game plans?
  6. Oh, I have no issue playing this Alabama team. I’ve been saying all year that they weren’t the same team. I predicted a double digit win by LSU and without that 85 yard TD with a minute to go it would have been. Now, I think that they are better than an average Auburn team. They need to win convincingly to have any shot. They don’t have any good wins and won’t play for a conference titles. When you put their resume side-by-side with OU, OU has the superior resume (assuming they win out). They will have beaten the team ranked 9 twice. They will have wins over a ranked Iowa State, a ranked Oklahoma State and a ranked, at the time UT. They will have a conference championship as well. It’s going to be tough, if not impossible, for Alabama with 1 ranked win (and Auburn may fall out of the rankings with a bad loss) and no conference championship. I don’t think that’s a controversial opinion at all. I’m fact, every expert on that show last night said that. Utah is the other team that has an argument. I just don’t see enough quality wins because the PAC isn’t very good. They have been really tough though. I think OU jumps them both with a win in Bedlam and conference championship win over Baylor.
  7. I’ve been talking about this all week. For as easy as the Bills schedule has been they have played a few pretty good teams in absolute, must-win, games. That definitely makes it tougher.
  8. And when they do (Chandler Jones, Richard Seymour) they trade them before they walk.
  9. Lawson, to me, is the exact type of guy that the Patriots have. He’s a guy that is scheme versatile and rarely makes mistakes. He’s really good against the run and gets a little pressure. He can slide inside in a pinch. He the sort of “unsung” role player that good teams have. I kind of feel the same way about our guards. Just solid football players
  10. These guys have their relationships and it happens. Marrone would have died on Crossman Hill. I don’t like it but it has always been that way and will always be that way.
  11. The OL is playing really well at the moment. The change from Castillo to Johnson has been night and day too.
  12. I wasn’t a Minnesota believer until I saw them really beat up Penn State. They didn’t steal that game. They were the better team. There only loss is a 4 point loss at a top 20 Iowa. Obviously we are going to learn a lot about the Gophers over the next 2 weeks with Wisconsin and then potentially Ohio State. They aren’t getting in with 2 losses but they control their own destiny at this point. I’d rank those teams: UGA Minnesota Auburn A&M Alabama needs a statement win this week (which I think is possible if not likely). They have to win by 4 plus scores. If they do and LSU beats UGA I think they still have a shot at the 4th spot. I know those guys today think that it will be Utah or OU but those teams still have work to do. OU has to beat 2 ranked teams still. Utah will still have to beat Oregon (even though they look to be just okay too).
  13. I’m not totally opposed to him. I’d rather invest the savings in Spain but they have plenty of money. At the same time you are going to be paying Felciano less than Long. You can find quality depth if you trust your scouts. I’m indifferent on Long. He’s been okay and he’s versatile. Is he better than Bates? I don’t know. He could be the depth guy. I am fine with it either way.
  14. I’d certainly have Long above the other 2. I’m a touch indifferent on him coming back. Kroft and Murphy feel like pretty easy decisions.
  15. I don’t see any reason to keep Trent. You can save $7.2M by releasing him. That feels like a no-brainer. He’s a bad player. You can get equal or better production for half the price. Regardless of the cap space they already have there is zero reason for Trent Murphy to be on this team in 2020. The same goes for Kroft and Spencer Long imo (there is another $9Mish in those 2).
  16. Texas A&M is like Auburn this year. They are fine when they play bad teams. They haven’t beaten a ranked team. Their best win is a 1 score win at Ole Miss. Minnesota on the other hand has a top 10 win and their only loss is a 4 point road loss in one of the toughest places to play. On a neutral field tomorrow they are a double digit favorite over A&M. That’s the problem that the SEC faces in getting a 2nd team in. There just isn’t enough quality from the rest of the league. I believe that Alabama is the 4th best team in the country today. It’s just not going to be easy for them to get in with their best wins coming against an unranked A&M and an Auburn team that may be unranked after the game. It depends if the committee wants best team or best resume. If OU, for example, wins out it will be impossible to deny them that spot (assuming LSU, OSU and Clemson have locked up the other spots). They will have a bunch of good wins and a conference championship.
  17. Brown is a freak but the reason Auburn is just an okay football team is Nix. They are going to have 1 win against a ranked team and that’s an overrated Oregon team. They are going to have 4 losses by this weekend and barely be ranked themselves. The SEC just doesn’t have the depth that it did a decade ago. There are still really good teams in LSU, Alabama, UGA and to a lesser extent Florida. That really isn’t that different though from the Big 10 for example with OSU, PSU, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. In the past the SEC was given far more credit because of the depth. As we sit today the Big 10 has 5 of the top 13 and the SEC has 4. They just aren’t going to get the benefit of the doubt like in past years because the gap has closed. I really believe that a 1 loss OU or 1 loss Utah or 1 loss Minnesota is going to jump into the top 4. I think, assuming wins this week, Clemson, Ohio State and LSU are in the playoff regardless of the conference championship games. I believe Alabama is the 4th best team but don’t see how their spot can be justified over a 1 loss conference champ that’s going to have a better resume.
  18. I don’t “not miss him” because he quit at halftime. I don’t miss him because he was done as a football player.
  19. Rudolph always sucked. I remember a certain segment of people here that wanted to draft that guy!!
  20. I’m with you here. Losing close games rips me apart emotionally. I always think “what if ....” When you get beat like the Rams did last night you just kind of go “welp.” Plus it would be a blast leading up to the Super Bowl just like it was in Jax. The anticipation and party was unreal.
  21. Both Goff and McVay have been overrated for a while.
  22. He wins some handicapping pool and something else if they cover. I think it’s about $1500 to him or something like that.
  23. My brother has a bunch of money riding on it so I’ll cheer for the Rams. I actually think it benefits the Bills though if Baltimore wins. It doesn’t help them a lot either way.
  24. I don’t like playing desperate teams. This is the 2nd time this year that we played an NFC East team in a must win scenario. As easy as the schedule has been it’s tough playing teams that absolutely have to win the game. That’s the case here
