  1. FWIW, the sense that Brees is retiring has really caught traction over the last week or so here. I don’t buy it but buy it more than I did a month ago. I’m not sure where it came from but those that follow the Saints closely think it’s possible.
  2. Trent Edwards He had a chance to be a good game manager and was scared to death. I know that he got hit but couldn’t stand the fear that he played with. Honorable mention to Drew Bledsoe (most overrated player in Bills History), Chris Hogan, Nathan Peterman (worst player in Bills history), Melvin Fowler (weird but he was an a hole), and Derrick Dockery (worst contract in Bills History). These may not be exact because I can’t think of everyone but it is a bunch of guys I didn’t care for as Bills. FWIW, I found Marshawn to be the most engaging player in the organization. He was fan-friendly and not because he was forced to. He is legitimately a really bright guy, that enjoyed Buffalo, and wanted to embrace the community. In my time around there he was almost certainly my favorite player (Melvin Fowler my least in that era).
  3. The guy was an extremely young player playing for Rex Ryan!! Are we at all surprised that it wasn’t a good situation?!? You heard numerous vets say the exact same thing. Side note, my buddy that played for Saban and BB finished his career with Rob Ryan as his coordinator. He said it was the most unorganized, unprofessional environment that he ever experienced. It was a disaster. He laughs at it.
  4. Gross I feel like a total hypocrite because I probably consume about 95% of their content, but can’t stand Portnoy.
  5. If we are sticking in the NFC South how about: - Mike Evans for pick 22 & Levi Wallace - Curtis Samuel for a 4th or 5th - Ty Sambrailo for a 6th I would make any of these deals in a second.
  6. I’ve said it on here before but if you want someone on the Saints that’s “more gettable” I would look to Alvin Kamara. He’s the guy that I think is available. I don’t see them paying him and they don’t have a 2nd. Kamara for a 2nd and a 5th? Work out a contract extension as part of the deal. If that’s the case you can draft a “hammer type back” late (maybe AJ Dillon). You would have a strong RB room. You could take your WR in the 1st and again in the 4th or 5th. Sign a pass rusher and you are in business.
  7. If we are spending big on OL this is the move I’d prefer as well. You can kick Ford inside and/or bring back Spain. RT has been the issue and that’s the most important OL spot to address this offseason IMO.
  8. All that in saying is that it’s possible. It’s not like the Raiders saying “Peterman is an option.” Taysom is possibly the most popular player on the Saints INCLUDING Drew. He’s just a guy that is going to keep seeing his role grow. He will start seeing more snaps at QB and COULD be given the chance in the short term if Brees retires. (Believe it or not there seem to be a lot of Saints fans that have been talking about that this week). I’d put the chances at like 15-20% that Taysom is given a chance as the successor. I’m not saying it’s likely but it’s absolutely possible. This isn’t a “Matt Barkley” situation.
  9. Interesting...I know that the Buckeyes came after him late and couldn’t land him. I don’t know a ton about him other than I think he will be a huge weapon as a pro. That game he played in the Belk bowl was one of the best games I saw a guy play this year.
  10. I don’t see them getting a 2nd. They will get a comp pick if he walks. I’m not sure that they get a 3rd otherwise. He missed all of 2018 and 4 more games this past season. He was having a nice year but I don’t see any team paying a premium for a TE that they will have to turn around and give $10M plus to. This holds especially true with Austin Hooper potentially on the market.
  11. I like Chicago as a thought. The Raiders make some sense. If I had to guess though I’d say New England.
  12. I just don’t see him out there. They stink. They have no fans. I see no reason to go from 38 year-old QB to a 43 year-old QB. If the Chargers are moving on from Rivers they should do it with a young guy. The 2 young guys in that range have different concerns but neither will be starting week 1 IMO. Dalton or Tyrod makes the most sense short-term to me. Have a bridge guy for a few weeks to year needed and then turn it over to the young guy. That doesn’t feel like a Brady situation to me.
  13. Apparently you’ve never seen @Royale with Cheese when he goes to work...
  14. They are just nothing alike though. DiMarco is a plodding, part-time FB. Taysom, is 6’2” and 221 lbs. He runs a 4.44. He scored 6 TDs on 19 catches and averaged almost 6 yards a carry on the ground!! He’s an explosive athlete. DiMarco is closer to Star than he is to Taysom.
  15. My answer to that is the Saints thought they were a Super Bowl favorite. Drew went out in week 2 so this was before Lamar changed the league. I don’t think Payton was trying to experiment too much. He was hoping Teddy would hold down the fort (which he did). If they ever make the move to Taysom I believe that it will come with a semi-reset. I don’t think that’s this year either. I could see Taysom get worked in a little more as a QB this year with Teddy going elsewhere (which I suspect). They can run a Taysom package 5-10 plays a game and he would also serve as the number 2. That would give them the chance to get a deeper look at him as a QB and expand the offense with some of those Lamar elements.
  16. I wouldn’t make that bet if I were you. I’m not saying that the Saints would just hand him the keys but he’s absolutely an option. They are incredibly high on him. That’s not lip service from them either. Sean Payton saw some of the things Lamar was able to do and could tailor an offense in a similar manner. Before someone says, “but Lamar is so fast” keep in mind that Taysom is a 4.4 (faster than Kamara and Michael Thomas). Pretty sure he’d be the 2nd fastest QB in the league behind only Lamar. He isn’t just a if bodied guy. He’s an explosive athlete.
  17. This Is kind of the point. Taysom isn’t worth discussing IMO because he isn’t going anywhere. He’s, arguably, the most popular player on the Saints. They continue to expand his role and think the world of him. Taysom just isn’t a realistic option for anyone but the Saints. The 3rd option should be, “It doesn’t matter what I think because he’s not leaving the Saints.” That option should receive 100% of the votes.
  18. For me it was always about quality of life. Autonomy and flexibility have always been at or near the top of my list. Basically, how much control do I have over my environment? Had a guy come in once for an interview and proceeded to tell us how he got drunk and vomited on Bourbon Street the night before. He then told us that he forgot his tie so he paid a bellhop for his!! We then said, “do you have any other questions for us?” He confidently responded, “Just one question from me, so how much are you guys going to pay me?” I’ve probably interviewed a hundred or so people in my career and this was BY MILES the worst. The sad part is his resume and experience were strong. I guess you don’t know what you are getting until you meet them.
  19. Don’t forget Tommy Sweeney. I would have preferred a WR to Cody Ford in the 2nd and would have loved the class. With that being said, he’s okay. There were just more impactful options IMO. I’d say that the class is a solid B/B+
  20. Not to dwell on cap space but you can release Murphy and Kroft and save almost $14M. There is money to be saved on Long as well as DiMarco. The Bills aren’t tied to any really bad contracts (outside of Star). They have a lot of flexibility at this point.
  21. I’m thinking that they draft a guy early (Herbert or Tua) and roll with Tyrod or Dalton for now. If Tua is at full health he probably starts day 1. Herbert should be more of a mid season type of thing.
  22. I think it depends on where Roberts sits. I tend to think of him as just ST. He can’t be higher than 6 (or 7). I would be totally fine if Roberts, Brown and Beasley are the only guys back from last year. McKenzie or Duke can be 5 or 6. Anyway you slice it though you need 2 to 3 more including a number 1.
  23. That’s part of the reason I think a trade up for Jeudy is possible. If he lasts to the teens (which he probably won’t) the Bills will be on the phone. They say he’s as good of a route runner as they’ve ever graded at this point. To me that says “smallest learning curve” and “highest floor.” Receivers often take some time to adjust but Jeudy will enter the league ready to go. 22, a 3rd and 4th....something like that
