Can Any of the 2020 Draft Picks Start?
Kirby Jackson replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100% agree with you. I believe that Singletary could be (and will be) a star. He’s just so smooth. Moss is a great change of pace to him. He’s the hammer and has a physical, violent running style that will wear teams down. If you add Josh to that equation you have potential for a dynamic running game. -
Can Any of the 2020 Draft Picks Start?

This is where I’m at. I think that Singletary will get about 70% of the snaps but that may be a little high. Epenesa will be in the regular DE rotation as well. Those 2 positions, along with DT, the Bills don’t really have starters and backups. They play a rotation. Those 2 players will be in the rotation. I believe that Bass wins the kicker job. As a little bit of an off-the-radar guess it’s possible (not likely) that Trey Adams wins the RT job. -
So are the Bengals making a mistake if they start Burrow over Ryan Finley week 1? One has played in the league and the other hasn’t.
-
So just to be clear you’d feel better starting Matt Barkley than Tua or Burrow week 1? If that’s the case I VEHEMENTLY disagree.
-
I mean I feel good that guys drafted in the first round are bigger threats than Chad Henne. Who are the 10 guys that people like more than the 1st round picks? Where should Joe Burrow fall on this list if he weren’t starting?

Convince me that the 2020 Pats are good...

Gregg Williams Also, Bledsoe was DONE the year before. I was living in Boston at that time. I remember the Bills had a parade when they traded for him. I was cursing at the TV. He came in an played 8 great games and from that point forward was no better than EJ, Edwards, Losman, etc... -
Perfectly said!! The best scenarios are the weird Dalton/Winston type of things along with the Tua/Herbert/Love situations. You either want a borderline starter that has proven they can get the job done or a young guy with a lot of natural ability. The worst situation is a veteran scrub.
-
I guess if the argument is 1 game it’s valid. If it’s 8 games it isn’t. I want the backup that can go 4-4 in 8 games not the one that can go 1-0 in 1.
-
...and if the Packers has the choice of one or the other for this year they’d pick Love all day long. All 32 teams would

If that happens the litigation that they will end up in will be infinitely more expensive than paying it out. That won’t happen.

Nashville game October 11 on sale now
Kirby Jackson replied to djp14150's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Or we could all agree that EVERYONE knows the situation. No one needs to come to TBD to learn about COVID-19. If you want to argue about what will happen take it to off the wall or PPP. The main board is to talk football. We may or may not be able to attend games. NONE of us know for sure so there’s no reason to argue about it here. -
Nashville game October 11 on sale now

My approach (not sure if it is right) was to book my flights for the games I’m (hopefully) going to. I will stay with my brother in Buffalo, waiting to try to book the Venetian for Vegas and have a friend that works for AJ Capital that owns the Thompson & Graduate in Nashville. He reserved a room for me at a rate. I don’t have tickets to either road game and am going with my brother to the opener. Basically, I’m trying to lock in as much as I can while things are as cheap as they will be. So far, I’ve spent $44 out of pocket for all of that. If we are unable to attend, I’ll get the miles and trace credits that I used back. I have no overhead for the Nashville or Buffalo at this point. Vegas will probably take some sort of deposit but that will be it. I’m not going to purchase the tickets until we get a lot closer. The prices won’t be that drastically different. Vegas is going to be brutally expensive but it’s going to be what it’s going to be. -
The prices didn’t seem too bad. Like $120ish upstairs, $200ish downstairs. We were here last year: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/bnash-renaissance-nashville-hotel/

I’m all for second chances when guys make mistakes. This is especially true for young guys. With that being said, he’s been out of the league for years. When last seen he was fat and out of shape. He felt entitled to that NFL job. Now maybe he’s been humbled and will do the things necessary to EARN that second chance. The next step there is this CFL contract. If he goes out and shows that he can play still an NFL team will welcome him back. The ball is in his court now.

Buffalo Bills Official 2020 Schedule
Kirby Jackson replied to Do The Reich Thing's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m the opposite. You don’t get to enjoy the good without surviving the bad. This holds especially true for the Bills who’ve long suffered. Our loyalty through those down years and heartbreak make us who we are. That’s why we are the greatest fan base in all of sports (and I believe that). No one rides with their team, good or bad, like we do. -
They just won’t refund you or give you a credit if the game isn’t played or no fans are allowed. That was the point. If people are concerned about that, as they should be, you need to buy from the team or a large reseller.

I have a flight but no tickets yet. I’m like @Virgil in that I fell in love with Nashville. I vowed to not miss a Bills game played there. It was so much fun last year. We play there again in 2021 too. -
Did you buy tickets yet? I booked my flight but didn’t get a room or tickets yet. The Venetian/Palazzo is my favorite and there wasn’t anything available. Vegas is so hit and miss for me. I’ve been 6 times, loved it twice, hated it twice and twice was indifferent. In my head, it will be IMPOSSIBLE, to not be fun for the Bills game.

That’s such a weak argument. We don’t know what will happen with Chase Young until he plays a game technically. He is WAY more likely to have double digit sacks than he is to have less than 5. I don’t need him to play a season to realize that. I can look at the skill set and project. It’s the EXACT same with the QBs. Again, we aren’t projecting them to be Patrick Mahomes. We are projecting them to be better than Chad Henne!! It’s not that the young guys can’t handle it on their own. They just want to make sure that they don’t ruin such a big investment by throwing him into a bad situation like the Bills did with EJ. I don’t think that he was ever going to be good but they did him no favors. If Rodgers went down tomorrow for 1 year the Packers would be way better off with Love than those teams with the scrub vets. It’s the opposite of what you’re saying in a lot of ways. I’ve seen enough of Matt Schaub to know that, at 39, he’s not dangerous. The rookies are all potentially dangerous. They will ABSOLUTELY make more plays than the scrub vets because they have more talent. In a scoring league, you need need your number 2 to be able to generate points still. The playmakers can do that.

Enjoy it!!!

[Vague Title] Worth a look in my book...
Kirby Jackson replied to Mij yllek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Saints are Belichick-level ruthless. Warford has been to the last 3 Pro Bowls (although this year on reputation). He was serviceable but BAD in the playoff game. They were like “yeah, this isn’t going to work” and drafted his replacement. -
I have and I have. I used it in Houston for the playoff game.
-
...and Love could have been a top 10 pick. They are definitely similar as prospects. Allen came in and played after 1 half of the season and held his own. He WOULD have been one of the best backups in the league if he wasn’t immediately a starter. There’s no way Love would be any worse than guys like Chad Henne, Hoyer, Chase Daniel, Colt McCoy, etc... Those guys have a history of mediocrity and no chance to be better. They have never been better than okay and don’t do anything physically, ANYTHING, better than Love (or Herbert or Tua or Hurts). That’s a weird hill to die on. If you want to argue that you’re better with one of those guys or as Schaub or any other low ranked QB go for it. There isn’t a team in the league that would rather have one of those guys than the rookies. Those rookies are all more capable today than those trash vets. The only vets worth $.10 on that list are Keenum, Brissett, Jameis and Dalton. You can have Mariota and Trubisky.
-
So was Josh Allen...
-
I don’t know when you look up and down that list there aren’t 4 guys with more ability then Love. He will also be stepping in on a team that won 13 games. He can’t fall much lower.
