  1. No sponsor was stepping in to fill the void left in this situation. That wouldn’t have benefited their brand. “Washington lost FedEx because they refused to change their racist name. We look forward to filling the void left by FedEx as we support the name Redskins.” The juice isn’t worth the squeeze and I know a little something about sponsorships.
  2. I think he would have shopped his services. Washington and Jacksonville could have entered the picture pretty easily. Playing chicken with your 26 year-old franchise QB isn’t exactly a good strategy.
  3. That’s not what would have happened if they “pulled the tag” as you suggested. He would have been a FA and could have went anywhere or sat out.
  4. Andy Dalton career winning percentage 52.6%. Dak Prescott career winning percentage 62.6%. Also, only one of them has a playoff win to his credit and it’s not the guy that is entering year 10.
  5. He would have just sat out the year and been a FA then. Do you think it’s wise for a team that 17:1 to win the Super Bowl to essentially have their franchise QB quit in late July?
  6. No offense but the Washington situation isn’t that complicated. Why did they buckle when the public didn’t care? They buckled because THEIR SPONSORS cared!! They were about to lose giant chunks of money and their minority owners. No one was stepping in after that. It was a financial decision.
  7. Dawkins was 14 OT (left and right) and Diggs 11 as well. The safeties are tomorrow. I’d expect Poyer to land in that top 15 somewhere.
  8. The Dak hate on here is kind of hilarious. We watched him play one game and formed an opinion. A lot of that hate stems from him playing in Dallas. We look so foolish in our criticism. He’s not elite. He’s a top 10ish QB right now. The cost for a young top 10 QB is approaching $40M a year. That’s just what it is. It’s time to accept that. We MAY be (hopefully) looking at a similar problem in a few months.
  9. Glad that you posted this because I was just coming here to post this article about the negotiations. It’s a really interesting read and one that we need to be mindful of if Josh continues to progress like Dak has. https://sports.yahoo.com/cowboys-blew-it-with-dak-prescott-in-2019-thats-why-theres-no-longterm-deal-now-and-why-he-may-exit-later-051415760.html
  10. Not to revisit but my entire point at the time was that I’d never keep a replacement level player over a guy with a massive ceiling. I felt the same way with Jason Peters and Mike Jasper. If it turns out that the guy can’t play you can find another replacement level player. I’ve always said that and always will.
  11. He was a replacement level player that averaged 29 catches and 382 yards a season. You can throw a rock and find that production (especially with Brady). That was always my assertion and I’m sticking by it. He’s Zay Jones.
  12. I’d rather a high upside, low floor guy didn’t end up in New England. They just did it with the QB. I’m fine when they add Hogan, Chandler or Gillislee because there is only so much impact that they can make. They are average talents that could easily be replaced by other average talents. Cam and Dareus are not that. It’s best if he doesn’t end up there.
  13. If you’ve ever heard any stories about the guy it’s not that low.
  14. This is the kind of thing that I was thinking. We have 2 5ths and 2 7ths next year at this point (no 4th). Maybe a 5th and 7th that can become a 6th? I would also consider one of those vet safeties potentially to compete for a roster position. If Poyer or Hyde goes down it would be nice to at least have that option. I think Jaquan Johnson will be the guy and Marlowe is okay too. I just like the idea of a really experienced vet back there in McDermott’s system. Reid, Jefferson and Jones are all still out there I believe.
  15. Carolina at least has some elite weapons. McCaffrey is the best weapon in the league and DJ Moore is coming off almost 1,200 yards with Kyle Allen at QB. He’s a legit number 1. Robby Anderson is a nice #2 and Samuel is incredibly explosive. It’s not the deepest group beyond them but the top is strong. I don’t take much issue with their ranking. They belong in the top 10 somewhere anyways. I agree though that a list like this will always be polarizing because it’s all opinion.
  16. I mean not really. I wish that I had so few problems that I could get bent out of shape about the 2% chance that my favorite football team changed their name. That’s just so far down the list of “things that will keep me up at night.”
  17. Go ahead and feel however you want. Just giving my opinion not telling anyone else what to think. My main concern is that the Bills stay in Buffalo. My 2nd main concern is that they play winning football. Everything else is a bonus.
  18. I didn’t say that I wanted it or expected it. Just said I’m not going to whine about it. As long as they stay in Buffalo I can deal with a name change. I don’t think it’s necessary or likely but there are a zillion other things that would be worse.
  19. I don’t see it getting to that point. Washington was a bit of an extreme. The Atlanta Braves aren’t changing their name as an example. If they do, so be it. I have a lot of stuff that will be obsolete (including the shirt that I have on now). As long as the “Buffalo” part doesn’t change I’ll manage. I don’t think that it’ll happen though.
  20. Counter: Engram has started 25 games in 3 years. He can’t stay healthy. Tate and Sheppard started 10 a piece and Slayton put up decent numbers because he was the only guy in the lineup worth $.10. The Cardinals, Lions and Chargers all belong ahead of them imo. They all clearly have a better top to the receiving depth chart (which is most important according to Barnwell). Their #2 WR is better in (or at least equal) in all cases. They have good backs (not as good as Saquon) but good. The Giants don’t belong in the top half of the league IMO.
  21. 8 feels about right but 7 for the Giants feels asinine to me. That one jumped out at me (and I’m a big Saquon fan).
  22. I don’t think that they want to have to deal with Dawkins and Milano after the year. Maybe one of them but not both. They can always use a tag if need be on one of them. The Tre contract has to come after this season too as you said. That’s going to be massive. I feel like 4 years and $60M for Dawkins would be numbers that both sides would be comfortable with.
  23. Would you rather have an OL of only ND guys or the field? The fact that it’s even in consideration is wild. Stanley, Martin and Nelson is a strong core.
  24. I’m fine with that deal. I think he’s a quality LT. He’s a top 10ish blind side protector. He’s going to have to stay healthy and play at the level of last year and not the year before. If he does it’s an okay deal.
