  1. The guy has started 83 games, is 29, and won a super bowl. That feels like a GREAT addition when you’re depending on AJ Klein, Tyler Matakevich and Vosean Joseaph. Today, Bradham is a better player than all of those guys. There’s absolutely ZERO reason to be opposed to him on a cheap deal.
  2. Fair enough, I used 680 in this case because they aren’t being forced to wait they are doubling up. Usually you value the following year down a round because you are making the decision to wait on the asset (ie this year’s 2nd for next year’s first). In this case the Jets are getting both.
  3. ...and from Seattle’s perspective, “we were 11-5 last year and have a chance to get a top 5 defensive player in all of football at a position If need.” It’s a win-win
  4. Certainly but he is the leader of that group. He’s as important to them for his leadership as his player. He’s the most important defensive player on that team. They had Ford prior to Clark. they had pass rush. Alex Okafor is a decent role player. He only played 1/2 of the year. Thornhill certainly was a surprise. The point being the defense went from below average to good and Mathieu’s presence is the biggest reason why. There have already been rumblings if extending him after just a year there.
  5. Guys often get traded on their rookie contracts. The teams deal them BEFORE having to make the financial commitment. If they’ve already paid them they carry a bunch of dead money as well. This is very common. If you use 27 as the example (where Seattle picked this year) the value of all of the picks combined is the 8th pick.
  6. This is the exact point!! Put it a different way to bring it around to the Bills. I think most of us would agree that an offensive tackle is the biggest need on the Bills right now. Maybe some people would say TE. If the Bills could trade 2 1sts right now for George Kittle should they do it? Ronnie Stanley? Lane Johnson? It just isn’t a position that we are accustomed to being in so we overrate draft picks. If your super bowl window is open, and you have a chance to get a superstar to plug your biggest need, you don‘t worry about draft picks in the 20’s.
  7. The Chiefs signed Mathieu to a 3 year $42M deal last year and went from good team to Super Bowl Champ. It depends on the situation that your team is in and that is what we are underrating here. This trade elevates the Seahawks to one of the favorites. The goal is to win titles. When your window is open and you have a chance to get one of the best players in football you need to do it. Also, we need to stop looking at this as “a safety.” Adams is a chess piece. In his career he’s played 41% of his snaps at safety, 39% at OLB, 12% at slot corner, 5% outside corner and 3% at ILB. That’s WHY he’s so valuable. When ESPN did the rankings a few weeks back (which is where this info is from) an NFC exec said that he’s the 2nd best defensive player in football behind Donald. Adding that type of player to a Super Bowl contender is never a mistake. It’s just expensive.
  8. Perfect addition....the EXACT spot that they could use a guy, he fills that spot
  9. He’s able to be negotiated with now
  10. I don’t disagree there. The top of their depth chart is good. Their depth isn’t even okay. That changes drastically though if they add AB and he’s semi-coherent (which is unlikely).
  11. No one said you’re paying your CB like your QB. You are paying him as a better version of Darius Slay, Byron Jones and Xavier Howard. Those are the 3 highest paid CBs and 2 of them signed this year. If you’re Tre’s agent do you think it’s reasonable to take less than Byron Jones? Put them side-by-side and it’s not all that close. That’s the way that it works in the NFL. You get paid based on comparable players at your position and the timing of your deal. Tre will certainly not take less than $17m a year. The Honey Badger certainly elevates KC from “really good team” to Super Bowl champ. Their entire defense was better once they added him.
  12. So you don’t think this elevates them? That’s where we disagree. I think they went from a team that could win to one of the favorites. I think that they are as good as anyone in the NFC now.
  13. He was one of 2 1st team all-pro CBs. Right now the LEAGUE values him like that. Surely, his own team feels the same way. We aren’t used to having superstars but we have one. We just learned a valuable lesson on how to treat your superstars. I’d be absolutely shocked if Tre signs a contract less than highest paid CB ever. Totally shocked
  14. A legit super bowl contender? No matter how you try to spin it this is a good deal for both teams. The Seahawks were 11-5 and just got one of the top 5 defensive players in football. Based on where they picked this year they did it for the equivalent of the 8th pick in the draft. That’s the price for superstars and Adams is that. Tre isn’t going to whine when he becomes the highest paid CB ever. He’s not going to whine when the next guy gets a little more. That’s the way the business goes. Everyone knows that!! You want to get your big payday but don’t begrudge the next guy. You never hear that. If you do please provide some examples and I’ll show dozens of highly compensated guys congratulating the next one. Tre is a much better player and will get more in any scenario. I’m more worried about Humphrey. Top 1 money. He’s not re-signing until he resets the market. He was a 1st team all-pro and the other 1st team all-pro has been under contract for a while. The expectation isn’t “a good contract” it’s “the highest paid CB ever.” The Bills know this and will get it done.
  15. Naw, he’s going to be the highest paid CB in the league by a significant margin. He will be okay once that happens.
  16. His value wasn’t going down because he didn’t like Adam Gase!! Come on Weo. The Jets may have gotten less back in a trade for him but who knows based on this return. I’d say that EVERYONE knows he wasn’t happy in NY and he still brought in 2 1sts. He’s going to end up as the highest paid safety in the league by a LOT. His value wasn’t going anywhere and he knew it. That’s why he forced his way out.
  17. They picked 27 last year and added Adams. They were 11-5 last year. The team that picked 16 was 7-9. I’m not sure it’s reasonable to expect a 4 game regression after adding Adams. That sounds wishful thinking.
  18. Based on the draft value chart if you combine all of the picks that Seattle gave up it is about the equivalent of the 8th overall pick (assuming they pick where they did this year). If you drafted Jamal Adams at 8 overall you’d pop champagne.
  19. Maybe Mathieu moves the needle in KC. In today’s “hybrid” NFL (and NBA) versatility is king. It allows teams to give multiple looks without having to go to small or big. It used to be “you do this” or “you do that“ and teams could adjust based on who was out there. Adams can play in the box as a high end LB or in coverage as a high end safety. He’s not “in the box” or “ballhawk.” He’s both. Versatility is king in 2020. On a side note that’s one of the most underrated aspects of the Bills D. Hyde and Poyer are completely interchangeable.
  20. Metcalf and Lockett combined for right around 2,000 yards and 17 TDs. I don’t think Seattle is even a little concerned about their weapons if that’s what you are implying. If not, I apologize for missing the point.
  21. He’s elite, the best safety in football. He’s good in coverage and in the box. You can build your entire defense around him. He gave up 4.5 yards per target and had 47 QB pressures. Adams is different. He’s not getting nearly enough credit on here for how good he really is. The Jets obviously got a big return but that’s the cost for a superstar.
  22. I’m surprised at how many people think Seattle got ripped off. Adams is one of the best players in football. Seattle is likely picking late in round 1. They gave up a decent amount but it’s not like it’s a disaster for a team with an open Super Bowl window. It’s a good deal for both teams. If this exact Bills team was without Hyde or Poyer (as an example) I would have had no issue giving that up for Adams. You’d be getting one of the best players in football for the equivalent of like the 8th or 10th pick in the draft (whatever they point value will be). I’d do that in a heartbeat.
  23. How about we call it “Washington Football Team”
  24. Congrats on your Kevin White grade Gunner. I’m never listening to anything that you have to say ever again ?
  25. Antonio Brown is the Kanye West of football
