Anything Donald Jennnifer is involved with looks like a bunch of 13-year-old girls gossiping. -

Rookie Rankings: Daniel Jeremiah NFL Media Analyst
Buftex replied to RyanC883's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a similar rankings list on ESPN...they gave Oliver and Singletary the "also receiving votes" category , but they didn't make their "top 10 rookies". No showing at all for D Knox! -
I won in week one with the Texans kicker...I needed 2.5 points to win, and he got me 4 pts (via 4 extra points)....it has been all down-hill since...Baker Mayfield has been a stiff, I have one decent every week start receiver (Amari Cooper), and my #1 pick Saqon Barkley is out 4-6 weeks. I go into tonights Monday Night game, needing 44 points from David Montgomery for a win...most likely will be 1-2 and sliding down fast. My worst start in a while...

I have been living and dying with this team since 1972. I have seen a lot more bad years than good...I want them to win, as much as anyone... but at this point, I just try to take it one game at a time...enjoy the wins when we get them, and try not to get too down when they lose...it wasn't always that way. I don't accept losing, I just accept that I have no control over it, so just pray for the best, and enjoy the hell out the ebbs and flows of the season. I think this years 3-0 team is better than the 2011 3-0 team...but I am mindful that I probably thought that team was going to go far too. I used to soak up every article, every bit of NFL coverage I could find...now I just try to enjoy Sundays (win or lose) and enjoy hanging out with like-minded friends, and drinking a few pops. I got nothing against Schop & Bulldog (I may be one of the few who actually like Schop), but you couldn't have worst hosts for the post-game show. They take no joy in anything...it is just a drag to listen to. I don't mind criticism, and I don't mind a little "rah-rah"...but for christ sake, a win is a win...our culture just oversaturates us with everything... too much of anything, even the things we love, is not necessarily a good thing. This instant need to quantify the level of a win, or loss, is just a miserable way to experience the season...

Believe it or not, my brother in-law passed away this past spring. I was asked to make about 3 hours of music to play at his viewing. The last song I put on the mix was "Goodnight" because he (also a big Beatles fan) had mentioned it as one of his favorite Beatles "deep cuts". When it played, my older sister (perhaps the biggest Beatles fanatic I had ever known when we were growing up) said, "Oh my god, I almost forgot about this song...I probably haven't heard it in 30 years". Another sister insisted it wasn't the Beatles said she had never heard it before (I know she has!)... sad the way the memory goes!

Yeah, likewise, but I kinda like Maxwell too... it fits in as part of the bigger piece...Yellow Submarine is probably the first pop record that most of us heard, if we were born in the mid to late 60's. Hell, I remember having a Yellow Subamrine read-along book when I was a tyke.. one of the very first books I was ever exposed to.

Though I don't hate the song, if I never heard "Yellow Submarine" again, I would be okay with that.

Musical Reunions You Would Like to See
Buftex replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I would love to see the Faces reunion (Rod, Woody and Jones re-united for a charity show the other night in the UK), but I am just not sure it would be the same without McLagan and Lane... -
No, our league is tough. About 7 of the 12 people in the league are pretty savvy players...most play in multiple big-money leagues...not much slips by them on the waiver wire. Hardeman is gone. I had the first pick (not my favorite place to draft), and consequently, beyond S. Barkley, Amari Cooper and the Bills defense, my roster is full of potential, but not a lot of proven players. I won by 1.5 points in week one, and got smoked by about 60 in week 2. Oh well...managing the roster and trying to get into the playoffs where all the "fun" in Fantasy Football comes in, I suppose! BTW- I proposed Mayfield/Kirk for Woods/Freeman and have had no response... so it probably won't work out anyway.
-
Yeah, provided he stays healthy, I am not sure Garappolo is a huge drop-off from Mayfield. What I really want is a WR that I know I can plug in every week who is going to give me some production...most of the WR I have now are "all or nothing" . Yeah...can only try!
-
This is a great insight...
-
I have a deficiency at WR (Amari Cooper and Sammy Watkins are my best guys). I am thinking of proposing the following trade to a team that just lost Roethlisberger, and has no other QB: I would give up Baker Mayfield (I have Garoppolo as a back up) and Christian Kirk I would get: Robert Woods and either Peyton Barber or Royce Freeman

I gotta wonder though, after that opening drive where Barklay tore them up, it seemed that the Giants abandoned the running game, more than the Bills shut it down...terrible play calling on their part, seemed to me.

I have never had the Sunday Ticket, but if it is anything like the NHL Game Center, you wouldn't be able to access it if somebody else is logged in to it. I subscribe to the Sabres package, and shared my password with a friend (I justify it by the fact that the Sabres are so hard to watch most of the time, I am probably only watching about 20-25 games a year), and we never had an issue, until that winning streak last year...if one of us was watching, the other could not access.

I hate Pro Football Focus. Hate it!

I have been obsessed with this album since it came out a few months ago. I described it to my friend as a "really beautiful, and funny suicide note". The next day, David Berman offed himself... it is really an amazing record. Really fine songwriting...better than anything he ever did with Silver Jews.

I hate the Dolphins, so admittedly, I don't know all the intricacy of their roster....but I thought they were in the process of tearing it down and re-building. They traded for Rosen....would't keeping Kenny Stills for him to throw to, benefit them a lot more, in the long-run, than trading for Clowney?

Listen to Bills games via internet radio?
Buftex replied to streetkings01's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The "kids" want all the things that their parents had...they are buying records, not CD's....and they have revived the cassette industry. Kids (a term I use, at 54 to describe anyone from 12-30) are really in to making mixed tapes. They don't seem to bat an eye at paying $25 or $30 for brand new copies of "Rumors", "Eagles Greatest Hits", Led Zeppelin III. The stuff they heard their parents play. It many sound silly, but I think "Guardians of the Galaxy" was a big factor. We got a "jam-box" with a double cassette deck, and radio too..in less PC days we called them ghetto blasters. They are pretty terrible brands, but the fact that they are making them tells me there is a niche out there...and it is only a matter of time before better electronic brand names start to take notice. There seems to be a growing number of younger people who are rejecting the digital down-load. Lables are staring to put out pre-recorded cassettes again. Cassettes have their draw-backs, but for an older guy like me, cassettes were the most personal way of listening to music...being able to make your own mixes...your own artwork...I have about 60 comps that I, or friends of mine made, back in the 80s...we put so much time and thought into them. -
