  1. I am with you...I love everything about baseball, except the game itself...unless I am seeing a game live. I actually like to have it on, in the background, on the radio...but I rarely sit and just watch a game on tv, as I do with the NFL, NHL and NBA. Incidentally, I am going to be in Seattle next week, my first time there. Was thinking of taking my nephew to an Indians/Mariners game on Friday....anyone ever been to a game at Safeco? Is it a good ballpark?
  2. Gerbe has been great, but if I was buying a Sabres jersey (which I never have) right now, I would lean toward Vanek or Sekera. I love the way both of these guys play.
  3. I really don't dis-like Ryan Miller, but I can't say the prospect of Enroth playing again this weekend scares me! http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6280442
  4. Really? No particular reason?
  5. Wow...is that what you did? Man, you got us...good one! If you had started this on April 1st, no way I would have fallen for it!!
  6. Give them a chance...fun team to watch. I am not guranteeing they won't be flat now and again...but when they play with discipline they are very good. Looking at the standings, I am not sure what our best mathchup would be for the first round of the playoffs...Boston kind of scares me. We have not played the Penguins well, but, I think we are on our game now, and could handle them. I also think we would have a good shot against Philly or Washington.
  7. Nah...if the C's don't make it, I likely won't even watch the finals.
  8. Awesome...great news. Still though, it doesn't mention when the 5th season would start...I don't know what their shooting schedule is like, but it would seem...I wonder if we get some "Mad Men" in 2011.
  9. What on earth to Michelle Obama's looks have to do with anything? You discredit any argument you are trying to make...core values? And what truth are you talking about? It's an ideal...the elected officials under the Tea Party umbrella are the ones who will determine if it is truth? In case you missed this...it was all the rage a few months ago...it isn't far from the truth...
  10. Thanks for the history lesson! Maybe you should coach up Michelle Bachman on history! So, you can't see the problem that I would have (because I am not affiliating myself with the Tea Party movement) separating ideas like the one you apparently don't think is important ("we believe it is possible to know the original intent of the government that our founding fathers.......") with then taking that principle and deciding what is fiscally responsible? No offense, because, I have to tell you, when the "Tea Party" movement first began, I was very curious about it. I think, if we were all honest with ourselves, we would be thrilled with the idea of a legitimate 3rd political party. But, 3 years later, I haven't heard anything but rhetoric...Tea Party candidates have made some impressive in-roads, but, have, so far, only disappointed the people who elected them. I know as someone who has assisted in writing a few mission statements in my time, they aren't worth the time put into them, when the people who write them go back to their offices and ignore them.
  11. I really think you are smart!
  12. I have no problem with it as a mission statement. It plainly states where the Tea Party (is it a movement or a party?) stands on some fundamental issues. I have already said I have some problems with the content, but that wasn't to your liking. Apparently that is "so liberal" (or whatever you would call it).
  13. Even smarter of you to include it!
  14. I said, as a mission statement I have no problem with it. So, I have to agree with everything in it? Okay in that case, I vote "nyet"! I hate it! What exactly is your point? You appear to be beaming with pride, because your party/movement finally has a few coherent sentences strung together to serve as its reason for being. Great! Go team!
  15. Some of the best stuff on the show....even in the Baccala years!
  16. Key word... Eh...it is full of pretty, flowery words, like all mission statements. It serves it's purpose, I suppose. I do find this a little troubling: "We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. "
  17. But I guarantee you, nowhere in the Republican or Democratic mission statements does it say "we will try to retain power for power's sake". What the mission statement says isn't as important as what is actually done.
  18. Yes, I thought all of the seasons of The Sopranos were outstanding. I am glad that David Chase never succumbed to dumb the show down for the masses...AMC is apparently tyring to do this with "Mad Men".
  19. Exactly...so stop pretending that the Tea Party movement is somehow more noble than any other political philosophy. It is as weak as the people who adhere to it, and those who (it seems) serve as its' spokespeople.
  20. And you wonder why the Tea Party is so easy to discredit.
  21. You set a great tone... Can we assume you identify with the Tea Party movement?
  22. Well, they have been playing very well since January, and, I would argue, Miller has not really carried them by any means, this season. They have been getting scoring, in the second half of the season, from all over the line-up, Thomas Vanek has become a very great, if not elite, player, night in night out. Tyler Meyer has rebounded from an awful start, and now, in only his second season, has become oue most solid defensemen, the fact that he can move with the puck, and can shoot doesn't hurt one bit. Andrej Sekera has been an all-hustle guy, and Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis are showing to be very promising young guys, who have been delivering in the crunch. Drew Stafford has been scoring timely goals, and isn't afraid to mix it up. The Sabres aren't letting themselves get pushed around like they might have in the past. I want Miller to come back, but I don't think having Jonas Enroth between the pipes is a huge drop-off...we may have the next Edwards/Sauve tandem available for a nice playoff run. I don't know how you couldn't like the way they have been playing for the last 3 months. Did you watch last nights' game? That was as fine a defensive effort as you are likely to see, against a good, vetran team in the Rangers. Now, I am not saying they are going to win the cup, but I fully expect them to give whoever they face in the first round of the playoffs, a very good fight, and I won't be shocked to see them knock off one of the to 4 seeds. They are playing smart, disciplined hockey, avoiding stupid penalties for the most part, and, to me, appear to be a team that is finally starting to grow up. It's a long season, no team dominates from start to finish
  23. Highlights from last nights game...great shot by Connolly...the dude is such a tease...just when you write him off, he starts producing... http://www.nhl.com/
