The only thing about that, like I mentioned in a previous post, in a 15 game division, with no divisions, you would have too many teams eliminated from contention (or at perceived to be eliminated) too early, and, it would also eliminate a lot of the rivalries...I think rivalries are probably a bigger deal in hockey, than any pro sport, at this point.

Possible Sabres trade in the works...we get Robyn Regehr, big, gritty, tough, team leader type D-man from Calgary...no word on what the Sabres will give up. We definitely need a vetran blue-liner, IMO. This would be a nice pick-up, for the Sabres...a good mentor for Tyler Meyers...Regehr was apparently listed by Meyers as his favorite player, coming into the NHL. Maybe a first step in extending Meyers to keep him in "hockey heaven" for many years? Regehr has lots of experience, playoffs, finals...only 31. It may sound old, but some of the best defensemen are in their 30's. I like it! TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=369789 More exciting, to me, than the rumor that Satan is coming back!

Yeah, I don't get that either. But, that is what the article says. My only guess, they don't want to have too many teams looking like they are "out of it" by January.

Also, looks like Gary Bettman is proposing a league re-alignment. Columbus and Detroit move to the Eastern Conference, while Winnipeg (formerly eastern Atlanta) moves to the Western Conference. That makes sense I guess. Where it gets a little "controversial" (for lack of a better word), is each conference would be made up of two divisions (Pacific, Midwest, East and South), top 4 teams from each division make the playoffs. As there are only 30 teams, one division in each conference would have 7 teams, while the other would have 8. http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2011-06-23/report-gary-bettman-proposes-major-nhl-realignment-winnipeg-detroit-red-wings?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl14%7Csec3_lnk2%7C72537 I presume the Sabres would be in the East division, with the Rangers, Islanders, Maple Leafs, Bruins,Devils, Flyers, Senators, and Canadians? Not sure how I feel about that...I suppose it might ensure that stronger teams make it to the playoffs. That would be a good thing.

NYS vote on Gay 'Marriage' tonight

Actually, when I use it for a certain poster, I mean that he of a different race, as in not human, so the term racist can still apply, even by your logic. -
Is Tyler Palko still out there? I thought he was going to be the next Tom Brady story.. Other than the fact that he might bring his hot wife to Buffalo, I wouldn't want Brody Croyle...he is awful. Almost a combo of the very worst of Losman and Edwards. I think Chan must know that too.

You really are a POS! I see only one (ok, maybe 2 or 3 other) "intellectual poseurs" around here...and you are one of them. Simply saying you are not something, doesn't prove anything to me. I have a brother who is just an out and racist, and makes no bones about it. I put up with listening to his bs for years, and finally, just said, "enough". I am not going to accept it, or listen to it anymore. So now, I rarely talk to him. I put you on the same list as my brother... this has nothing to do with left or right politics, just human decency. You don't have it. And, you are full of ****. Take your self-loving nonsense, and enjoy yourself... -

New LA Team could come Thru Buffalo
Buftex replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whether an NFL team was located in San Antonio or Austin, with competition from the Cowboys and Texans, I still think the area would support an NFL team. I hope to god that team isn't the Bills. There is lots of big money in Texas...and interest in football never wanes...high school football playoffs might give teams like Jacksonville a run for their money! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ramifications of the new CBA for the Bills: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/743924-2011-buffalo-bills-ramifications-of-the-new-collective-bargaining-agreement Not the best written article (slide show, it is the Bleacher Report after all!) but it raises some interesting issues that the Bills could face, as well as some of the new CBA stuff (16 game Thursday night schedule?) -

Arrogant? Maybe...but I have been around here long enough to remember some of your earlier, more repulsive posts, where you weren't trying so hard to impress your circle-jerk friends...just posting a bunch of racist bull ****...why not just speak with your real voice, !@#$. -

This is hilarious...the "writer" in this interview could just as well be the writers for "The Killing"...substitue "Fast Five" with "The Killing" -
AMC Picks up second season of The Killing
Buftex replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can go with the flow...I love "Treme", "The Sopranos", etc...shows which took their time telling a story, sometimes meander....but "The Killing" is just horrible writing. Virtually every turn it took turned out to be a red herring, right up until the awful, pathetic, ending. So, the second to last episode had a kind of cool ending (Linder discovers that Richmond is Orpheus by his email ringing)...but, since you, as a viewer, have already been down this road at least a dozen times with this show, you know, in the end...it is not going to pan out to be anything. The show was bad enough, but that final 10 minutes (from Richmonds' arresst at his "winner" press conference, Holder's "they fell for it", Richmond's assasination? and the last second phone call to Linder) was possibly the worst thing I have seen on a "good" show in a long, long time. To me, any other show I liked, I would be tempted to watch it again...why would you ever wast a minute watching this drek again? You know that virtually everything you are watching is pointless. And to top it off, after 13 days into a murder investigation, the detectives on the case finally check the vehicle mileage? Linder and Holden (I liked the actors) have got to be the most inept homicide detectives ever portrayed on television. -
We differ there...not that I thin EA is bad looking, but she doesn't do much for me...she is just kind of a "generic gorgeous" to me. Beadle, on the other hand, may not be gorgeous, but it is a combo of personality and her looks that do it for me...if they could pry her away from Colin Cowherd, I would watch her a whole lot more.

New LA Team could come Thru Buffalo
Buftex replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe it is the combo of big city/warm weather? Big cities like New York, Chicago and Washington don't have a problem drawing NFL fans, whether the team is good or bad. -
New LA Team could come Thru Buffalo
Buftex replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fully believed that, until recently. I also beleive that Ralph will not move the team to Los Angeles. Where they move to is of little importance to me...if they leave, so long... I guess I have less confidence than you, that the team will remain in Buffalo a lot longer. Maybe I am too pessimistic, but it seems like this new CBA (at least what is rumored so far) is a sign that the values of the old school NFL owners are not necessarily the same as the newer breed of owners. Isn't the Bills lease up after the 2012 season? Given the economic climate in WNY, that will be telling. Doesn't it seem that, eventually, the stadium the Bills play in will become a bigger issue for the other owners? The shrinking population? -

True, but that doesn't make me feel any better about the sitution. I am sure fans of those teams are sweating it out too. -
New LA Team could come Thru Buffalo
Buftex replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It isn't so much the Sullivan quote, or even the linked article...it is coming from the news, out of the CBA negotiations...turn on ESPN radio for updates. They are getting closer to a deal, that is not favorable to small market teams...it only takes 24 of 32 owners to approve...a few nay-sayers (presumably Mr Wilson and Mike Brown in Cincinnati)...so, it appears, we will have our football back sooner than later, but at what price, for us? -

I wouldn't place too much faith in Goodell...he does not impress me at all, and seems, more than anything, like a businessman...there won't be a lot of room for loyalty. He isn't bigger than the league. Also, btw, I believe he grew up a NY Giants fan, from what I recall. Of course, everyone is a Bills fan, when they are talking to Bills fans. One thing Buffalo has in its' favor, is its' stadium deal. At least for now. But, even there, as much as I love Rich stadium (or "the Ralph" if we must!), its' only a matter of time before that facility is seen as a liability. Sure, we have the close proximity to Toronto in our favor, but think about it. Why not, from a dollar and sense point of view, just move the franchise to Toronto, and hope you hold on to some Bills fans in Buffalo...what you lose in Buffalonian, they will think, they can make up for in Canadian fans. Oh well...no more on this topic for me...my pessimism always gets the best of me, when it comes to this suject, I admit. I love this team, and I love Buffalo...it hurts too much to think about it. Like someone else said, enjoy while we can, for as long as we can...winning would really help... -
New LA Team could come Thru Buffalo
Buftex replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is all true. But a city, like Austin, where I live, at this point, would be a more profitable place to run an NFL franchsie than Buffalo. It is growing by leaps and bounds (while Buffalo contnues to shrink) is an hour from San Antonio...and I am sure there are more cities like it. Population is shifting... -

No argument from me. You will not find someone who hates Cowherd more than me. But, it is hard to ignore the message...it isn't just coming from him. Green Bay is the exception to every rule, for the NFL. They are a national team, as much as a local team. The Bills, are not at that level. Don't forget, the Saints, more than likely, were saved, for New Orleans, by Katrina. Winning a Super Bowl gave them more life. Unless that city has an unprecdented re-birth, it won't be long before they, too, are considered extinct in New Orleans.
