VCR alert: KC Chiefs @Buffalo Bills 1993 AFC Championship
Buftex replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My mistake. I heard it referred to, on the radio, as Montana's last game, and assumed it was true. But you are correct. Yeah, I understand, everyone is not fond of reminiscing. That is legit. But I am always a sentimental old fool, when it comes to the Bills. It is all one long story. -
If anyone is interested: The NFL Network will air the 1993 AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and Bills, today (Friday- 1/22) at 3pm eastern. Not only is it the last AFC Championship game the Bills were in, it was one of Thurman Thomas' finest games. Some good time-killing content, before Sunday! Also, the excellent "Four Falls of Buffalo" will air at 1am (Saturday 1/24).

Yes, Schragers' "love" of the Bills is less than authentic. I think it is the same with a lot of these media guys. I have heard a few opine (Shcrager included) that Bills fans are a tad sensitive to criticism of their team, more so than most fan bases. They always make "jokes" about not wanting Bills fans to "come after them" or "blow-up" their twitter feeds. I think he probably has a legit fear. Ultimately, who cares? Who cares what these people think? Sure, it is fun to hear football discussion, but what any of them think about our chances of winning is irrelevant to what happens on the field.

I was never a fan....but good luck to him.

Honestly, the "we don't get any respect", or "enough credit" thing is nearly annoying as what it is calling out. There may be a kernal of truth to it at times...but stay humble, as Mc Dermot preaches. This incessant need to immediately analyze and quantify the quality of a victory or performance, or player...or to rank things historically or contemporarily is really a bad thing that is happening to sports.

Sure, it might have been more satifying to beat them 51-3, but that was an intensely entertaining football game, in my book. Defense played their asses off, beat a team they weren't supposed to beat, and the offense did what it had to. They opening TD in the second half was incredible...not only netted them a TD, but took a lot of time off the clock. It was reminiscent of the Steelers game earlier this year. This wasn't the Jets or Jaguars we were playing...

‘Did You Know’ thread about the Bills

Did you know that Joe Paterno wanted Jim Kelly to play linebacker at Penn State? -
Josh Allen highest AV for QBs in 2020 and 2nd highest in NFL
Buftex replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe so, but if, say, we still had Tyrod at QB, I am not sure they would have paid the price they did for Diggs...more likely they would used the draft picks they traded for him, to get a potential "stud". They wanted somebody who was proven at the NFL level, because they had the notion that Josh was ready to take that next step, and didn't want a limited receiving corp to be the thing that held him back. Beane pretty much said as much. They loved what they got from Brown and Beasley, but knew they needed that other guy. -
Don't watch GMF this morning.......it'll frustrate you!

No big whoop! The Bills were the national darlings until Saturday....now it is the Browns and the Ravens. Who cares? -

But, they traded for Diggs, because they had a pretty good idea that they had a good young QB who needed WR help. If they didn't have Allen, they weren't giving up what they did for Diggs. -
You guys remember this? Kiper/ McShay
Buftex replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easy to take shots at Kiper, but McShay is nothing but a Kiper wanna-be. Can't stand McShay. -
All of what Simms says is pretty much true...including the fact that we have Josh Allen. Take the best player off of any team, and they will have a tough time. I really think you can't discount how much bad field position contributed to our struggle (to win, let's not forget) against the Colts. Particularly in the first half. We know we don't have a great running game. That hurts us a lot deep in our own end of the field. And, it is all connected...it hurts our defense when the Colts always have good field position. Getting off to a good start on offense is imperative in the playoffs.

It is always awful when you spend a ton of money to go see your team on the road, only to see them not compete. It has happened to me a few times over the years (never wasting money on going to see the Sabres play in Texas again)...so glad I wasn't at the game you are referencing. I know it isn't the same, but I one time paid a fortune for a Bills ticket (about $250) for a game in Dallas. It was in 2011. I live about 3.50 hours away. All my friends who were going went the day before...I had to work on Saturday evening, until 11:30pm. So, I went home, got a few hours of sleep, and then drove to the game...met my friends...the game was over practically before I found my seat. I don't know if I was embarassed....but I was pissed. We lost 42-7, or something like that...

Not for nothing, but there is an article in yesterday's Buffalo News (sorry can't link it) "Matt Milano's Versatility Shines Against the Colts"

Just say no to all-reds!

Didn't Tirico say that he would be in Bufffal next week, during the Bills/Colts game? By "we" he may have meant NBC.

I have to admit, I did not mentally prepare for the Bils to lose today. I knew they would win....I thought it would be a blowout. I watched the game with my housemates (a Bears fan, and a front runner)..all of us rooted for the Bills (me the hardest, obviously), and after three football games, they all thought the Bills/Colts game was the most entertaining. You know what...they were right. And you are right. We played a pretty good team today, they gave us a good test, and we passed. Hopefully this close call will give them the same shot in the arm the rest of the way that the loss to the Cardinals did. I must say, I was probably more disappointed by a pretty vocal part of the fanbase whose biggest takeaway was "bad playcalling" by Daboll, than I was by the teams performance. Came here after the game, and turned on the post game radio show...it was constant. It is kind of a bummer. I know the years of losing causes scar tissue to build up...but come on! The Bills just won a freaking playoff game for the first time in 25 years! Who cares about style point? Just enjoy this to the max...we will have a long offseason to place blame..

Two Cheers for the Deep State and Elitism
Buftex replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The sad thing is, the Trump cult has zero ability to see themeselves. I feel sorry for them...they have lost their collective minds. Those poor fools who lost their lives for this foolishness are mentally ill.
