Am I crazy, or was Clowney on the Bills roster (or at least training camp roster) a few years ago, for a week or two? How many Clowneys can there be? Also, isn't Roscoe a FA this off-season too? Maybe giving Clowney, a speedster, a chance to take Roscoe's spot? Hopefully Clowney has better hands than Parrish...and can stay healthy for two consecutive games... Either way, hopeufully, this is Buddy's one last gift to the Bills...make room for Whaley!

Which Republican candidate do the Bills most resemble?

Why are you linking a picture of Marilyn Manson? Like most of the Republican candidates, they do great, until you hear what they have to say. -
Buddy Nix to retire after 2012 draft?

Report: Indy Colts' short list for new GM includes ...
Buftex replied to merlin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, I am not sure...I assume they were, just as I am assuming Manning would be considered close to Irsay. From the short statement that Irsay made about Polians' dismissal, it kind of sounded, to me anyways, that they were at odds about something...I would assume it would be, what to do with Manning. Irsay said something to the effect of "we will do whatever it takes to make this team competitive for years to come"...that implies (only implies) to me that they are set on taking Luck. I could see Polian (again, me just speculating) seeing the trading of Manning as a potential blockbuster for the franchise...maybe Irsay doesn't want to see Manning go? Also, I have heard more than once this season, that Chris Polian is not ready to be a GM. -

PTR, heard Mortenson, IIRC (or perhaps Schefter) kind of say the same thing...Indy owner was kind of feeling like Polian was getting a little "too comfortable" as king of the castle, wasn't particularly pleasent toward the owner. Whoever it was, (Mort or Schefter) kind of compared the situation to Bowlan and Shannahan in Denver...the team was kind of bottoming out, and the owner just said "okay, I want my team back". Also heard tha Polian was saying things to the media, about Manning, that weren't true...issues such as failing a physical, and talking with Manning about how he would feel about the Colts drafting Luck...Payton denies that he took a physical, and is confident he would pass one (fwiw), and also says he and Polian never spoke about drafting Luck, or any other QB for that matter. I am not clear as to whether Polian was leaing toward keeping, or letting Manning go. I suppose, at 2-14, with the first pick in the draft, it would be as good a time as there would be, to make a change. -

Hearing that the Bears are targeting Bill Polian as their new GM. Will be interesting, as whoever takes that job will have to be committed to Lovie Smith as their coach, for at least a season. -
97 Rock Will No Longer Carry Bills Games
Buftex replied to LancasterSteve's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I agree with all of this. Bills fans who blast GR55 for giving too much air time to the Sabres, while showing no consideration of the Bills are pretty off base. They talk about the Bills plenty...now, people may not appeciate all the personalities they have, but I suspect there will be some changes in that area. They will almost certainly add more Bills programming. What I like about this, we will most likely have more local programming, as they will be covering both pro sports teams...if they can figure out any way to cut Colin Cowherd, or at leas cut down on him, it will be a positive. I wouldn't be surprised if they add Chris Brown for a Bills specific show. -
The new NFL is a passing league
Buftex replied to Picnic Table F'er's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cringe away then...the Bills should have run the ball more this year. You have to complete passes to move the ball...and the completions can't be for 2-5 yards all the time. I have no problem with passing the ball a lot, when it is working...when the passing game isn't getting it done, and you have a running back who is gaining nice yardage, you have to run the ball then...and then, maybe, the passing game has some breathing room. I think Gailey's attachment to his passing fancy, when his running game was firing on most cylandars, cost the Bills legit chances to win the Titans and the second Miami game. -
Could Wannstedt Make a Play at Chan's Job in 2013?

An interesting theory, but I wouldn't give it any credence. Marv may have been a terrible GM, and he may have fancied a return to coaching, but if he were really that ambitious and sneaky, he likely would have interfered with Jauron a lot more than he ever did. By all accounts, Marv never had any problems with Jauron, and never made any waves for him. I know it is a different sport, and different times...but if you are old enough to remember (maybe not) Scotty Bowman being promoted the GM position of the Sabres in the mid 80's, and hiring Jim Schoenfeld as "his" coach. It was clear to anyone who followed the Sabres at the time, Schoenfeld was fired just as soon as the GM was ready to coach again. Bowman never gave Schoenfeld the respect that a head coach should have, from his GM. Schoney lasted about half a season, and was fired when his team was .500. There was none of that with Marv. And, as bad as the GM position was served when Marv held it, I give him the ultimate respect for stepping down when he did, knowing that he was in over his head. -
Does anyone own season tickets that live outside WNY?
Buftex replied to tito1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My buddy lives in NYC, and had no problem selling his tickets, prior to the last few home games. I got the Bronco game tickets! I am almost tempted to buy seasons, just to support the team...they are so unbelievably cheap compared to other teams. I went to see the Bills game against the Giants, in Jersey earlier in the year. I had almost exactly the same seats in Jersey as I did for the Bills/Broncos game at the Ralph. In fact, the Bills tickets were just a tad better... face value for the Giants ticket:$350...face value for the Bills: $90.00 -

Actually, Mularkey was the head coach in 2004, when Losman was drafted. Also, Mularkey wasn't fired, he resigned. I happen to think that Marv Levy and Mike Mularkey would have worked well together. Worst case scenario, they would have fired Mularkey a year or two later, and we would have avoided the soul-crushing Dick Jauron era. I am not trying to be a nit-picker (lord knows I forget details all the time, as years pass), but I have heard from a source I trust, fwiw, that it wasn't so much that Mularkey didn't believe in Losman, but he in no way thought he was ready to be a stater. Mularkey was not on board with dumping Bledsoe, unless they had a viable, competent compliment to Losman. Holcomb was they best they could do. -

I like the idea of Wannstedt as DC. Not so much as HC. That being said, as we are talking about the Bills, anything is possible...but Wannestadt just always seemed befuddled as head coach. I remember the nationally syndicated FOX guy, Jorge Sedano, who was a based in Miami and a beat reporter for the Dolphins, would comment over and over how uncomfortable Wannestadt always seemed as the head man... He proved it in Chicago, Miami and Pittsburgh, he falls into the category of "great assistant, maybe not a great head coach"....think Wade Phillips. -
Except when it comes to game day..."pass, pass, pass...."
-
Keep in mindy, Wannestadt made his mark in the NFL as one of the top DC's over the last 25 years, with a 4-3 defense. The 3=4 wasn't working (obviously)...put guys like Kelsay, Edwards and Johnson in their natural positions, surround them with other guys, playing in their natural positions, and you may be surprised to find that they are not as talentless as their coaches makes them look. What irks me, this move is something anyone who follows the Bills at all, has been clamoring for...but they always say "fans don't know everything that is going on behind the scenes"... anyways, better now than never.

Actually, read closer...I was looking for "Fitz-tragic" shirts! I know you are emotional right now, but you don't really mean this. Capt. Checkdown was normally too scared to throw the ball...Fitz certainly has his problems, but being gutless isn't one of them. BTW- just call him "Ryan Picspatrick."

Personally, and I know it is a long shot, but from what I have heard, Pegula has very high regards for Jason Spezza...he would look great in a Sabres uniform...I won't pretend to know all the salary cap ramifications of the NHL, but it seems they will have to move some major salary dollars to add any real major pieces like that...but I am still buying what Pegula is selling!
-
Could be worse, they could bring Trent Edwards or JP Losman back!
-
An oldie but a goodie!
-
"Pelugaville"...not so much "hockey heaven" as "hockey purgatory"...at least for now. If the Sabres don't turn it around by the all-star break, I really think some heads will roll at First Niagra... I am not giving up on Pegula! Get a real center...nobody should be off limits, except Vanek...that includes coaches and GM's. The Bills? Unless they are extremely lucky, or there is an ownership change, not a lot will change. Plop, plop...fizz, fizz...

I like Ryan Fitzpatrick, good guy...not a very good QB...he was awful today, once the Patriots woke up...Bills need to keep their QB options open...

Jeff Fisher Spotted At Bucs Hotel In Tampa
Buftex replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On "Inside the NFL", Mike Lomabardo seems to think Fisher is the #1 target of the Rams as well. JF's agent has ties to somebody in the Rams organization (can't remember all details) so he is expected to at least listen. Also, said Fisher, who was born in Culver City, CA. has had an interest in the Chargers job.
