Chris Brown SPECULATES Bills in play for V Jackson
Buftex replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He actually played pretty well in 2006 and 2007...he just got injured in 2007. That being said, I will be bummed if the Bills sign Roy Williams. He has talent, to be sure, but is way too erratic, and, off the field, is pretty much a bone-head. He had a QB in Cutler, last season, who had the arm to get him the ball, and had a disappointing season. Of all the guys mentioned, I would love to see the Bills go after Bowe. I think WR, of all positions, is the one where success on one team, in one offensive scheme, is less likely to automatically translate to similar success with another. -
Vikings will listen for trades....
Buftex replied to Armchair GM's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, on his good days, he is a better than average starting NFL QB. It is the Bills brainstrust job to ensure that he has more good days than bad. -
I like the NBA, a lot...there are still some of us!

What Fitz has been up to so far this offseason
Buftex replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess that makes sense....Amarillo is one of those places you don't really go, unless you have to. -
Anybody Watch "Namath" on HBO?
Buftex replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I haven't seen it yet...maybe today, if they have it on HBO on Demand. HBO does a great job with their documentaries, as far as I am concerned. I watched the Lombardi doc a few weeks ago, really good too. They also did and AFL documentary a few years ago, which was terrific...though not as good as the 6 part Showtime series on the AFL. Thanks for the heads up! -
What Fitz has been up to so far this offseason
Buftex replied to billsfanmiami(oh)'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't remember where, but when the Bills were one of the toasts of the NFL, early in the season, there was an article about Fitz and the O-line, and how much they all love to eat...I never said anything, but I really thought, if the Bills season unraveled, that article would come back to haunt Fitz, at least here on TSW... wtf is Fitz doing in Amarilo, besides chowing down on cow? -
The other issue, part of what makes Dwight so funny is that he is very off-center, and kind of an a-hole, a lot of the times. If he is going to carry a show, inevitably, they will try to soften him up a bit, to make him more likeable. I kind of think, to a degree, that is what happened to the Andy Bernard character.

I still get a chuckle or two out of it, but this season, the first without Carrell, there have really only been 1 or 2 top notch episodes. The worst was the one where they went to Gettysburg for a "field trip".

State funding for RWS Stadium improvements?
Buftex replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please don't...I like you here and on Off the Wall...very few can lead the TSW dual lifestyle of being cool in one forum, and a complete douche nozzle on "the dark side"... The PPP has taken a lot of my "friends" over the years. -
Which losing Super Bowl team did you want to win?
Buftex replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wanted all the losing Broncos teams to win...in recent years, I wanted the Bears to beat the Colts, any team that lost to the Pats, and the Arizona Cardinals. Also, wanted Dan Reeves Falcons to beat the Broncos the year he lead the Giants against his old team.... for whatever reason, I always liked the Elway Broncos...outside of the Bills, Elway and Favre have probably given me as many great football memories as anyone. I also liked Dan Reeves a iot....good, old fashioned football coach. -
NYT: Gingrich threatening to boycott debates

I am starting to think there is a fantasy world that you and some others here live in, and then there is the real world. This would be hilarious if most of what you write didn't indicate that you believe this...good luck! -
NYT: Gingrich threatening to boycott debates
Buftex replied to UConn James's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I really don't know who will win this next election, but if a Republican wins, I can't wait to see all the blame placed on Obama for !@#$ing everything up. Say Romney of Gingrich wins, tell me when they, or all your friends here, can no longer complain about what Obama did to ruin the once sparkling, perfect economy, before they sound like little children? What is the moratorium on that? Hell, I have heard some still blaming Clinton for everything that has happened. I get it, you all want Bush to get credit for killing Osama Bin Laden, but no blame for his role in creating the ****ty economy. Makes perfect sense... -

GOP 2012! You Decide...the 1% or their lobbyist! -
It looks like Pegula is going to let Darcy and company ride this thing out...I assume there will be some sort of trade before the deadline...but anything else will happen, if at all, after the season. As much as this edition of the Sabres depresses me, and pisses me off, I really don't think they are one of the very worst teams in the league...I expect them to wake up and make a run for the final playoff spot. History says they won't be able to quite get there.

The general vibe on TSW, if you are a government employee, or a member of a union, you are blight on society...you have never done an honest days work in your life, you are responsibe for the current economic state of the country, etc etc etc... -
Thanks...looks like they likely found the guy who did it...dead...suicide! http://www.kutnews.org/post/police-say-esme-barrera-murder-suspect-dead

I think Erin is super cute! And, I like the new boss, Robert California...they just don't seem to find anything for him to do... I agree about Pam & Jim, but I think the weakest link, unfortunately, has become the Andy Bernard. The perfect example of what happnes when the secondary characters are made to carry a show...his character went from being the funny, agressive guy, to a pathetic, whining wimp. I am afraid a Dwight Schrute show would ruin another great character...and I have little doubt that it would bomb.
-
Only ones that I can think of that worked, was "Frasier", and, to an extent "Rhoda". "Trapper John, MD" and "Lou Grant" were successful, but those were sitcom characters who went to dramas. Poor Lou Grant, the prime time casteration of one of the great sitcom characters of all time...they turned Lou Grant into Haweye Pierce...

So, it looks like NBC is going ahead with a Dwight Schrute spin-off: http://www.inquisitr.com/186847/dwight-schrute-office-spin-off-rainn-wilson/ Also, Newt Schrute: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lycf14hNwc1r3lm2qo1_500.jpg&imgrefurl=http://punditspew.com/post/16456279457/newt-gingrich-and-dwight-schrute-this-explains-everythin&usg=__07_V700yewhxBf0uNxxB0Wp23CI=&h=393&w=500&sz=31&hl=en&start=3&zoom=1&tbnid=WdY4SkAocadREM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=130&ei=YpEhT5mbKcO02wWvwOHfDw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dschrute%2Bgingrich%26hl%3Den%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch&itbs=1

Oh yeah, I get that, they are supposed to be homers, I am a Celtics fan...Tommy Heinson defines the word "homer". But, when you listen, to say, Rick Jeanerett, you know he is a Sabres guy, but he doesn't diparage the other team any more than he does the Sabres, and I have not heard any Sabres color guys do that. In fact, with Center Ice, I often have to watch the Sabres games with the "other" teams broadcasters, and, by and large, most are not as over the top as the Devils guys...Bruins guys are pretty bad... I was really impressed with the Blues broadcast. Darren Pang doing color, and a play by play guy I can't remember. But, Pang spoke at length about the Sabres woes, without sounding like a cheap shot artist. Pang does national broadcasts too, so, perhaps I am expecting too much out of local guys. It doesn't normally bother me (in fact, I like it sometimes) but for some reason the Devils guys were really getting under my skin.

Esme Barrera was my friend, co-worker, who was murdered on New Year's Eve. She was a great kid (only 29!). Murdered by, what is looking like, a serial predator, in her own house, after coming home from New Years celebrating... I live in Austin...she was a staple of the local music scene, not a muscician or performer, but the ultimate supporter of local music. She taught special needs kids, and was a volunteer at the Girls Rock Camp. The way her life was ended, by some random attacker is just heartbreaking...we are still sort of in shock. One of her favorites was Ted Leo. When he heard of her passing, he changed his shcedule, and is coming to Austin to do a benefit concert for her family, this Saturday. Jeez...getting choked up just writing about it...if I was lucky enough to have a daughter, Esme would be her name...assuming I could get mommy to go along with it! Nice article about her, from the local fish-wrap: http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2012-01-13/excited-about-life/ We lost another co-worker just 3 weeks later....last time I saw him was at a memorial for Esme.

Report: Dolphins will go after P. Manning
Buftex replied to ET1062's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Arizona is a great place for Peyton. Harbaugh loves Alex Smith...I just don't know how well Harbaugh's collge coach approach would mesh with P Manning...Manning is used to being, for all intents and purposes, the QB and offensive coach. I just don't know that Harbaugh and a QB of Manning's stature are a good mix. In Arizona, you have an offensively talented team, with an all-world #1 receiver (L-Fitz), just waiting for a QB. They also have a head coach who has something to prove, maybe, to keep his job. Harbaugh, in San Francisco is ascending. Just a hunch...I think Arizona will make a serious run at him. -
Is Garrison Sanborn really a franchise long snapper?
