GR55: 2 hours of Bills free agency talk

PTR don't know how often you listen, but Joe Buscalia has been on GR for a while...he has been their sort of "in-house" Bills guy for a few years...he just doesn't have a regular daily show, so you don't hear as much from him. Now that they have the Bills games, I assume he will be getting more air time. Hopefully, they get to the point where Paul Hamilton can just stick with hockey (his strong suit), and Buscalia just with football. -
GR55: 2 hours of Bills free agency talk

Obviously, you, and the PFT writer for that site did not listen very closely to what Nix said. He did not say "we will be out of the FA market by Friday"...he said "we would like to be out by Friday, but that doesn't mean to say if there is someone out there who can help us after that, we wouldn't be interested." He was talking euphemistcally. In other words, "ideally, we could just go out, get all the guys we want at 4pm today, and then move on to the draft"... but he knows that isn't likely to happen...he even said that!!! I can see why Schoop hates talking to "listeners" so much. They listen, but they don't hear! As for the tweet, sited in the article, to me, it reads, "we got our guys targeted, and hopefully we get them signed right away".... -

Gotta say, I like Howard Simon, but since he has been on vacation, I like Jeremy White a lot more...normally I find him extremely irritating. When he was on with Riter this morning, or with Joe Bucsalia (who is good), White is much funnier and tolerable. -

That was his opening statement, but, by the end of the interview, I was more convinced than ever, the Bills are going to try, if nothing else, to get some guys in FA..."we will address the pass rush, one way or another"..."I hope that fans are as excited about this at the end of the week as they are now"... Buddy is just careful with what he says (he realizes, as most of us, that Buffalo isn't a top FA destination), but he says what he means. Not exactly what he said...he said, "ideally" he hopes that the Bills are out of FA by Friday...but then he went on to say, "that doesn't mean to say we won't sign anyone after Friday". To me, that means that they have some high profile guys targeted (Williams, Jackson), who will likely be signed, by some team, by Friday... -
I'm tired of mistakingly clicking on Bob Matthews editorials

Is that still on? Smerlas is the worst... I remeber, a few years ago, he did some fill-in weekend work on Fox Sports Radio (or was it Sporting News Radio), and he was just awful to listen to. -

Matthews is sort of the Rochester version of Larry Felser, post retirement...pretty irrelevent. -

Buddy on now! Buddy says there will be a number of "shocker" cuts, at 4pm eastern, as teams try to get under the salary cap...so the list of available FA's right now, could change dramatically at 4pm! -

You're not dumb, they are just mean! -
Joe Buscalia and Tim Graham, on right now, for the next two hours...Buddy Nix on, around 10:10am....Chan Gailey, and Russ Brandon will be on at various times as well. For those who care....if nothing else, it keeps Colin Cowherd off our airwaves for one day! That can't be all bad, huh?

I would actually prefer to judge what he can do, in real games. The last I remember, when Thigpen played in regular season games, in the offense that the Bills are running right now (KC), he was very productive. Also, I recall him moving the ball pretty well, at times, during the Bills pre-season...though they did seem to have trouble scoring while he was in there...but, as tempting as it might be to say he "sucks" because of that, I could easily chalk it up to the fact that he was surrounded by "second stringers, third stringers, and camp fodder". The fact that the guy has started a significant number of NFL games, has played for our head coach before makes me much more comfortable with him as the Bills backup, than say, some other guy, who may suck, but hasn't sucked for us yet. Unfortunately, pre-season games are not always a real gauge as to how good a guy is. Remember how great Trent Edwards looked in his first two pre-seasons with the Bills? How did that work out? Let's not discount, either, that any free agent who signed last offseason was at a great disadvantage, with no OTA's, no mini-camps, and a very condensed pre-season. Is Tyler Thigpen really that much of a worry?
-
I predict, at some point, next season, Fitz is going to miss a game or two, Thigpen will come in, play well, and people will be clamoring for Thigpen. Just curios, what is everyone basing their "Thigpen sucks" opinions on?

The Thread To Name The Unconstitutional

Shhh..big boys at play! -
I went to see Springsteen and the E Street band in the early 2000's, when "The Sopranos" was in its' heydey. The whole time, all I kept thinking were "my god, I hope he doesn't play for 5 hours, like he is known to do"...and "so weird to see Silvio playing guitar!"

Obama Calls Sandra Fluke to Console Her
Buftex replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That is not accurate Joe. The woman has already decided, at that point....the health of the fetus is not an issue for her. According to the way the proposal was written, she would be required to look and listen to the results of the ultra-sound, to give her the "rigth to choose" if she really wants to have the abortion or not. Like I said, in response to Rob, I understand the opposition to abortion, and it will likely never go away. If they want to change it, take the necessary steps to overturn the abortion laws. But, the procedure is legal in the US, so to harass women, who have already made their choice, or attempt to guilt them into changing their mind, at the last minute, by forcing an unnecessary medical procedure on them is just wrong. Transvaginal ultrasounds are normally used in the earliest stages of a pregnancy, to more accurately determine a specific due date Once the decision has been made to perform an abortion, there really is no medical reason for a transvaginal ultrasound. Yes, the Virginia House had to backtrack, and re-write their bill, after they were educated, and found out how off they were with their original proposal...so, they passed a law, basically saying, "keep on doing what you have been doing"... a proud moment for conservatives! -

Well, let me ask...if the birth control issue was a controversy totally created by the Obama adminstration to distract from the real isssues, what does it say about the Republicans that they cannot abstain from talking about it...it was hilarious, last debate...the four candidates started out, agreeing that birth control was not the issue, and there were more important issues to discuss...then they did nothing but talk about birth control for another 30 minutes... -

And this is another example of complete "intellectual dishonesty" or ignorance by Republicans. Utrasounds are a normal part of an abortion procedure, not transvagianl ultrasounds. -
Now that it seems like most of the main players in this thread have chimed in, let me ask: Did anyone else get the feeling that Shayne wanted Rick to kill him? The writing on this show is pretty erratic so it is hard to tell what the motivation is of the characters sometimes...but you remember that (awesome) scene a few weeks ago, where Shayne was just staring out the window at the business-man "walker" in the field...was that a euphimism for Shayne realizing that he is no better than a zombie at this point, always on the outside of the group? The proverbial "man standing in the field"? When Shayne talks to Randy (the names on this show kill me) in the barn, he seems to be going through some inner-turmoil. Was it Laurie givning him some "false hope" that they could be together again, or was it the realization of how miserable his existence was in this world? Don't know why he just didn't try to stay hooked up with the blonde lady...as annoying as she is! Anyway, if you are an original "Star Trek" nerd like I was (as a lad) hard not to draw a parallel between Kirk/Spock/McCoy and Rick/Shayne/Dale. On the old Trek show, it was more obvious, but Spock was supposed to be the logical, rooted one, while McCoy was the emotional, humanist...Kirk was supposed to embody the best of both of them. Shayne, for as unstable as he was, was more often right than wrong, and focused...Dale was always concerned about the group losing their humanity...while Rick tries to balance what is best for the group, and what is best for the individual. Well, Spock and McCoy are now dead! If spoiler guy was right, and 3 regular characters die before the end of the season, could T-Dog be the third? Would anyone notice? Or will it be Herschel?

I am not obscuring anything. If your data is correct (I will take your word for it), then change the law at the heart of the issue...but don't harass people that aren't breaking the law, as it stands. I don't know to make that point any simplier. Obviously, we have to agree to disagree on this one. -

Jeez...that would be any sex that is partaken in, without the intent of making a baby! -

Buftex replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
All due respect Rob, I think you are completely missing their point. If the issue is about "killing a baby", then Republicans should use the correct politcal channels to repeal the abortion laws, rather than harassing women who are not breaking any laws. The viagra issue is rediculous, and that is the point. If women must be subjected to unnecessqary ultra-sounds, they are saying, why shouldn't men be subjected to unnecessary heart evaluations, as viagra can affect those with heart conditions. It is really not up to you, or me, to decide what is a matter of a woman's health. Everyone is so concerned about who pays for birth control, nobody cares about who pays for expensive, and unnecessary ultra-sounds? I don't know, but they both said it in the last (or one of the last two) Republican debates. So much for Ron Paul, the great libertarian! -

No, both Santorum and Paul are on record as saying that recreational sex is immoral. -

As is your response an ingrained meme of the right. Two of your four remaining presidential candidates think sex, of any kind, unless it is for procreation, is immoral. You know what, I really don't want to get into it with you. For some reason, you thought I "denegrated" you, and then let me know that you had been laying off me, because you thought I was a girl. And this kind of crap goes on in almost every thread that goes on for more than a few pages. I don't blame you, I blame myself for bothering to come here...as somebody here once asked. "when was the last time anyone said, or posted anything, that changed your mind on an issue?" -

It seems every time the Republicans step in ****, they blame Obama for tricking them into something...what a weak argument this woman makes. If you watched, pretty much any of the Republican debates, it was clear, even before this birth control issues, Republicans preach small government, but they are very concerned about what you do in your bedroom. The issues of morality and sex are red meat for the far right of the Republican party.
