Wow!!!!!!! I am really shocked by this. I am not the worlds biggest fan of Roger Goodell, but I give him credit, he doesn't !@#$ around.

That is the sad thing...when I hear people say they "hate" country music, I take it to mean, they wouldn't know what country music is...they are assuming it is what is marketed to them as country music (Taylor Swift, and all that non-sense)... and I assume it is much the same for Celtic music... I have worked in record stores (part or full time) for about 25 years...typically, when somebody comes in and says they want "traditional Irish music", what they really want is crap like Celtic Women, or, Enya... traditinal Irish music scares them off...

I guess I am not a partisan toad either! Almost daily I get emails from Texas Republcians, the DNC...be careful, somebody will soon accuse you of being an activist...

I have had the displeasure of seeing the Celic Woman show as well, a few years ago...bloody awful. There are certain musical phenomenons that just can't be explained...this is one of them.

Great scene from the theater of the uncomfortable....here is another from "Straight Time" with Dustin Hoffman, Gary Busey, Harry Dean Stanton...rarely seen crime flick, but worth searching for:

I am always amazed at how many people have never seen this movie...it is one of my all-time favorites...1982, at time when Micky Rourke, Kevin Bacon, Paul Reiser, Tim Dailey and, even freakin' Steve Guttenberg were all cool. This flick was so influential on things like "Seinfeld"....Guttenberg is Costanza all over... and Micky Rourke was so cool in that movie... "Boogie...Sintra or Mathis?" Boogie: "Elvis"

Dig the Clippers logo...but it brings up painful memories of losing the Buffalo Braves....I give it a 7.5!

What always stood out to me with Ochocinco the Patriot, were his comments, like, 8 weeks into the season, that made it sound like he didn't understand the Patriots offense. He said, and played, like he was in "awe" of the offense around him...his lack of playing time suggests to me that he is either washed up, or just not that football smart...or both.

The thing is, by makeing no arrest, the police have already taken their stance in the case...travesty is a good word.

From one of my favorite movies of all time, "Diner"

And you think the Bills blue pants will look "gay"? http://www.nikeblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/new-oregon-ducks-football-uniforms-02.jpg

I guess that is kind of what I was trying to say...brevity is not one of my gifts. I like Clooney, on and off the screen...Sean Penn is always involved with great movies (IMO), is a really great actor, but kind of an a-hole off screen.

I have never understood the appeal of Tom Hanks, as an actor...and, I think "Forest Gump" is one of the biggest POS movies ever made. "Larry Crowne" was one of the absolute worst movies I have ever seen. My girlfriend has impeccably bad taste in movies, so I have seen quite a few bad films..."Larry Crowne" ranks rigth up there. I know, being one of the minority "lefties" on the PPP, it won't come as any surprise....but I think people like Sean Penn, George Clooney, and Alec Baldwin (to a lesser extent) are all really good actors, even if they are douche's in real life. And, I know that when they are in a movie (again, Baldwin to a lesser extent), it is going to be of a quality that doesn't insult my intelligence (like "Forest Gump" or "Larry Crowne"). Tom Hanks is not a great actor, IMO, and doesn't have a track record of making really good movies... btw- I know what you mean about Hanks being creepy...in "Larry Crowne" he had so much freaking make-up on, they were trying to make him look younger...it just looked bad.

Don't forget tornado season! I am in Austin, we had a nasty storm last night...lots of flash flooding and tornado alerts...course, I would take it over 100 degree temps, any day.

TEBOW!!! is a Jet! (finally)
Buftex replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Tebow, and I root for him, but I really don't want this circus to pitch its' tent in Buffalo. I do believe the Bills are getting better, and should stay the course...adding Tebow would just add more instability. Elway pursuing Manning, IMO, was as much as wantig to get rid of the Tebow albatross around the franchise's prverbial neck, as it was about wanting Peyton Manning. It was lucky for Elway that Manning became available at the perfect time. I am not one of those who thinks Tebow can never be an effective QB, but he really was helped quite a bit by Denvers defense in 2011. I am not sure that the Bills defense, even with Super Mario, is quite ready to carry a team. I would rather hedge my bets that Fitzpatrick can sustain his good play for an entire season, than Tebow transforming into a legit NFL QB. As a back-up, or gadget player, he might be great, but we know how fans are...the minute Fitz had a bad game, Tebow mania would kick in... to the detriment of the teams' progress. -
Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
Buftex replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is rumored that Williams can be very effective playing inside too... -

I realize you may be new to these parts, but I am sure you are going to have near universal agreement on this post!

If you know me, (and I think I posted it earlier in this thread), what lured me to this show (not somethign I would typicaly watch) was the fact that it was taking an urealistic situation, and presenting it in a very realistic, and it wasn't "zombie kicking ass 24/7"... a lot of people used to complain about the Sopranos, because it didn't have enough mob stuff to keep them interested...not me...it kept me interested, becasue the writing and acting was so damn good, you felt like these were real people. With "The Walking Dead", it didn't bother me at all that they spent half the season looking for Sophia, or living on the farm. But, truth is, the characters are all pretty much the same characters they were in the first episode. Sorry, don't want to sound like a nay-sayer...I just thought the first season of this show was so much better than the second. Not to say it didn't have some great moments (zombie businessman walking the field was my favorite scene of the show), there was just never a lot of follow up on any of them. Like I said, I am not a big comic book guy, and I can't really think of a single comic-book based movie that I thought was any good (though some were much better than others). I think it is just a different kind of storytelling...a comic book is not only a work of art, but of literature...the artist is saying things with the illustrations, more than the dialouge. Screen writing can be much the same...when done right...I am glad the season is over, because I am hoping the writers will tighten things up. I realize, too, they went through a lot of behind the scenes cuts between the first and second seasons. To me, it often felt like they were just regurgitating the same conversations, the same themes, over and over...if there hadn't been that break in the two halves of the season, I might not have made it all the way through.

Hagan, for me, was one of the few bright spots on the offense, down the stretch. He really looked motivivated whenever he was on the field. I believe it was the Chargers debacle, where he looked like the only guy who had any interest in playing football, that day, for the Buffalo Bills. Good move.

Better writers please...if the show wants to be "deep" (and it appears they really want it to be) they need much better writing. The characaters are all very weak...
