Yeah, but that is one of those "so bad it's good" songs..."I Wanna Kiss You All Over" is just bad, bad.

I remmeber that too...one opened up at Sheridan and Colvin (IIRC)...I went there a few times, cuz my sisters friend worked there...I thought she was so hot...she turned out to be a lesbian....and Taco Bell sucks! You are right, they didn't last long at all...can't recall, are there any Taco Bells in Buffalo now? Always happy when I go home and notice things that are not there.

Yeah...those are bad...

I have never been the biggest Dead fan, but I saw Levon Helm do this song, "Tennessee Jed" a few years back on Letterman...it blew me away...I didn't even know the song, but it inspired me to buy my first Dead cd...I like Levon's version better...as a ****ty drummer, I can say, something about seeing somebody play drums and sing always makes me jealous! God-speed Levon.

When Does It Stop Being Bush's Fault?
Buftex replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No, I can't name all the "flip-flops", but if you are really curious about what a liberal considers a "flip-flop" turn on MSNBC pretty much any night...if you have time for Rush, you can spare a little for the other side from time to time, no? I don't know if this would technically be considered a "flip-flop", but talking about working mothers, just this past January, his position seems to be more in line with what Hillary Rosen "said" than anything his wife had to say. But since we are talking about Mitt Romney, I will leave his wife's phoney non-sense out of it. Mitt Romney's view seems to be, in reality, that only rich women should be free to stay at home and take care of their children, while less fortunate mothers (or welfare mothers if you must) don't have any dignity if they don't work outside the home. His, and his wife's pho-outrage over the "mommy-gate" issue was as insincere and transparent as they could manage. Telling voters that he cares about the the issues that are important to the cliche "hard working moms and dads", but turning around and telling a private group of his biggest investors that he intends to cut the HUD program, student loan programs, integrate the Department of Education with other departments, to this liberal anyway, while promising no new taxes to his constituents shows, to this liberal anyway, somebody who is lying to somebody. He seems to have a long political career of doing that. Of course, Romney's cuts weren't meant for general public consumption, but only for the ears of the money men who will most likely make or break his campaign. So I suppose that makes them off limits? And to those (and I think you are one of them, forgive if you are not) can't see the correlation between "Obamacare" and "Romneycare", to me, you are living in a bubble. Of course, there is a difference...Romney never had the power to make "Romneycare" a federal law, so he did what he could. And it was, overall, pretty good for his state...but he can never admit that, without some spin. But he does "love mandates". Or, at least he did, before he unwittingly found himself the defacto Tea Party pin-up. You know what, honestly, something tells me, my estimation of Romney, by the time the dust settles in Novmeber,is going to be a bit like my feelings for John McCain. I do have respect for both of them, on some level, but the more they talk, the harder they campaign, the brighter their insincerity shines through. Did he really get that much more interest, or did the others just make people lose interest in them? I give the GOP electorate for seeing through ass-clowns like Rick Perry pretty quickly, but running against the other party is a bit different than running for the candidacy of your own party. -

I am not predicting who will win in November, but do you really think Romney raked Gingrich over the coals? I didn't get that impression at all. In fact, it almost seemed to me that in the GOP primaries, what Romney did that was smart, for the most part, was keep his mouth shut, as much as he could. Gingrich, Santorum, Cain, etc just looked worse every time they opened their mouths, and Romney just kind of sat back and said "hey, I'm still here!" Again, I am not predicting an Obama victory, but the heat is going to be pretty high on Romney in the general election...he hasn't always excelled under those conditions. I know they usuals here will deny it, but Romney has a pretty strong record of contradicting himself...on pretty major issues, to many. And you don't have to go back decades to find the inconsistencies. "Raking over the coals" doesn't really appear to be Romneys strongest suit. But, we shall see...the fact that it took him so long to finish off Santorum doesn't speak all that well for him...if Gingrich had dropped out (like he should have if he wasn't such an egotistical ass), Santorum still might be giving Romney fits. -
Yeah, actually a Rodgers & Hart tune, but I am not sure who recorded it first. I've heard so many versions, Elvis, Patsy Cline, Mel Torme, and even Bill Monroe...interesting that it was actually written by some of the old show tune guys...... As for contemporaries, always liked the Cowboy Junkies version of it...they changed the words some, but Margo Timmons has such a great voice...

You bring up an interesting point...think that with 16 NFL games, the NFLN will be added to more cable carriers? I have a feeling it will...even the most mundane of NFL matchups on ESPN are still amongst the very highest rated cable programs on any given Monday.

Been making moves like that for years! I haven't worked the Sunday after the Super Bowl in about 15 years...used to do the same thing back when the Bills were on night games a bit more often...gotta have priorities! Of course I will watch, and hopefully, enjoy...but I am not a big fan of Thursday Night football, no matter who is playing.

That is a great song...Marcels are the best, but there have been quite a few great covers as well...Elvis coming most immediately to mind.

I work at the University Of Texas...Charles Whitman is a big part of the culture here...my old boss, on a bad day, would say things like (jokingly- of course!) ... "these bitches are asking for a Whitman sampler today"! I miss that big queen sometimes! FWIW- after the episode the week before, where they referenced the Richard Speck murders, I found out one of my very best friends was (is?) a cousin to one of the ladies killed...I don't know how that never came up before...I have known him for almost 20 years.

Not sure about 9, but if Chan remembers that he has two running backs that are actually running the ball effectively on two different Sundays, before, inexplicably abandoning the running game, I think the Bills would have won at least 8 games!

Strength of Schedule = No Excuses

The simplest way to think of it, if the Bills don't suck, their schedule is a lot easier! -
Anyone see this Coachella performance of Snoop Dog and Tupac
Buftex replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Amazing what technology can do...but still disturbing to me...I remember my dad being appalled, a few years back, when there was some Coke commercial (I think it was Coke) featuring Michael Jackson and a youthful Fred Astaire dancing to sell Coke products...but, yeah, I agree, that clip is pretty impressive. -
No... no comparison.

Jeez...now you guys got me talking to myself. Just watching O'Donnell, he claims, straight faced, that he has never tasted beer in his life, and certainly never taken any illegal drugs. Got no problem with the drug thing, but seriously, never tasted beer? Now I know why I don't like him too much...
-
I think he has been working on this for some time...at some point, he felt more empathy for Betty, despite her increasing bitterness to him. The dream sequence last week seemed to reveal that he wants to be a "good husband, good father" but is still struggling with it. The scene of he and Pete in the back seat of the taxi was just so well done, it said it all, so easily.
-
I plan on going to that Bills @Houston game, no matter when it is (unless it is Christmas or Thanksgiving weekend)...so for selfish reasons, I hope it is not a night game...but I am excited to see the schedule tomorrow. I must admit though, rolling it out as a 3 hour tv special is really annoying...but that is the NFL, where no occurrence is too insignificant...no matter though, I suppose, it seems like the schedule leaks out in drips and drabs during the course of the day.

A Guy With a New Heart vs. Someone With None
Buftex replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Fug any politcian who is afraid to stand behind something they think is right, because it is "political suicide". It wasn't all that long ago that universal healthcare coverage was a Republican priority. And you may be right, Obama wanted to do the things that he, Pelosi and Reid wanted to do, because that is what he was elected to do. From my view, he backed off too easily, too many times, on important issues. And how can you forget Mitch McConnels "Our only goal is to make Barrack Obama a one term president"? You can't say **** like that, and then be surprised when people give you some blame for it. To me, that was as loathsome and unpatriotic as anything I have ever heard any politician, particularly one of McConnel's stature, say. I know you are all about lefty fairytales, Kool-Aid drinkers, and "narratives"...but you spin (or believe) quite a few of your own. -
Probably not meant as a joke, I know, but it made me laugh, with sadness...my dad and I had a really ****ty relationship most of my life...but I love the old bastard now!

Awesome song!

A Guy With a New Heart vs. Someone With None
Buftex replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Oh stop with the "what does that say about you" nonsense. What it says about me is that I don't happen to agree with you, all the time. I also don't always disagree either. Your hatred for Obama is well documented. Near every thread on this board (many which you have started) exists to point out "hey, here is another reaseon to hate Obama, agreed?" Don't agree, you are a moron! So, I was just wondering if you were trying to make some new point, or if this is just more of the same. More of the same as it turns out. I don't happen to agree with you (or Dick Cheney) that Obama has been a total disaster. If I felt I had a better option, I would support someone else. If Mitt Romney wins, I am not ready to hate him from day one, the way many have treated Obama. As for being the "consumate divider", that is rich. Republicans have been using wedge issues to divide voters for quite some time. Sure, Obama is playing politics, using the same rules that have been used for the last 40 years or so. I know, previous adminsitrations are untouchable now, unless it is Jimmy Carter. But, to me, the biggest failure of Barrack Obama was wasting two years trying to play nice with people who had no desire to help, or see him succeed. If his pushing the "Buffet Rule" is so incredibly rediculous, voters who are paying attention will see that, and make that judgement for themselves. That is why they have the general elections. -
Lee Evans, Paul Posluzny and Mike Mularkey are hardly the worst things associated with the Bills over the last 12 years. I for one hope Evans resurrects his career somewhere.
