As someone who lurks regularly but posts infrequently, here's what I think may be happening hee. First off, I don't think one season of playing behind an inept line is enough to evaluate JP. The guy was basically running for his life last year. Granted Holcomb was much better, but he was much more experienced also. I think Marv may be letting these rumors float around because he knows Denver is interested in a QB and may be a dance partner in an attempt to trade down. He may be trying a smoke and mirrors trick to get Denver thinking we want a QB at #8. We all know we need help in MANY areas. If we could even create the impression that we're looking at QB with the 8th pick it could cause teams who have one targeted to get nervous and trade above us thus getting one of the higher rated players who would already be off the board to fall to us. While there's alot of talent in this draft, nobody is certain when the top three QB's will go. In that regard, the draft this year should be very interesting.

KRC...You've brought me out of my longtime lurking slumber. I've lived in SD the past 20 years (although currently stationed in Japan). I must concur with some earlier recommendations. First- go to Rubio's and get some fish taco's. You also should get to Petco for a Padres game. If hiking is your thing, Anza-Borrego is a great place to hike (depending on when you come...it's starting to get REALLY hot by early June). I also recommend a restaurant named Cafe Seville in the Gaslamp. It's a Spanish Tapas restaurant and they have a nice Flamenco Show on the weekends. The Hotel Del Coronado is a nice place to visit, and the beach there is beautiful. If you get a chance, I am also impartial to the graduation parade at MCRD on Fridays. It's free and It'll give you a chance to see some of the finest young people our nation has to offer. Hmm, if you get up to Carlsbad, drive the coast and stop at Jay's Gourmet for some good Italian. The Coyote Bar there also has good chow to match the drinks and live bands outdoors nightly. If a zoo is your thing, skip the zoo in Balboa and go to the Wild Animal Park in Escondido...it's much better. In stark contrast to many of the goofy, light-hearted parts he played, Don Knotts was a Drill Instructor while he was in the Corps. Although I was nowhere near gracing the face of the earth when he served, legend has it that he was one of the meanest SOB's to wear a smokey bear.

Dude, where did you live? Above Kettles? Anyway, Mammy's does have the best wings in the world- bar none. And while you're there, you may even meet the Mayor of Hamburg- One term Herm- any of you know him? FTR- I'll buy anyone a beer that can get through an order of suicidal in one sitting. The best wings they offer are the "hot BBQ"- you've got to try them.

Can anyone tell me when the last time was that the Bills won a game on the Left Coast? I know our overall record is terrible when we travel all they way out there. As far as us shutting down LT, you must be high on crack to even suggest our run D is comparable to Philly's this year. LT may go over 200 yds in this game...seriously.

My greatest concern is the fact that teams who travel from one coast to the other historically don't fare well. Couple that with the Bill's record against the Raiders at home and I'm picking the Raiders in my pool at work. I hop I'm wrong, but when money's on the line, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Dante- Be careful at the game...I'd bring additional clothing to cover up your Bills gear just in case we win. RaiderFan has a long history of assault on opposing team fans. Shoot, they're all paroled felons or welfare recipients there anyway. Ya gotta love what Jerry Brown has done for that city...

Is there anyway to listen to the game over the internet? If anyone knows a station that may have slipped below the wire please post...Thanks!

Chris Spielman is my all-time favorite Bill. Although he didn't play for the longest time, when he was on the field he gave 100% every play. He is a man's man and an even better human being. We need more people like Spielman in our nation.

The heat in southern area stadiums is an early season advantage for the home team just as snow and cold in the late season benefits the teams from the North. I knew heat would be a factor Sunday...but heat was not the primary factor. The primary factor was the offense's inability to get a 1st down until the 4th Qtr (exagerating). This cause our D to be on a hot and humid field trying to chase down that Caddilac SOB. Consider how much whining happened here on the board this past summer because of the hot weather in B-lo...Now factor in all the gear these guys wear and you should be able to comprehend the issue. Why do you think the President sent us into Iraq when he did? He knew the weather was rapidly getting hotter and was advised he had to go when he did...but that's a story for the PPP board...

Here's a plan...move the Chargers to Oceanside. It's 45 miles North of SD and an easy commute from SmelL A and OC. Then I wouldn't have to travel too far to see the games. In fact I know the perfect chunk of land where they could put it... Nah...it makes too much sense.

That just means that there's more fat and ugly women who won't get laid. You've never heard of wing goggles, have you?

In other news... Surveys show the use of tampons is up in the US also...

I hate to be the 1st to pick against the Bills, but I see the game 16-10 Bucs. I think JP will face a tough D on the road, and also that the heat will play a factor toward the end of the game. I see us leading 10-9 late into the 4th Qtr, and then giving up a late TD. I hope I'm completely wrong...nothing would make me happier.

One factor that often gets overlooked is the heat down there in Florida. I went to the Bills games the last two times they were in San Diego, and in the game that Flutie started it was balls hot. The team tired out toward the end of the game. I remember something similar happening in Miami when we've played there in early September. I just hope our boys don't party too hard and stay hydrated this week or the heat will definately be a factor in the final outcome.

Welcome to the new world Newman. I'm just glad you're not complaining about the security precaution all must go through before boarding. I just get back last night from a 19 hour journey from Buffalo to Tokyo. What a grind! But it's definately better than taking a ship. I agree with the earlier comments about air transportation being the new busses. Personnaly, I'd rather have the lower price and suck it up for a few hours than pay more...but that's just me. FTR, I bought my plane ticket for Christmas leave the day after Katrina hit before the gas prices went through the roof. I think I did the right thing.

Get it right..Meals Refusing to Exit. Eat them for a week or more and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. As far as the newest menu, I like the pork riblets...no too bad.

Don't fool yourself, there are principled young men and women who are joining the military. George Pataki's son is an example of this. I'm not sure if you're aware, but he recently graduated from Yale and chose to make a difference. Teddy Pataki, son of N.Y. State Gov. George Pataki, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Marines Corps, Saturday June 25. More than 50 family members, elected officials, former Marines and N.Y. State Police Officers gathered at Pataki's residence in Garrison, N.Y., for the formal ceremony of the Yale University graduate. Pataki, a 22-year-old native of Peekskill, N.Y., began seeking out information from the Marine Corps in February 2004 during his junior year at Yale. His interest peaked during a mundane summer internship working in a cubicle. He said at that time he wanted something more challenging, more adventurous. As a football player and fraternity president, his peers respected and admired his choice to take the commission and become a Marine officer, however, it was a shock to Yale as not that many of the students choose to serve in the military. “It doesn’t affect me,” Pataki said. “This is something that I wanted to do.” He completed 10-weeks of training at Officer’s Candidate’s School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA in August 2004. “Succeeding in OCS meant a lot to me. It meant more than graduating Yale because it demanded so much from me as a person. I grew a lot during my time there.” He added that graduates from Yale have a lot of options, but not all are as rewarding as being a Marine. “I wanted something more exceptional; something that would make the most out of me.” Although following his family members footsteps at Yale, Pataki wanted to forge his own future after graduating. “The Marine Corps gave me a chance to make my own way. It was a way for me to prove myself,” Pataki said. “I chose the Marine Corps over all the branches because it’s respected throughout the world. It’s an elite brotherhood and I wanted to be a part of that.” After receiving his lieutenant bars, he humbly admitted this ceremony was not about him, but more so a tribute to the family he is about to join. “The ranks I am privileged enough to join today have made this accomplishment significant through past bravery and loss of Marines throughout American history,” Pataki said. After his commissioning, he thanked his family and friends for helping him develop into the person he is today. He thanked them for the letters that raised his spirits during the tough time at OCS. He spoke of the spirituality he found during his Marine training. “Growing up, I never considered myself an especially spiritual or devout person. But I’ve found that it is something intangible, something divine and beyond our grasp or understanding, which can make the real difference when the cards are stacked against us," Pataki recalled. “Our drill instructors were masters at awakening this component of each (Officer Selection Officer candidates) intellect.” Pataki’s recruiter, Capt. Matthew Kessler, said the leadership ability in Pataki was evident from the start. “From being elected as president of his fraternity to helping other officer candidates prepare for OCS, he was always willing to take charge. If given the chance at OCS, I knew he'd be successful & go on to become an officer of Marines.” Pataki is now in the individual ready reserves and will be attending Fordham Law School, Bronx, N.Y. for the next three years. According to the standards of Platoon Leaders Class law program, upon graduation and completion of the Bar and ethics exam, Pataki will them come on active duty and begin his three and a half year obligation to the Marine Corps. He will attend The Basic School in Quantico, VA, then nine week Judge Advocate General course and assigned to his first duty station where he will become a military lawyer.
