Anyone in the military have an opinion?
SD Jarhead replied to Thirdborn's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Damn man, the fish aren't biting today... -
I found myself in a similar situation to what many are facing during the last California housing meltdown in the early 90's. I had just returned from the Gulf War and had saved up a bunch of cash. Me and the wife wanted to buy a place and could only afford a condo. We bought a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo new in the first phase of a complex for $119k. Shortly after we purchased the California housing market started melting down. The builder of the complex decided to liquidate the 2nd phase of the community by selling the homes at auction. Exactly one year after we purchased our condo for $119k a similar unit sold at auction for $77k! In addition, I used my VA loan and borrowed through a plan that was called the 3-2-1 loan, meaning we had neg-am for the first three years This was right around the time we started our family and once we had two kids we outgrew the 900 sqft. Long story short, we moved out and rented the condo and rented a larger house. I had to pull $350 a month out of pocket to make the mortgage note on the condo. It was a write off, but still... The bottom line is it took me seven years to meet the market on that place where I could sell it for what I owed. I could've walked away and destroyed my credit. But I sucked it up. Everyone makes financial mistakes in their lives, but it's how people deal with them that separates the herd. I have very little compassion for those who make a mistake and blame someone else. Like someone opined above, bad things happen to good people. That stated, I sympathize with Chef and I'm sure there are a few people out there who have had something similar happen. I can tell you that if someone intentionally screwed me, I'd hunt them down and execute a plan of silent vengeance so that they'd never know what hit them. But by and large, most people were just stupid or greedy OR that deadly combination of both.

BS was just the first domino to fall...This mess is far from over and the outcome is far from certain.

We're coming mighty close the the end of that road...I can read the words "Dead End" on the sign because we're that close... In unison now, everyone say "Baahhhhh"

It is a joint billet. The person before the Admiral was an Army General and before him it was a Marine General. The reason the area is so !@#$ up is because they put a kitty Squid in charge. He's a butt -
McCain's love affair with the telecom lobby

Hey, this is like one of those Wonderlic questions! -
Funny you should ask about languages...I primarily speak English, but know some Spanish and some Mexican (pinche, chingadero, etc) Recently I've been learning Flibedy-Gibberish from spending time over at the PP&P board reading and deciphering Molson Golden's ramblings...

I can't believe the Philipino chick wasn't in the bottom three. The flips are voting in force I guess... I can see a few of the remaining contestants getting deals and doing well for an album or so. This is by far the most talented field they have ever put up though. The show dynamics this year are really different than in years past. Syeshea is the only black, soul singer left in the competition which is odd compared to last year with Shrek and the other Large Marge who had no chance at pop success, but still made it pretty far.

That's what they call a hottie in those parts...

Crayonz, I don't know who you are, but you be one funny MoFo!!!! -
Do you know anything about the Tet Offensive? Apparently not. Yes, we did kick their ass, though at great cost to us in lives. I mentioned that battle because it was widely reported by the MSM at the time that we lost, when in fact we defeated the VC and denied them of their objectives. Certainly, there was an anti-war movement before this event, but the negative reporting of the battle helped to create momentum for those who wanted us out and is when protests started to get violent here in the States. I'm not saying this is the only reason for the events of the day, but using it as an example of the power the media has in influencing the enemy.
-
Didn't we learn this lesson during the Vietnam War after the Tet Offensive? We actually kicked their ass but the media reported it as a loss and that, in part, helped to change many American's views on the war leading to our eventual pull out.

Thanks Kelly...Did they get a new racist preacher to replace him? Just kidding!

In the speech he refers to his "former pastor". Has he changed his church now? And was this done in response to the controversy? I'm not an Obama expert and am just wondering...

Now he's had an affair with "several" women since 1999. But more importantly, he's not having an affair right now. Whew, thanks for letting us know that! That's one blind squirrel who sure gets alot of nuts! -
I'm not an Obama fan, nor did I see the speech, but if the delivery was half as good as the text, that was one hell of a speech. I'll have to watch it on youtube when I get a chance.

Wow, what a guy. This is one young athlete who gets it. Contrast that with McGahee. I don't think we'll get him, but whoever does sounds like their going to get one hell of a player and man. -

Starship Chorus: We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Say you don't know me, or recognize my face Say you don't care who goes to that kind of place Knee deep in the hoopla, sinking in your fight Too many runaways eating up the night Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Chorus: We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Someone's always playing corporation games Who cares they're always changing corporation names We just want to dance here, someone stole the stage They call us irresponsible, write us off the page Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Chorus: We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll It's just another Sunday, in a tired old street police have got the chokehold, and we just lost the beat! Who counts the money underneath the bar Who rides the wreaking ball into our guitars Don't tell us you need us, 'cos we're just simple fools Looking for America, coming through your schools (I'm looking out over that Golden Gate bridge on another gorgeous sunny Saturday and I'm seeing bumper to bumper traffic. Don't you remember (remember) (Here's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps) Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Chorus: We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Chorus: We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll Total Bullsh*t

Officer Refuses To Go To Iraq
SD Jarhead replied to jimmy_from_north_buffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
A few questions that remain unanswered in the article... Did he receive any scholarship money from the Army? Why didn't he resign before being assigned to duty in Iraq? Was the war less objectionable to him when his butt wasn't in jeapordy? Things that make me go Hmmm. -

What an effin kitty! I hope they give him more than eight years. He is supposed to be a leader of men, not just his own sorry ass. What's interesting about a man who voluntarily takes an oath and choses to ignore it when it suits him? Thankfully, this guy is an exception to the rule and not the norm. Screw him.
