I completely agree that they do it for the interests that support them. That is why the Democrat Party, who is beholden to extreme environmental groups like the Sierra Club, will not allow oil exploration/drilling at ANWR, as one example. And, yes you can go back to the Republican led Congress who lacked the foresight to do anything about it also. What we are seeing now is political games being played at the expense of our national strategic interests in a time of crisis. The issue for me is for our nation to become less dependent on foreign energy sources so we can have a chance of getting out of the M.East. Right now we need to have a footprint there to preserve and keep open our supply lines (shipping) of black crack from S.A. and other Gulf States. It just so happens that that party now in power in Congress is the one screaming the loudest about getting us out of there but yet they will do nothing (in fact they obstruct) about developing domestic sources like oil shale and opening up domestic areas likely to hold oil reserves.

I thought that was your party platform...you make it sound like taxes and regulation is a bad thing.

Eryn- The key line in that article is "Do nothing Congress". When are they going to get their heads out of their asses and get things moving. We can get it out of the ground overnight. I found it interesting that the Governor is a Democrat. He needs to call his compadres and tell them to wake the !@#$ up.

Tragic, but what can you say? Her son was shot in a country that bans guns? Where do you go from here? Banning knives?

If they did The Messiah would rise to the surface and walk on water until he reached landfall in the US, just in time to give us change we can believe in! -

My ridiculous example did not mention killing anyone, just that the 'friend' was a member of a racist organization. What's the difference between the Klan and Wright/Pfleugers racist views? "But frankly, I don't think doing or not doing either of those things, sooner or later, has anything to do with whether or not he would make a good President. Sometimes you are going to have to make hard decisions on people you know. That is no doubt true. But this was politicized for him not by him. He doesn't get political advice from Wright he gets spiritual advice. I'm sure he takes a lot to heart and the things he doesn't believe as strongly he gives less weight to." Isn't that the problem with Bush? I genuinely think GW is an honorable man, but one who surrounded himself with schitty advisors and consequently made (very) schitty decisions. How is this NOT relevant? A President CAN'T know it all and has to select a staff that ultimately he trusts to provide him with astute policy choices. If who you associate with is not indicitive of who'll be your advisors I don't know what is... -
So, the Chinese are harmless?
SD Jarhead replied to Fastback's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I couldn't agree more. We are an arrogant nation. So many think that there will never be an attack on our soil and we're the great this or that. If you know your history, Empires gradually rise to power but when the fall, they fall precipitously. I do feel that our children (or maybe us) are going to see some hard times in their lives. I feel it in my gut, as do I believe most Americans. -

Shortly before I retired from the Marine Corps last year our NIPR net was down for three days. We were all fired up and mad at the NMCI villains who administered the network. Well a few weeks later I was talking with the Regimental CO about this and that and the subject of the network stoppage came up. He said that the Chinese had hacked the net and that was the reason for the outage. Not long after that there was a news release from the Government that mention the Chinese had hacked into the National War College. The piece claimed that they hadn't penetrated very deep, but who really knows. Here's something else to ponder- If you're a one in a million genius here in the US, how many of you are there in China? -

I used to have this friend who was a Klan member. He was great to his family and his kids. In fact he was a soccer coach and boyscout pack leader. He was even nice to blacks and mexicans most of the time. He was very smart and well spoken. I liked 90% of him, but there was that 10% Klan thing I just had to overlook because of all of his other outstanding personality traits. C'mon people. If the shoe was on the other foot you'd be going crazy like a bunch of rabid dogs. I think Blue Fire is on the mark in his post. While the pundits are overreacting to this, if Obama was such a stand-up guy and an agent of 'change', than why did it take so long for him to cut bait with Wright. If you fail to admit that the people a person associates with do not help to define them I think you're being less than honest. It reminds me of an old saying-If you live in the sewer, you're going to smell like schit. -
I understand and sort of agree with your viewpoint on Bush. I don't like his Texas tough-guy approach, but the Kyoto treaty was a bad deal for us that I am very glad we didn't get roped into. You make a good point about the Messiah, he is smooth and I must admit, I like his appearance of taking the high ground. For me it's the issue of style over substance. And yes, he wins on style points. I'm more of a substance person. That's the thing w/ Bush. If that fukker had an ounce of understanding about presentation I think he'd have been much more effective. Look no farther than Reagan as someone who pissed people off in doing the right thing but was smooth about it and could disarm some of his adversaries. Bush, I feel, believes he's doing the right thing, but he could care less about the public appearance. At the end of the day, I am more comfortable (at this point) with what McCain brings to the table. Anyhow, gotta go be productive...

So let's get this straight...Faux Snooze is the great Satan of the newsworld that the Dem's are deathly afraid of, and won't go near (that Hannity guy sure is a badazz ), and yet the owner is considering endorsing the Messiah? So if Fox a good guy or bad guy? FAR- when you figure it out, let us all know would you? BTW- Is Molten Retard banned? It has been quite peaceful here lately W/O him. But FAR kind of reminds me of a neutered Molten...Jusy a thought...

I don't disagree with most of what you posted, but have to call BS on this opinion. Where has he demonstrated that he is anything but a left wing politician? Isn't that the Dem's beef with Bush (other than Flightsuit, Haliburton...etc)? The whole change thing is merely change to the hard left, which is in my opinion not what we need. We need someone who can lead from the middle. This is something Clinton actually did fairly well. He worked hard to push welfare reform through congress as an example. I just don't hear any of this coming from the Messiah. One of the things I respect about McCain and it is the thing that most Republicans have a problem with, is that he will reach across the aisle if it means getting something he believes is in our national interest done. I don't always agree with him, but I respect that he has a proven track record of having done so, often times at great political risk. Give me one example from the Messiah of having crossed party lines to move an idea forward...I don't believe you can come up with one. Make no mistake about it, McCain is a politician (look at his 'gas tax holiday' sham), but you're fooling yourself if you think the Messiah is any different.
-
I do disagree with just about all of the Messiah's policies and that he hasn't really done anything. I also think he is terribly naive WRT foreign policy and diplomacy. But I do not disagree that he has, to this point, been a good candidate for the Dem's. He's articulate and has a few notable speeches. His performance so far has only been in the primaries though. It remains to be seen how he'll do leading up to the big show when he's not perperually getting his ass kissed by the adoring masses of Lefties.

OK, You're a genius (In the Joe Theisman mold)! I'm not defending Scotty nor saying he is wrong in his assessments. He is a money grubbing whore though...just sayin' The whole Iraq/WMD horse has been beaten to death, so pat yourself on the back if it makes you feel good. The fact remains that your boys (the Democrats) couldn't beat the weakest President in decades during the past election cycle. Again I ask, why? The point has already been established that the Bush Admin. sucks at marketing. The funny thing is it looks like the Dem's are repeating history all over again with the Messiah. Another election, another lightweight. The schit would be funny if it wasn't such an important time in our history. Oh, and nice use of song lyrics to prove your point...it really adds gravitas to your argument!

Thanks for the link! Now I can get more involved...What's that honey? American Idol is on? Ooops, gotta go...

Hear me clearly...I'm not defending Bush. Yes, he's an idiot who has made some terrible choices as President. But if you believe he is great at marketing his administration I think you're mistaken. I don't know how good Kerry would've done, no one does. But if wasn't such a santimonious prick he might've been elected and maybe we would know. When will the Democrats self examine as to why they couldn't beat the weakest President in years? Oh, yes, I forgot...It's that "Evil Genius" Karl Rove... Edit: I am a staunch conservative (more fiscal than social)- The Republican party is as corrupt as the Democrats. So there isn't much of a discernable difference between the two, although I do align more closely with their core ideals (or what they used to be).

Saudis tell Bush to go F himself
SD Jarhead replied to PastaJoe's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well Darin, the problem's just too big so we'll just B word about it and let the next generation solve it. Because we took a poll and people just don't want to do it. We also don't want the Sierra Club upset with us, because that would stop our flow of campaign contributions, and of course we can't have that...
