  1. Per the article "It is possible that several hundred banks could also fail during the year ahead unless there is a sudden recovery in house prices." A sudden housing recovery isn't going to happen. With every day that passes Americans are getting pinched tighter and tighter. As has been mentioned in other threads, the next wave of insolvency is in credit cards and the like. Correct me if I'm worng, but each homeowner that goes into foreclosure or bankruptcy removes one person (or family) out of the game who can help housing recover. It looks like the 'perfect storm' scenario is coming, and it looks to be nasty! I know there were many who ridiculed Dwight Drane and his predictions on the way the market was headed, but he looks to be spot on at this point.
  2. Wow, so this is what we've sunken to on a slow day...The 'most fierce' cuddly mascot? Sorry guys, I want no part of this rodeo...
  3. Have you seen his plan for 'saving' social security? But I guess that's not a tax, so it doesn't qualify, right? Thanks for the props on the Robin Hood moniker, I knew you'd dig it He is from da hood right?
  4. Very funny, nice find! But I think Baracknophobia is the fear of socialism...
  5. BF-It's pointless...Molten,er, EZA won't let facts get in the way of his conjecture...
  6. So, you've seen his 'beastiality site'? If the video of the 'beastiality' is the 'horney donkey' video as described you are a fuggin loon. As far as naked painted women, all you have to do is pick up a copy of SI's swimsuit issue to see that. Is that porn also? Did you even read the letter from his wife? What's your take on that bastion of journalistic integrity the LA Times? Edit: Molton- Is that you?
  7. OC-I'm not worried, Obama has a plan. He's just going to tax the !@#$ out of the 'rich' people making above $250k per year. A modern day Robin Hood from da hood. But seriously, you're right. Medicaid and Medicare are the two largest expenditures that NOBODY will acknowledge and that Politicians will not touch for fear of becoming a leper. But for me, I'm concerned with ALL Gov't spending, especially the type that is discretionary, as I view the war to be. In hindsight (being 20/20) we did not have to fight this war, but we can save that for some other day. But as I also mentioned, the day to day cost of fighting the war isn't the only expense that needs to ba accounted for. The cost of resetting the force once we do can home en masse is going to be staggering.
  8. Dude, You're an idiot. Nothing more needs to be said...you've said it all above.
  9. Didn't mean to implicate that it did. The additional debt we're incurring by being there isn't helpful, but there are many other factors leading me to write that.
  10. Get well soon brother...my prayers are with you.
  11. This is unfreakin believable! What an event...one of the best tournaments I've ever seen! Go Rocco!
  12. Gary- Couldn't have said it better myself...
  13. We broke it...we bought it. Now we've got to fix it, right or wrong. But, it does, at this point, seem to be getting repaired. Let's just hope the dollar doesn't collapse before we're done...
  14. And yet we have those who are against the death penalty for people like this but are in favor of aborting the innocent. Go figure...
  15. I have a lifelong friend who is a prison guard at Attica. When I'm back in NY hunting with him I've learned to never ask him "How's work going". Over the years he has referred to the inmates as animals. At first I thought it was a bit harsh, but after listening to the stories of what happens with some of these 'people' it's unbelievable. Again, some people in this world only qualify as human beings because of their DNA, while their actions prove them to be animals.
  16. He worked in the shoe department at Dick's...
  17. USGA rules for this tournament. It's different than most others...
  18. I still want to know when Steely Dan is going to answer the other b*llschit he posted that alleged Christian groups have sabotaged every peace agreement in the Middle East in order to fulfill prophesy. He must've seen that on that balanced news channel also. And, no $112k per isn't rich in S. California where I live, it barely qualifies as middle class.
  19. Here's a great article on Tim's passing: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...1302423_pf.html The thing that struck me the most about Tim was that he seemed to be devoid of ego. For all his success and power, he came across as just a regular guy. I'll miss that the most about him...
  20. Lest anyone forget that the $200 billion spent on the war is also helping to prop up the economy. I'm not saying this is a good thing, but once we start cutting back on Gov't contracts real estate is going to get real cheap in Maryland and Virginia. The hangover from this war is going to dwarf what happened post-Vietnam. And don't even ask about the cost of re-setting the force once we do get out of Iraq...
  21. RIP Tim. He was a true professional. One of the few in the media who you couldn't tell which side he slanted to. He'll be missed...
  22. Why? You know the answer to that one...
  23. Dude, you're making no sense. Your argument is very simplistic. First of all, no one is suggested we could even get it 'right away'. And if we were to sell it on the world market, don't you think selling high is a good thing? As for a magic substitute, that something you'll have to ask Pete and pbills about. That's what they're waiting for...
  24. I don't hate Democrats, I just think they're terribly misguided. I think in the battle of ideas they are on the losing side. I'm not here to defend McCain either, though at this point he is probably the person I will cast my ballot for. I think his idea of a gas tax 'holiday' is a sham, and do not support it. Actually, I was a McCain supporter back in 2000. I really wish he would've got the nod over Bush. I've said that to those who know me for years. He is a man of honor and principle and I like the fact that he ruffles feathers in his own party. That is a mark of true leadership to me, the fact that he will go against the grain if he feels like it is the right thing to do. I believe the next President needs to lead from the center and McCain's past actions prove to me that he will do so. I am certain that Obama will not lead from the center. I am certain that he is a very liberal candidate. I know that to get your guy elected you must tear down the opposing candidate, but I think the portraying of McCain as McBush is laughable and couldn't be farther from the truth. Anyway, that's about all I have time for tonight.
  25. That unfortunately is what we've had to settle on with this mess. But I believe it is an obtainable goal if conditions continue to improve the way they have recently. Hopefully we don't go broke first...
