Congressional ratings : Rasmussen poll
SD Jarhead replied to stuckincincy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I agree with just about everything you posted. I would like to hear a serious debate of the issues leading to why scientists empirically believe the earth is warming. Maybe it will be brought up as an issue during the campaign. As a conservative minded person, I cannot stand the right's arrogant attitude that I'll drive the biggest SUV I can find 'because I can'. I feel we should all sacrifice and do our part to conserve and save energy where we can. It is a national security issue for me. I want us out of the Middle East as quickly as possible. I'd love to have us out of Iraq as soon as we can leave provided there's security there. Therefore the sooner we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil the better off we'll be. -
I hate Okra and Eggplant. I must hate slimy people (Democrats) and purple people. *That was for you Simple Simon*

That is stoopid funny!

Probably! But seriously, this what you pay insurance for. Contact your claims adjuster and provide them the document. But stay on them to do their job or they might gaff you off and find it 'no fault'. I'm not sure what the laws are like in MO, but I had a similar accident here in California where a guy backed into me and claimed i hit him. I knew that fugger was full of schit and fought it. After hounding my insurance adjuster, I got him to look at the guys vehicle and ultimately they sided with me and both insurance companies found the other driver at fault. The bottom line is 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease'. Stay on them and it'll work out just fine.

Let's all hold cyber hands and sing Kumbaya...I'm starting to feel much better. Man, !@#$ him! I don't give a schit if he likes my opinion or not! And, yes AD, we do deserve better. But we aren't going to get better until a catastrophe happens. That my friend is the unfortunate truth. -

Isn't this key in considering whether we should devote countless dollars into solving a 'problem' when we are not sure of the cause? The price tag on global warming is enormous. Let's look at history. There were dinosaurs and then there was an ice age. The earth eventually warmed and here we are. We know the earths temperature has changed dramatically well before man inhabited it. I think a coherent energy strategy is HUGE. I also think conservation is very important, as is development of alternative energy sources, but I also think we should develop the known resources we possess and am dumbfounded that we refuse to do so. -

OK sure, if you say so. You've got the great moderator powers, do some research smart guy. BTW, I don't hide the fact that I generally hold conservative beliefs. YOU know how to read, don't you? So my core values are someone else's ideas. Well you're partly right, I do have mentors in my life who I respect and admire and have helped shape me into the person I am, so in that regard I agree. I'll also admit that I read Drudge regularly, so go figure. I do try to explain my point of view when posting, unlike many others. But the bottom line is I really don't care what you think. If you've got a problem with what I'm posting then prove me wrong...you're a smart guy, right? -

You know, I think you should have your own 'Real Men of Genius' beer commercial since you're so sharp and witty. It is true that I have no love for The Messiah's ideas, I've never denied it. I don't despise the man, but find it disturbing that he can take both sides of an issue and people eat it up. But I do respect his drive and appreciate that we have finally, as a nation, moved beyond race in that you can become President of the US regardless of your skin color. I've written this before and since you 'know' me so well you should've remembered that. I also criticize Republicans, and think that they as corrupt as the 'other' party (maybe more so). I know who I am as a man and know why I believe the things I do. It's called core values. I also take pleasure in sarcastically questioning those who don't. If that is bothersome to you tough schit. There are many things that GW has done that !@#$ this country for many years, the largest one being Iraq. Again, you should know that I feel this way since I'm such a big cheerleader. If you're going to post here then why not post an opinion of substance instead of doing the kool kat drive by? What is your opinion? So you think that we should partition the country? You do recognize the progress that is being made over there or are you too blinded by the Messiah to recognize that fact? -

I don't doubt the fact that the earths temperature is rising, but I do doubt the cause. Different opinions I guess. And for the record, I am an unaffiliated voter who usually votes Republican (as long as they have conservative principles). -

I'm voting for the candidate who will cut spending. Bottom line. Who is running on a platform of cutting spending? Where's Ron Paul when we need him? -

"Most voters (72%) think most members of Congress are more interested in furthering their own political careers." Gee, ya think? "A separate Rasmussen survey found that half of all voters believe America’s best days are in the past." That quote is very troubling. How many others feel that way? I hate to say it because I view myself as a realistic optimist, but I've got to agree. To me it seems like the beast is out of control and unmanageable. Has anyone read the book "Collapse" by Jared Diamond? It looks at past societies and studies their rise and fall. History is not kind to us as a nation in this regard. I personally feel that the best possible outcome for the US is that our power cedes like the Brittish Empire-gradually and over time. But they are the exception historically, and given our national proclivity for going out with a bang, this may not be the case for us...but who really knows? *Disclaimer-I do not agree with all of Diamonds theories in the book, specifically that environmental issues were the primary cause of the fall of the societies studied, but still found it interesting. -

Yea sure, I didn't read it. That's why I posted quotes from the article. It's not that its from the 'other' side. I just find it hilarious that The Messiah speaks out of both sides of his mouth and doesn't get called on it. So, smart moderator guy with 10 zillion posts, enlighten me as what Obama's plan is for getting out of Iraq, because I can't figure it out. Is it that we're going to be completely out of there in 17 months as he has been running on and is listed on his propaganda site or has his position changed to one more nuanced? When will he start looking into the conditions on the ground? I also like his position of I'm sure I can do a better job but I'm not sure how or what I'm going to do to make it better. And as Finknottle posted above-he's straight up full of schit when he talks about spending the money he'll save by getting us out of Iraq when it IS A SPECIAL APPROPRIATION AND NOT PART OF THE BUDGET. GET IT? I didn't think so... -
Obama and his plans for the military. This is some comical schit! -I'm going to pull us immediately out of Iraq unless I don't. -I'm going to give you a raise, but it's going to take awhile. -I'm going to listen to the General's even though I haven't met with any of them yet. Here's a gem: Obama said he did not want to be more specific because he did not want to make promises he might not be able to keep. “I think we can do a much better job than we’re doing right now,” he said. But, he added, “I want to be honest: We are going to be in a tight budget situation. We’re not going to be able to do everything all at once.” Another classic: Pulling U.S. combat forces out of Iraq would free up money for personnel programs and a host of other military needs, Obama said, citing the $10 billion to $12 billion monthly cost of military operations there. He did not mention that funding for Iraq has, so far, been emergency funding on top of the regular peacetime budget that would not automatically be diverted to other military programs. And this about his vast experience traveling the world as a child: “As somebody who has worked on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on critical issues like nuclear proliferation ... as somebody who has traveled widely and grew up traveling around the world, I think I have a clear sense of the nature of both the transnational threats and challenges but also the opportunities that are going to determine our safety and security for the foreseeable future. And that’s why I think I can be an effective commander in chief,” Obama said. And the ultimate doublespeak: Getting U.S. combat troops out of Iraq is a key Obama goal, and one where he said he is misunderstood. His campaign materials say Obama would begin withdrawing combat troops from Iraq, one or two brigades a month, as soon as he takes office. But he added in the interview that the start of the withdrawal also depends on the security conditions on the ground. http://www.armytimes.com/news/2008/07/military_obama_070708/ This guy's a peach... Go Messiah in '08!

Air purifiers are a waste of money, at least the kind that are floor standing or in a movable box. If you're interested in filtering your air call your Heating and Air Conditioning guy. They have systems that attach to your furnace/AC and work with the blower motor. The result is that they circulate the air in the entire house, not just the room the unit is operating in. There are different technologies out there from filters to UV light, but your AC guy can fill you in on what options they offer. They are ~$1000 for a good unit though...

This might just be the year the Republicans gift wrap the Presidency and deliver it to the Dem's. The further along we go, the more it looks like it... It sometimes looks like McCain doesn't know what he's going to do. It makes me wonder if he's dealing with the 'B' Team since the Republicans really don't like him.

The de-Baathification policy, in hindsight, may have been our biggest and most expensive blunder of the war. By shattering the existing structure there we had to quell the insurgency from those who were forced out of power, then fight Al Q, and essentially fight until the insurgents lost their will. From a Monday-morning QB perspective, had we worked with the existing Gov't we probably would've seen success there much earlier. -
But that's what Motherment is for...to protect the Barbarians. Motherment has a duty to bail us out from our 2nd mortgage! It's not my fault my $600k home is now worth $300k. They should've let me know this was going to happen! Why didn't GW tell me or at least send FEMA in faster damnit! But not to fear, because on January 20, 2009 the seas will recede, the earth will heal, and my mortgage will become current! I can't wait!

That's what I buy. They roast it fresh in the store near my house. 2 1/2 pounds for $7.99. Then I grind it myself. A few years ago I bought a Stabucks espresso machine and made my own mochas and macciatos. Eventually I got sick of it taking nearly five minutes of prep time just for a cup, so I shelved the thing in favor of regular joe.
