And If I were a player I would get free trips and dinners from everyone I could THEN decide. Even if team #1 is the team I was going to go to from the get go. I'll say it again, if Kiper, McShay, etal were worth a damn they would be making mulit millions being paid by NFL Teams. Look if our front office thinks Geno Smith is the next stud QB, then you call Jacksonville and you do the damn trade. at some point we have to stop being wimps and pull the damn trigger. My fear is Nix wont' do that and will SETTLE for someone he thinks we can just get by with (see Fitz II) in the 2nd round or late first. Then all we will hear from him is 'we were shocked he was still there, The guy we wanted the entire time and didn't have to sacrifice other picks to get him' blah blah blah. Who cares? And what if Geno IS the next great franchise QB? with todays NFL you trade the first rounders and you take him. Time to quit being scared and stupid about it

The org needs to cut the BS and call Jacksonville and trade up. Don't take chances if this kid is the guy.

Now I don't know how well it will work with the current staff, but their plan for rebuilding this team is smart. They are going to bring in pieces that will fit our systems directly, guys who arent' going to break the bank or demand huge paydays but will perform as a collective. This is SMART! I have said already I am on record as saying I hated the Mario Williams deal last year. First you never give a defensive player QB money, second you never spend on one player like that (outside QB) when you aren't close and the Bills were not close due to a crappy QB situation. I am starting to feel that Doug Whaley has more say now than we think. The approach right now sure resembles how Pittsburgh (and NE etc) do business. Pick a system, Stick to a system, find players that fit your system but don't break the bank doing so. Draft them, keep them if you can, and add mid tier FA's to complement your roster, not break your cap. I see fellow fans B word and whine about no QB (Me included) then B word because Nix and company are going overboard checking out the QB's in the draft. So what do you want? We need to pick one, QB is the biggest need and most important position in the NFL and they are busting their asses to try and make the best decision possible. So right now the plan is thus, Bust ass trying to find a QB in the draft, draft to fill holes, fill in the rest with reasonable costing FA's in a few weeks to before camp. Now I grant you Nix may not be the best to do this but the idea is a very smart one.

We jumped on arguably the two best pass rushers possible in last years free agency in the first 48 hours... what was our record? All it did was re affirm to our front office big spending isn't the way to go and honestly it isnt. If I were our GM I would be doing the same thing. Sorry folks I would. My #1 priority would be QB and that is what our guys seemed focused on. Get the draft over with and let the FA's out there realize their huge paydays aren't going to happen and sign a couple during the summer. Also in our scheme which seems to be emphasizing the 3-4 more I would try to move Mario Williams and his stupid contract and place our 2nd available June 1st designation on him. Too much money, too little production and he didn't flourish in a 3-4 in Houston.
