  1. None of the 0-4 teams are going to make the playoffs. None of them are very good, and even though the Giants play in a crap division (and they are popular, and a New York team, and the media is going to talk about them constantly, and many people in Buffalo like them as their "NFC team"), they suck this year, and they know it.
  2. Mom, her 2 sisters, grandma, mother-in law... I'm not trying to be unsympathetic, or act like "football is everything, cancer is getting in the way". I just don't think pink flags are having any effect except making the viewer edgy about penalties while trying to watch the game. I don't think that was the intent of the League. And while some didn't notice, obviously I wasn't alone.
  3. I am 100% behind them raising money and awareness. The uniforms are fine, and actually clever and cool ( sometimes). They can paint the stadiums pink, and I will applaud them. I'm also aware of an undercurrent of "let's appeal to the female demographic". The cause is worthy enough to let it slide, but it is there. . There's no shortage of pink NFL items to auction, and pink penalty flags aren't going to be some kind of deal breaker ("no penalty flags? that's it, I'm keeping my money!"). No one is claiming that football is more important than cancer, and like everyone here, I have plenty of close relatives that have suffered. My Mom just grew her hair back. I haven't spoken to her yet, but no doubt as she watched the game last night, at some point she said " These pink penalty flags are confusing to me. It's like 20 flags flying around on the field. I think there is a penalty every play". There is a point where it becomes grandstanding, and "more pink" doesn't equal "more dollars", or more awareness. That point has arrived.
  4. I'm not against the whole concept, but it's not anymore effective having the flags be pink. I saw that it's some kind of Roger Goodell public relations grab "An 11 year old boy wrote a letter asking the NFL to change the flags to pink, and Goodell thought it was a great idea." But it's not, it's just a publicity grab for the commissioner. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/11-old-boy-convinced-nfl-pink-penalty-flags-183137397--nfl.html
  5. I don't know if this has been discussed, but the pink penalty flags aren't just silly and unnecessary, they are confusing. There are all these guys with pink towels on their uniforms, and I swear there were times when they were on the field and I couldn't tell if it was a thrown flag or just a guy's towel. The NFL certainly wouldn't allow players to have yellow towels, so why do they have to go with overkill and have the penalty flags pink? We all get the idea when we see all the other pink items.
  6. I agree. It's nauseating to me to see all this love for the Browns when the Bills should have trounced them. I respect the progress the Browns have made.
  7. I felt on pins and needles when ever the Bills had the ball that the Refs were going to call any penalty they could. I'm not saying it cost the game, because the Bills couldn't recapture the lead anyway, but it was an odd feeling.
  8. Dude, this is too foolish to write out a proper response to.
  9. It was VERY early that the Bills got ahead, but things were just settling in. They aren't that good. You are making the mistake of watching 2 teams with backup QB's competing, and a generally mediocre NFL. I think the Bills are better on an even playing field / with starting QB's, and the Chiefs, Broncos, Seahawks, Saints are good teams.
  10. Actually, I brought up this very topic, but apparently only inspired other, more important questions. http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/161545-the-no-huddle-trend-and-injuries/
  11. I was thinking the same thing. Oh, and bring back Merriman!
  12. Losman would have been great on a different team, Trent Edwards is a baller, deep down. Billy Joe Hobert was ruined by the Bills. Look what they did to James Hardy, Mike Williams was burning with desire, until Buffalo ruined his life. Poor Maybin, guy couldn't catch a break.
  13. I would rather have a "hands" guy back there than some guy that just runs fast. There aren't really that many opportunities to return punts.
  14. Actually, I just Googled it, and it is the title of a book about the NFL. There is page after page of results, all concerning football, and seemingly all dated 2013. Apparently this season, every team is taking a "next man up mentality", because every team in the league has a news article where they state that they are. I'm sure most couldn't care less, but I find the herd-like behavior in college football, and especially the NFL and it's media, interesting. I don't know if it's purposely coordinated, just the way of the beast, or some combination of those. Somehow it seems more prevalent under Goodell, but maybe it's just a natural response to the totality of the media coverage, and constant regurgitation.
  15. Let's just wait and see how he plays. If he has an impactful season, then he is cool with me. If he doesn't, then I will question his ethics.
  16. About every other NFL season, a term rises up to become a fallback, interview cliche, that gets overused, tossed into post game interviews and talking head commentaries, and this season it looks to be "Next man up". Pretty soon, it will work it's way into the vernacular, and mid-management guys are going to use it to motivate underlings. Anyone heard the word "swagger" lately?
  17. Brady has done well enough. Flacco has Torrey Smith who is a very good to excellent receiver. Certainly better than anyone on the Pats. If a Bills QB had the same year I would be happy, but I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that he is a special QB. He throws a nice deep ball, but other than that he is just adequate. I think it's plenty fair to judge him right now.
  18. Yeah, but he really sucked. The reason you pay a guy $100 million dollars is because you expect him to make guys look good, not the other way around. He was very fortunate last season, and is overpaid.
  19. To me, it appeared that he had it trapped in his elbow, that it was not moving, and that as he was getting the other foot down, he brought the ball down with his other hand. I think he could have just left it elbow, but naturally brought his other hand up to get it. I don't see how they had anything conclusive to overrule it.
  20. I think the Woods TD was a good catch, and didn't see anything that could conclusively overturn the call on the field.
  21. Tasker blocked 7 kicks, and no doubt pressured many punters into bad kicks. I know he didn't return any kicks for TD's, but if you are rushing the kicker, you aren't going to be receiving the punt, are you? I just mentioned it because it is a big Special Teams achievement (and Easley has done neither as far as I know). Where did I knock Easley? By saying he doesn't compare to the guy that is generally considered an all-time NFL great? He is doing a good job!
  22. I think on the play where he bobbled it before fumbling, a defender swiped at the ball and knocked it away from Manuel. I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere. Did anybody else see that?
