Does the hurry up offense = more injuries?
Prickly Pete replied to MDH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm just updating the thread. I don't know either way, and it's really too early to tell, but I lean a bit towards "yes, it will be a factor in there being more injuries this season" Are season ending injuries the only injuries that count? (Not in my mind, but maybe you feel differently) How many teams that don't run the hurry up, play against team's that run the hurry up? How many times? Like I said, it's too early to tell, and I'm just bumping it up, with an interesting tidbit. -

Nope. If that were true, then why would Ryan have known using a guy from the line was illegal. And why did Belichick admit he was wrong? -
Found this on a Saints site...

When were you most wrong on a player?
Prickly Pete replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's interesting, because when I saw the topic heading I immediately assumed it was coming from the angle of "Which player did you NOT like, that has turned out to be good", but there seem to be more from the other direction, players that people thought would be good, but weren't. I felt McKelvin was an average-at-best, waste of a 1st pick, but he is now a critical player for this team. I can't think of anyone I really liked that busted, maybe because if they sucked, they usually sucked right away, and I never developed high expectations. Maybe Lossman. -

Why don't people just wait until EJ is ready to return, and then assess their play? The subtext to all this speculation is that the staff won't want to keep a #1 draft pick on the bench, because it will make them look foolish for drafting him. It's like the some fans just can't wait to complain about the staff, and just love to say "I told you so". Whiners. I think they would look far more foolish if they pulled a guy that was playing well and winning games. This staff hasn't shown that kind of attitude at all. If Lewis gets lots better, and the team keeps winning, they will keep him in. But alas, I doubt Lewis is going to light it up. They won't, it's just that there are some fans that can't wait to whine about how stupid the staff is, and have their "life is so unfair" attitude justified.

I didn't say it would happen. The point is, going into this season, they were ready to start Kolb, and if he had them on any kind of 5 game winning streak, he would keep the job. The players would lose their minds if Lewis won these 5 games and was pulled. The coaches would lose the team, especially a guy like Fred Jackson, who might never get another shot. I mean they ORIGINALLY signed him to start if EJ need time to develop. He sucked, but the plan was obviously that Kolb was likely going to start the season until EJ was ready.

What eggs? They used a 1st round pick, sure, but that doesn't mean he HAS to start this season, or the staff will be considered idiots. No one would question them starting Lewis if he won every game. That's 5 wins in a row, and you think Marrone is going to take him out after beating Miami, the Jets, a currently undefeated KC, and road game against the Saints? This team hasn't won 5 in a row since 2004 (against very weak teams). What other "eggs" have they committed to him? They picked up Kolb, and most expected Kolb to at least start the season, so they laid the groundwork for sitting EJ. If Kolb had them on track for the playoffs from the start of the year, you know he would have kept the job for the season. I think they would be more concerned with losing the players, if they went on a winning streak, then pulled Lewis out.

Love him. I'm so glad that he has come into his own. -

\ Ridiculous. Brady has been great his entire career. -
I think if the Bills are in contention, EJ has been out the full 6 weeks (now 5), and TL has played well, I think he will finish off the season, and next year in camp it will be a QB battle. I don't think the staff is as tied to EJ starting, as much so many others think. I think they are more concerned with winning, and can easily justify putting off EJ's starting by saying the truth...that his development has been hindered by the injury, and that TL is giving them the best shot of winning right now. Why are fans so quick to question the motives of the coaches? Both of the QB's were brought in by this staff. I don't see any indications that they are overly worried about "justifying" EJ's selection. They brought in Kolb, and probably expected him to start the year anyway.

Fluke might have been the wrong word, but how many people thought the Bills were going to win the game at that point?

I posted that earlier in this thread... -
Plus, it was pretty much a fluke that they got the ball back at the end of the game (not that they haven't been on the opposite end of of those kinds of misfortunes). The Dolphins had the game in the bag...

Losing Mayo was huge. He was the main man on that defense, and with Wilfork out they will be balancing on a fine line to succeed. The Pats are going to lose more games, and even if they make the playoffs, they won't go far. -
Take a stroll behind enemy lines

There is no need for a realignment. All this so the Bills can play the Browns? And it's hard enough to get national coverage in a division that includes the NY Jets and Boston Patriots, so now people want to bury the Bills in a division with Cleveland and the Bengals? It's all silliness. The Bills organization would have no interest in leaving a division with the Jets and Pats, unless it was to join the NFC East.
