  1. No dude. Re-read my post, "Nothing I'm gonna lose sleep over, because it's all part of becoming a multi-millionaire overnight, and is a rite of passage into the crazy, mixed up world of professional sports."... got it? I don't think it's a big deal. In the grand scheme of NFL excess, this is nothing. I'm more annoyed by the degradation of the fan experience. The restrictions, the constant advertisements, the fleecing of the fans and communities, the game delays, the ticket prices, parking fees, commercial time outs, ...yada yada yada.
  2. Where did I contradict that? Did I imply I didn't understand the economics? I just pointed out that it's the fans that pay for these excesses, and wondered where the tipping point for fans might be. It's pretty close for me, and not just due to the behavior of the players.
  3. Uh..I was talking about from the fan's perspective...
  4. Does this restaurant have a luxury box or multiple season tickets? Do the car dealerships where players purchase their cars have them? I think there is a lot of that kind of thing going on. Nothing I'm gonna lose sleep over, because it's all part of becoming a multi-millionaire overnight, and is a rite of passage into the crazy, mixed up world of professional sports. I just hope most of the money gets circulated back to the low rungs of the local economy....probably not though. Ultimately it's the fans that pay for this kind of excess. The tickets, the parking, concessions, etc. And of course, being endlessly bombarded with advertisements. They don't just want your money, they want your time (and mind). At what point does that experience become more unpleasant than pleasing?
  5. Because it's such a ludicrous, ill-conceived idea that it draws replies like a moth to flame. I look forward to more from this OP....
  6. I would move on, and support UB. At this point the NFL is really turning me off in a variety of ways, from the way the game is played, to the rules, to the business practices...on and on. If the Bills were allowed to move, that's it. This Hamilton suggestion is just poppycock.
  7. What are we discussing here? Is it.. "How much can different individual players get away with before they should be cut?" or "What actions should be considered too embarrassing to Ralph Wilson, so the player should be cut?" I think Dareus is okay on both counts here, but I just wanna know which argument I'm addressing.
  8. Actually, these days it's info overload, and most NFL fans will barely remember this incident (if Dareus doesn't get into more trouble) by the start of the season. This is just the current hot topic (and really, only Buffalo cares), and by mid-season there will have been at least 30 more stories with at least as much heat as this one. No one will care, and soon enough it will be ..."Look! Here comes Johnny!" Anyway, my post was referring to the the notion that this incident is somehow besmirching the memory of Ralph Wilson, which is complete HOGWASH. If you wanna look for something embarrassing to Ralph Wilson, look up at the Bills Wall of Fame, where the ultimate Bills embarrassment's name resides. If RW was okay with having OJ's name on the Wall (I am), then I think his spirit can get over this incident too. #getagripbillsfans
  9. C'mon. Bruce Smith was caught doing all kinds of mischief and Ralph Wilson gave him plenty more money. Get a grip.
  10. Yeah, maybe they would get some 300+ lbs. guys to knock him around under the hot summer sun, and have people yell at him.
  11. You gotta be kidding. The Darryl Talley that got into a fight at the Roxbury before the LA Super Bowl? The Bruce Smith with the drug suspension? Ever hear some of the tales told about Jim Kelly during his playing days?
  12. Bollocks. His arrests have been relatively minor infractions. The Bills may grow tired of him, but at this point most if not all other teams would sign him up right quick. Plenty of guys get arrested for weed (and it's quickly becoming decriminalized). And this drag racing nonsense is just silliness. I can imagine police in the Buffalo area have swept dozens of these kinds of incidents under the rug throughout Bills history. Have we even gotten any details about this? For all we know, the guy hit a roadside mailbox.
  13. No way you release an important player for misdemeanor traffic violations. He is a pain in the coach's @$$, but so what? Let the coach deal with him. He hasn't hurt anyone, dealt drugs, or stolen money, he is just acting like a fool.
  14. The people will find a way to gather, party and socialize pre and post game. It might not be around a tailgate, it might not even be in a parking lot, but some kind of social scene will develop.
  15. Perry Projects is where I expect it to be built.
  16. I guess the question can be interpreted in a variety of ways. I took it to mean "what decade had the best style of play?" For me, as great as the 70's were, I still remember a lot of "guy runs into the middle of the line, 2 yard gain". It was just getting past that, and the 80's opened it up. There were a variety of offenses too. Power running games, west coast, air coryell, the run and shoot, no huddle....there seemed to be more variety between teams in the 80s.
  17. Exactly...except not as talented.
  18. I have to agree about the 80's. I only have experience from around 1974, but I think the game had struck the right balance between the run/pass game in the 80's. Less specialization, but still some of that type of sophistication developing. The rules weren't skewed so far towards the offense. I put the 70's right up there too, though.
  19. All these negative comments...where are the posters that were FURIOUS that the Bills let him go, allowing the Jets to "maximize his potential"? Remember the weekly updates on his blooming career over in New York? I tried to pull one of the those threads up from the archives, but couldn't sift one out. There was some rich stuff in those posts.
  20. Both Jeff Tuel and Thad Lewis are further along than any of the "late round flyer" guys. If this season is indeed "make or break" for EJM, then next season they will go out and get someone (draft or free agent) to replace him. In other words, it's just for this season, and having a new rookie wouldn't help for this season anyway. Also, they may bring in a veteran that's been cut before this season.
  21. I think Fred Jackson is going to hit the wall sometime this season. They aren't going to get rid of Spiller this year. If he has agreat season, and the OC figures out how to maximize his abilities, they should keep him. If not, they will draft a RB ( with the 2nd Rd. pick?) and move on. He will be a Bill, at least through this season.
  22. Sorry, it's all so important to me!
  23. I don't claim to be a prophet. The point is, all those people that whined about the Bills getting rid of him, claiming that he was "good enough" to build around, will have their opportunity to see what he can do with an organization that took that path. Is that too confusing for you? I think my point was clear, but do you have any questions? Emoticons are lame.
  24. I think this thread IS of interest. All the people that claimed that Fitz was good enough, and that the Bills should have built around him (provided him with a good OL, better receivers, a good defense) will have their chance to EAT THEIR WORDS as he fails. Yes, there are still some here that feel he was competent enough...guys that pipe up to defend him...and now they will get their wish. I like Fitz as a person, but don't believe he will ever lead a team to a Super Bowl.
  25. There are no TE's that would be a significant improvement over Chandler. 3rd round is BPA time.
