If we win just the 4 AFC games left...
Prickly Pete replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's only mathematician's left... Nothing about the play of this team, in any of the games that weren't against the Jests, suggests that this team is a playoff team. They just aren't very good on the offensive side of the ball. -
We can re-sign Dareus and Hughes

They are an 8-8 team with this dominating D-line. Maybe D-line's are overrated? The Pats scored 37 points against this defense, at RWS. -

It's over, and it's been over since the Miami loss. -
Get back to me when the Bills make the playoffs with Orton.
-
He is s**t in the Red Zone...where it matters. Great defense, average drive start field position is one of the best, and still Orton can't get into the end zone. Big problem, but everyone just wants to blame the sidelines. The Red Zone is what separates the men from the boys, the winners from the journeymen.
-
You have me convinced. Go Orton!
-
That's not what I said, but I see how you like to play. Okay then... None of those guys are in the Hall of Fame, are they? I would say that, right now, this season, today, at this point, NO! Without a future Hall of Fame QB, this Bills team is not good enough to win enough of the remaining games on the schedule to make the playoffs. Kyle Orton is the kind of guy that can make the playoffs by beating teams like the Chiefs, and Dolphins (good, not great...the Bills wild card competition). He didn't, so the games against elite QB's are too much to overcome.
-
What? What about my post was "bitter"? I just want to see the team improve. Putting in EJ halfway through the 4th quarter would not be considered trying to run up the score (ignore obvious joke). Putting in backups to gain experience is not running up the score either. Players often get injured when they are playing "half speed", all the more reason to put back ups out there.
-
We aren't, we are going to lose regardless of Orton's career stats, or this season's, or compared to EJM, or anyone else. I don't understand the point of bickering about correctly assessing Orton's mediocrity. Where are people going with this? Ahh, now I see... NO! He is not good enough to get us to the playoffs, even if those things happen, because he is not good enough to beat the good teams with great QB's that are on the remaining schedule. He can't match them. Not going to happen, yet you will blame it on the line, or running game or coaches, but Orton isn't good enough. Stats are crap.

Yeah, it was really pointless, and even a little degrading. He at least should have gone in the previous series. The guy was the starter, and has already taken a massive amount of abuse, and humiliation. his status appears to be just above "water boy" at this point. For all the criticism of Belichick running up the score, I like the idea that a team is always working on their own game. A blowout is a chance to give guys experience, try new plays, work out some problems.
-
The Bills haven't beaten any top QB's this season, (Stafford, Cutler....meh, guys that run hot and cold). Now they will face Manning, Rodgers, and Brady....Orton will fall short. This team just kinda scrums with the rest of the fodder of the NFL, winning some, and losing some...Orton doesn't cut it, and cannot raise the team above the middle of the pack.

Virtually every coach in the NFL "out-classes" Belichick EVERY week...he just wins.

I don't know if the Bills are a good team...
Prickly Pete replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a feel good story.... I would feel a lot better if this was a playoff team, though. They aren't, they are just a decent team with an outstanding D-Line, and a lower rung offense. -
Patriots look scary good...

This thread is really sad.... I wonder what rival message boards would have been like during the Bills Super Bowl years? I expect that it will not only mean nothing to the Pats, but the Bills won't be close to the playoffs, and the Pats will win anyway. -

Marv probably just didn't want people to think coaching had anything to do with losing Super Bowls... "It's all about the quarterback...." -

Well fortunately, when they write the record books, they aren't aren't going to be polling guys like you (or me). Virtually across the board, writers, players, coaches, Belichick is considered one of, if not the best. Certainly of his own era, Now let's bicker about Jerry Rice, was he really any good? Or was it all Montana and Young... -

There is no real answer for that, because the NFL, and circumstances have changed so much. But knock yerself out... All I know is that, in what is easily the most strategically sophisticated era of football, he has been the premier coach for over a decade. -

Article on Bills Handling of QB Situation
Prickly Pete replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just found this video, and what strikes me is how different he looks...confident and moving fast off the snap, not to mention his running plays. He looks like he is anxious to attack the defense, as opposed to his Bills career, where he looks like a guy with a checklist running through his mind as he approaches the center, and filled with caution. He may never be a good pro, but there isn't much to lose by keeping him around to see if he develops. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYRCkpnnlIs And this.. -
Maybe the Bills are not So Bad After All
Prickly Pete replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They are competitive. That's nice, because it's been a while. They aren't contenders, and lots of things need to get better before they are contenders. I don't believe that Marrone and Orton can get them into the top 10 of NFL teams, because neither of them are top 10 at their job, and they are 2 critical pieces. Not good enough. -
I brought this up before in reference to the Seattle Seahawks, and was lambasted for insinuating that any team would be involved in dispensing PED's, or having specialists in PED's employed by the team. People insisted that it's just players making their own arrangements, away from the team. I think it's a big part of fielding a competitive team.

I just don't think that being a good businessman correlates to providing the best product possible. -
