  1. There are plenty of ways to get crowd noise into the PA. An open announcers mic with some compression on it, maybe just turn the noise gate off or lower it's threshold when you want things louder.
  2. "he is likely to want the money (and draft picks) to go there first and foremost." I know Whaley makes the picks, that's why I mentioned him in my previous post. You don't think Ryan has any input? You don't think power struggles between GM's and coaches over these kinds of decisions happen all the time? Do you know how much input/influence may have been promised to Ryan in these kinds of decisions?
  3. No, I'm not. Where did I say they couldn't do both? And how can cap spending be "totally independent" between them, if it's all from the same pot? I want them to spend money on the offense, but with Ryan laying his reputation on the defense, he is likely to want the money (and draft picks) to go there first and foremost.
  4. If Revis is the CB, but Urbik is still starting at Guard, it would be ridiculous. I have a bad feeling that could happen.
  5. I really hope Whaley doesn't let Ryan put to many resources and emphasis on the defensive side of the ball. It's my biggest worry about Ryan. When Ryan stakes his reputation on the defense being the best, it's gotta take away from the offense. How about some O-lineman, a TE, a top flight RB? We already know the QB is likely to be average at best.
  6. This is the kind of thinking that pushes me to defend the Pats. I hate the Patriots, but this kind of grasping for straws is just sad. I can understand being angry about the way they have bent the rules (I don't like it, but I suspect most teams (even the Bills) get up to things that are outside the rules), but denying that the list of accomplishments is impressive is ridiculous.
  7. Yet there he is, playing in the NFL, AND writing for SI, while you Dibby, write for message boards.
  8. Yeah, I just think he was "very good". Being a Notre Dame guy, having a TV gig, and retiring after a SB win, surely helped.
  9. It seemed like a well written article. If he indeed wrote it himself, I think he will do alright. He was smart enough to seek a gig writing for SI. Beating up on players makes fans feel good. They spend a lot of time looking up, and when a chance comes to look down, they relish it.
  10. I think the word "Warrior" is pretty accurate... war·ri·or (wôr′ē-ər, wŏr′-) n. 1. One who is engaged in or experienced in battle. 2. One who is engaged aggressively or energetically in an activity, cause, or conflict:
  11. I think he IS getting a real job...he is developing a career in sports journalism. Hopefully, the players will work together to improve their working conditions... just like everyone else wants to. I think generally they deserve better, but it's up to them to leverage it (no doubt the same guys attacking this article will resent them for it). This article is just laying out some of the conditions that they work under, that they don't like...not whining. More likely, you are oblivious to the players situations, seeing as their lives are rather uncommon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAD6Obi7Cag
  12. http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/positions.aspx IT's funny because they list all the on field positions, then the coaches, then the contributors, and then, at the very bottom, suddenly another on field position....punter.
  13. So who in the HoF do you feel is less deserving than Tasker?
  14. I would select any player in the Hall of Fame to play on my team before selecting Steve Tasker- Special Teams Ace. (Except I would rather have Tasker than Ray Guy) Yeah, well that's pretty much what it is. It's coach speak. Of course "execute" doesn't necessarily mean you need to excel either. I think most coaches would be happy with consistent, mistake free special teams. Just don't screw up, good plays are gravy, and big plays can't really be counted on.
  15. This. That trade should not have been allowed by the league. I think they let it through because Jerry Jones was a big shot new owner, throwing money around, and the league wanted to re-establish it's most popular franchise ("America's Team") that had been struggling for a long time. The Walker trade was the key to all of it. It threw off the natural competitive balance of the league. And Jerry Jones bought it.
  16. He whines now and then, but he wins a lot more.
  17. Terrible spelling...it's spelled "W-I-N-N-I-N-G".
  18. I guess we will just have to see how Goodell, and the NFL feel about it, huh? It is their league after all.
  19. They are meeting the pre-game requirements. After that, it is the responsibility of the officials to make sure the balls are regulation.
  20. I'm not a scientist, but if the Pats filled the ball with hot air in order to meet the pregame requirements (knowing full well it would deflate by game time), is that cheating? Not to me, as long as the rules don't specify anything to the contrary.

  22. Was that a low blow? Is it so obvious a point, that it's cruel for me to post? The guy has slept with truckloads of beautiful woman, gets paid ridiculous amounts of money to make appearances in front of thousands of paying customers, and is willing to voice some unpopular opinions in large public forums and take on all comers.
  23. Because he is better looking, more intelligent, has more guts, and is cooler than you will ever be.
